My distance on the blindspot is sometimes off but I can usually manage it. But since I usually get hit by the backlash while I'm punching him in the stomach, and that alone can usually take off almost all of my health bar. I need to gauge my distance better.

I can beat Bolare with nothing equiped. Even abilities were turned off and getting flawless victory. But it's not that hard.

Heh. I have an idea: Defeat Julius using only the D-Pad and A button! That means the only way to hurt him is with slide kicks (Skeleton Blaze) and drop kicks (Kicker Skeleton). I think it would make for an interesting fight.

I actually managed to beat Julius without using abilities! :D But it's so exhausting I needed Level 40+ to beat him fast, otherwise i lose concentration :(

Wow, I couldn't see myself doing this without abilities! But then, I couldn't see myself doing this with 1HP. Maybe no weapons/armor, full HP, no souls, and abilities on, because I'd rely on the slide and backdash throughout most of the fight. Kudos, though. That was intense!

The giant ghost soul in the Dark Chapel stairs (the one with the manticore boss) makes you immune to Death's sickles. But use it sparingly, it consumes a lot of MP.

Freakin awesome! I tried it, and I managed to do it, but I didn't risk dying. I just had full health throughout the fight. Oh, and afterwards, I tried it w/ cheats! It is much more fun that way, to just pwn him with him beating on you and doing nothing :)

That was just outstanding. Although technically, you didn't do it without souls, because you were relying on double jump, and even more so on the slide ability, but if you didn't have these, the difficulty would've gone from near impossible to impossible. That was just great, this is the sole reason that tonight I'm finding my AoS game pak and playing again, just to try this again. After all, DoS was a better game, but didn't have a boss nearly as cool as this.

Well I had a savepoint just before the fight. Everytime after I got killed, I had to stop recording, reload the savepoint, start recording and begin to fight. Trust me, you don't want to do it too often :P

I've been fighting Julius at minimum level on hard newgame+. Managed to do it without attacking, potions or using Chaos Ring. Video pending once I can record a successful session.

It's not a cheat. I tested the game on both VisualBoy advance and mednafen, and the game allows you to pass through Julius.If it's a glitch in the game, it's not my fault.

Here's the explanation: Julius is *NOT* a monster. He's a human, touching should not get you hurt. Unfortunately this doesn't happen when he jumps and whips. Why don't you save a game and try doing that... i'm sure you'll discover the glitch or event or whatever you call it. But I didn't spend over 40 hours in this to cheat!

I want to point out that at exactly 3:06, he walked through Julius when Julius is NOT blinking, which means he was using GameShark or another form of cheating. Sorry dude, but busted. He wasn't phased out when you walked through him dude, and you retained no damage from the contact. Once again, busted.

Yes, I did. After saving/loading a LOT OF TIMES, I realized that Julius doesn't actually HURT YOU. Only the whip does, or whenever Julius is punching / kicking. The only exception is when he jumps and whips at the same time, then any part of his body is damaging.

P.S. When I say "Yes I did" i mean I did walk through Julius, NOT that I cheated. I did not. Altho I used VisualBoy Advance for both training (save/load saves you a lot of time) and saving the video (that explains the good quality).

Wrong. I never knew how to gameshark. Here's what I did: Using VBA, I recorded the movie into an avi, then processed the audio with virtualdub and encoded with divx. About playing, it costed me about 3 hours to lower my HP to exactly 1, before the fight. Then i saved a mem snapshot at that point.
