  • No record, since it isn't a "Bill drill". And the RO should be saying

    Unload and show clear

    Hammer/striker down

    Holster

  • That's not a bill drill. Just a very, very fast trigger finger after a fast quickdraw. It's still awesome, but let's see if you can do the same after a run and gun. XD

  • what's the deal with the last bullet in the chamber??

sorry for the silly question but i really don't know what's going on

  • Nope, no Word Record. His hands were not up.

  • No left finger, just trigger finger on the strong hand, not a bump fire run.

  • For any of you haters or doubters out there in cyberland, I shoot on a regular basis with Kelly in IPSC shoots here in OK. Should you feel it necessary to talk some smack, come out to the shoots and show him (and us) what you got. We're more than happy to pick up a few pointers. If I saw this man facin me down armed, I would literally shit my pants.

  • @hpdrifter1960 Where do you guys shoot? I've taken a bit of an interest in the "game" side of shooting lately and would love to shoot an IDPA qualifier or maybe an ipsc match or two.

  • He ejects the round....empties and checks the chamber....in a safe direction.....whats the problem?...been instructing for a few years now....its not a school example, but the shooting isn`t either..handling however is precise and safe..

  • I don't understand the problem, markoftheking777. He cleared the pistol (which by definition makes it safe) while it was pointed in a safe direction, and he caught the ejected round so he wouldn't have to get down and pick it up. Nobody's safety was compromised and nobody was showing off. What's the problem?

  • the problem is that marofheking777 wants some attention. So he must down talk a professional to get it. He is a LOSER.

  • @opensourcelinuxm For "Competition" speed shooting, when the stakes are fun & prizes on a square cold range there IS no problem. Practicing & ingraining bad habits aginst Real World deadly adversaries- several.

  • @opensourcelinuxm cont;No follow through on threat tgt,no scanning for other threats, speed unloading, speed reholstering,If arm is clear & safe then why pull trigger when you DO NOT WANT THE WEAPON TO FIRE?Empty gun back in holster.I understand cold range rules, but what are you going to do if you face bad guys? Exactly what you did on the range 30k times.

  • @sbd45acp Holy shit dude, calm down. Not everybody is out to play Mr. Tactical GI Joe with their guns. Some people just use them to have fun. Jeez.

  • @opensourcelinuxm Predictable response. Read the 1st line of my post again. YOU asked the question- Your words" What's the problem?" The folks who "only"use them for "fun" NEVER carry them or have them accessible for self defense? I have seen it before under the intense, only simulated stress while role playing using simunitions. IPSC shooter kills bad guy, clears dry fires and holsters, gets shot by 2nd bad guy never even looked for.

  • Kelly uses his for fun. I carry mine every day. I'm not worried about unloading and showing clear during a real shooting scenario, for 2 reasons:

    1. Maybe others are actually that stupid. I'm not.

    2. I don't get scared and freak out under pressure.

  • @parashooter40 That's what I said...till it happened to me.I didn't get scared and freak out under pressure either. When the situation de-escalated slightly, I calmly turned, dropped mag. ejected live round into palm, & started to show empty to a range officer who was not there. Recovered, reloaded & pretended that I was "Just getting ready for serious business" Years after I saw video of a Sheriffs Deputy kneeling behind car after a shooting incident start to do the very same thing.

  • @parashooter40 The more I know, the more I learn I don't know.I made mistakes in real life encounters because of ingraining bad habits on the range. I changed the way I train. You can do nearly everything right & wind up dead. You can almost do nothing right & come out OK. Percentages are better in the" Do nearly everything right column"Train like you fight, fight like you train.

  • @sbd45acp Hey man I hate to point this out but when we shot quals in the army it was the same shit and no one dropped a mag and tried to show clear in Iraq. Your argument is flawed but you keep mashing forward with it.

  • @Daytonaman675 Let's see.. you qual'd on any individual weapon before deployment how many times?- And during all the real fights you were in, no one clicked on an empty chamber, pointed a slide locked empty weapon and tried to fire it, forgot to unload before storage, or lock and load before action? You trained NOT to do any of THAT, Right? And if they did you surely would have seen every instance....

  • @sbd45acp I'm not all knowing but word like that gets around. We did have a guy with the 249 ride the bolt forward on a round and AD after comming through the gate. Every weapon in my vehicle was hot when we went out. With an M-16 you will not always feel the bolt lock back when you run dry through all the gear so i'm sure that happened in some firefights. As far as I'm aware of no one ever tried to show clear like you implied.

