Hah, why do you think about their success in such negative way..Finland is the land of metal heads, theres no other country who has had so many metal albums at the top of their album charts as Finland does, so its only natural that nw is so BIG here, they make great metal music. But it doesent mean that all the Finns listen to them, the ones that only listen to pop dont, or they only bear Amaranth haha.. Like my co workers and friends think that nw is too heavy and artistic.uh!!

The leader of this choir; Marion is a legendary famous singer and a nw fan, so she wanted her choir to sing Amaranth, and nw congratulated them on their website..haha

Oh and one of the choir leaders is Timo Kotipelto, power metal band Stratovarius's singer, and they did stratovarius song hunting high and low at this same show. Also one of our idol winners Ari Koivunen is a metal head, he won the idol competition by singing only heavy metal songs..so there you go.. =) Its not unusual for metal to appear in the pop culture here .. =)

Wow, you made Finland just sound like my dream country :P Over here, if I tell someone I listen to metal, they give me this "wow, she's probably a satanist (dressed in pink :P)" look, & act as if I don't understand nothing about music. Then I have to go ahead & explain to them that I've been studying music my entire life, & that actualy, I feel the metal is a direct continuation from classical music. Listen to Beethoven & Rachmaninoff & you'll see metal was bound to be the next step :)

I study music. I am a trained tenor, self-taught guitarist, and apprieciator of classical music.

While I agree that metal draws from classical music, some even playing a mixture of the two, I think it takes away from other genres, such as prog rock, or others who take what is popular at the time and add thought and skill to it.

I respect your opinion, BUT i dun thik that all metal genres comes from making what is popular a lil bit more skilled, metal in general has to be played with some skill, im agree, but not all genres are popular, example splater death brutal death grind etc, most ppl hates them, but it doesnt mean isnt skilled or bad, just its a lil bit hard to hear and u have (not u, i mean anyoene :P ) learn how to listen to it... Its just my opinion :P
