" meski suka, tinggal suka, mama panggil "BETA" pulangeeee..
Saya dari suku Jawayang lama menetap di Sumatra, daan sedari SD saya biasa menyanyikan kedua bait ini...
note : Bagi teman yang belum tau; memang "Ada" Gunung nona di Ambon.
Imho, this song is Ambon origin and then adapted to Bahasa Indonesia version, same happened to other Ambonese song such as Buka Pintu, Bulan Pake Payong etc. I was born in Ambon and in my childhood this version is all I hear there, and yes, there is a gunung named Nona in Ambon. By the way Thanks Raymond :)
There are no right or wrong words in folk music. I learned this from a young lady who learned it as a child in her home town, Malang. Maybe that's how they sing it there! She would not be interested in "deceiving" me.
hi sir..jus wanna sez thx for singing indonesian children song, im very proud of u, me as indonesian people was very gratefull to meke world know this song ^^
your friend right, that's the original lyric for this song. This song originally came from Maluku/Ambon, and some people made the children rhyme version and use the same tune but different words.
"Naik-naik kepuncak gunung, tinggi-tinggi sekali 2x.
See the message from "selamattinggalmasa." This confirms that my version is also correct. I learnt it forty years ago from a friend who came from Malang. It is normal for folk songs to change over time, so there are really no right or wrong versions.
Hi Ray ... you know gunung NONA is a kind of rated R. Nona means lady. But it doesn't matter, I like it that version ... just don't sing it in front of kids okay :)
you're right raymond. about this song, it has 2 versions of lyrics. the first lyrics supposed to be more popular to children. and the version (that you sing) is the romantic version of the song, is more popular for the teenager during 1980s era in Indonesia.
hey everyone, check out 'FOLKLOR INDONESIA' made by James Dananjaya, you can see unique facts about this song (actually the lyrics inside)... both the original or the contoversial one...
during 1980's era, indonesian colleages and students changed the lyrics of this song to be unappropiate :
Beautiful song Raymond, as you well know, music is a universal language. No barriers or borders, cultural or linguistic, it's to be enjoyed by all, and brother I truly enjoyed this song! Thanks my friend.
Such a pretty song Raymond :) I don't know what you are singing in the song, perhaps you could post the translation sometime. But it does sound like a happy song, am I right in thinking that?
At any rate... wonderful performance once again Raymond. :)
It's a children's song. I think it's something about climbing a mountain, but this is not the usual words, as I mentioned in the introduction. Malay speakers think my version is funny, but I haven't yet worked out why!
a old blind man said once he can not speak Spanish yet i listen to them sing on the radio..i just love the way it sounds....i don't know what you was saying but it had a great sound....could i do a request in the pines or o death i know that o death is a very old song redone many times..... i do not know much history on in the pines except several artist has sung this song

do u know what does it means??
u were deceived by the guy
it must be "naik-naik ke puncak gunung"
not "naik-naik ke gunung nona" which are a nasty word meant that you climb someone's breast.
cuz nona means a women
haha :D