  • @sbd45acp There was an officer in NYPD (I belive) that was in a gun fight. When his mag went dry, he started to pick up the empty brass. That is how he trained in his department...so that is what he did in this situation. Almost got him KIA!

  • @Arwrologist Shooting well on square range & FIGHTING w/ firearms are NOT the same thing. Definitely related- but not the same. We had a Man-vs-Man on Steel match on 09/11/2011. 6 steel targets, mandatory reload- shoot down your last Popper before your opponent did.Under stress, shooters left up tgts they missed or had hit & not gone down. They did not scan after engagement, they DID NOT see a standing Tgt 5 yds away until it was pointed out! Fight like you train, Train like you fight.

  • Yeah because as everyone knows, bullets just go off by themselves in the air.

  • @markoftheking777 I agree with opensourcelinuxm. I guess markoftheking777 has never been to a uspsa match. You would be surprised by how many professionals do this same thing. There is nothing dangerous about it. The magazine was already released?

    Don't comment just to argue.

  • Agreed. Pistol was downrange the entire time. No compromise in safety that I observed from the video.

It takes a real pro to be able to "show off" even just a little, and still be 100% safe.

    Good show.

  • he didn't beat the buzzer, that was legit

  • Holy shit!

  • only thing is if you slow the video down to 25% you can see he started his draw before the buzzer. this is common when you use a fixed start time.

Still fast but more around 1.4 - 1.5 sec i would guess.

  • @mmrpm Wrong mmprm. This is a law of physics that you mentioned. Light vs. sound on the video. He did not cheat the timer. Rob Leatham teaches you to anticipate and react to the start of the timer beep. You can slow down a majority of these action videos and get the same effect that you mentioned.

  • common- Saw a fellow on our range, react to buzzer, cock, draw, and fire 5 rounds from an Uberti replica Dragoon 36 cal. with black powder and percussion caps in 1.10 sec. No fanning, no auto pistol, no DA shooting. Yes, it can be done- with 150 year old tech. Now that will make you cry

  • Holy cow! That's amazing. Not something I could ever come close to!

  • @OutsmarttheSystem Can you make a video of that?

  • You darn fancy gunslingers and your newfangled autoloading pistols. Bet you couldnt do that with pappy's old dragoon or bisley.

Just kidding, slick shooting. STI Edges make me cry.

  • That looks like my friend Kelly. Nice job bro. That's some incredible trigger squeezin!

  • It is, and it is!

  • Good stuff, well done!!!

  • What kinda gun is that?? just wondering.

  • P226 Or Beretta 92fs

  • The gun is an STI Edge.

  • Thank you, sir. You are a true gentleman.

  • How do you control the recoil so perfectly? The muzzle seems to not even rise at all. I've always wondered how people did that. I always have (expecially with a .45) tons of muzzle rise. What might I be doing wrong?

  • The two handed thumbs forward grip that most IPSC shooters use is fantastic for absorbing recoil. You don't really control it as much as you just let the gun cycle and keep everything centered so it rises straight up. The wrist rotated forward on the support hand causes the gun to return quickly to the point of aim.

Got to Rob Leatham's website. He used to have a series he did for American Shooter or somebody that shows you the grip and stance.

  • Thank you, I'll look that up. ;) Although, I think I use that grip anyway, but maybe not.

  • your grip and/or stance is probably off. .45 is obviously a larger recoil so its key to control the grip

  • Yea, I think I just wasn't holding it tight enough and maybe not quite high enough on the grip.

  • Forget the negative comments entirely. You and Kelly have got it right - a great performance is just that. If (when) some young kid comes along and shows everyone a whole new way to do it, we'll all say, "Wow! Great shooting!!" and mean it.

Serious shooters are always looking at what might be possible. Friendly competition is great of course, but those with truly big egos are "personna non grata".

Thanks for sharing a GREAT performance.

  • still nice shooting. bill drill or not, most people will be hard pressed to draw hands relaxed and land six rounds in 1.11 seconds. best bill drill i've done from surrender is still upwards of 3 seconds, our production GM in almost 2 flat.

  • Wow! You guys get really freaked out by a fast shooter. I just wanted to see how fast it really was. You know, kind of a quest to see who knows how fast someone can really go. It's almost like I said all you guys have short peckers or something! Get over it!

  • Very impressive shooting. But as others have pointed out, that was not a 'Bill Drill'.

  • Gentlemen-Let us define what a Bill Drill is. It is "Six at 7 in 2.0 " That is, Six A hits at 7 yards distance in 2 seconds (or less) from a concealment/carry holster with full power self defense/duty ammo.Starting from hands surrender position. COLD- On the first try- for record. Not the 100th or the 14th or even the 2nd try. Do that consistently, then you can talk smack. Do it with a revolver and you don't have to talk at all. Just ask Bill Wilson.

  • Geez, fellas, I know it's not a true Bill Drill. I thought I made that clear. We just don't like "Surrender position" draws. I dodn't realize I was talking smack, just responding to an unusually ugly message.

  • parashooter-My post was to all in general-not you specifically Your vid title is- " Record Bill Drill?" at the end the fellow states-" New world record"You know you are going to get alot of nit pickers for that alone.I never saw any post that stated otherwise- it

  • parashooter- last post cut off- It is still great shooting. I know from experience most folks cannot duplicate it. I did not see a post that stipulated it was not a true Bill Drill. You took the high ground in your replies- right up to the point when you made the small peckers comment...

  • Yeah, woops, I shouldn't have done that. His average time is of course slower, that one was the fastest of the day. We were trying to beat 1.25 seconds. My personal best is only 1.48 seconds. Mine was all A hits, but not a surrender draw. I hate those!

  • Just wondering,....is the Bill drill named after Bill Jordan,...or Bill Wilson?

  • I have always heard it was Bill Wilson. I don't Bill Jordan would have liked the phrase.

  • It was named after Bill Wilson who came up with the drill. Properly done, it is 6 A's on an IPSC target at 7 yds, this can be stretched to 10, 15, 25, or 50 yds, but it has to be all A's

  • Even if its a minor load he shoots its still above a factor of 125.

  • Wow that's fast. What was the draw time on that? Those splits have to be at the mechanical ability of the gun...

But I agree, needs to be A-zone hits from surrender for a true "Bill Drill". Still damn fast and nice shooting.

  • uhmm no..its .89 sec

  • uhmm no..its .89 sec

  • Although extremely fast, I have to agree. That is not a true "Bill Drill". I wonder if the shooter could do that with full power ammo and his carry weapon...

  • That's not a bill drill! Your hands must be over your head and all six shots must be in the A zone, not on a huge steel plate. sorry

  • @g21cforme That's what I thought, but I gotta admit I couldn't do it that fast on a broad side of a barn.

  • That is a sick run, fast as I've seen. Good job.

  • great draw! I wish I could get mine that fast

  • He might give Jerry Miculek a run for his money! Oh, JM is the revolver wiz with videos of him on the tube.

  • wow

  • I can beat you with bumpfire :D

  • atleast they have more to do than you...

all you do is post negative comments online!

by the way, i saw no fat people in the video.

  • not a ported gun, just smoky ammo. this guy can shoot any gun and any ammo, so don't feel too threatened just because he can pull the trigger faster than you. i can't do it either

  • Using an ipsc open ended holster & and ported setup with puffball loads not to impressive! Try using an everyday carry leather holster with full tilt loads no port and we'll see how fast you shoot! :-)

  • Lets see how fast you shoot.

  • Why don't you come to an IPSC match and we'll see how fast you get owned. By the girls. But you can't muster up the guts can you? Your smack is meaningless, COME TO A MATCH, BACK IT UP. Strap up. Prove it. PROVE it. PROVE IT. You're all talk, and not much else. You are dismissed.

  • I'm a Master class IPSC shooter, and we're both state champions. Game Over......

  • No S&#t...owned.

  • funny how people can talk shit about something they dont really know about huh? iv been training for IPSC stuff since i was 14( im now 19) and hope to start shooting matches soon now that im near a place that has them. how long have you been shooting?

  • Well fat boy since you blocked my other user name I'll post with a new one.

Yeah puff balls loads with a 2 oz trigger again big deal tubby (anyone fat ass with a fairly fast trigger finger can do the same)!

I'm Federally Certified Firearms Instructor (FLETC - FITP 305), IPSC Grand Master, IDPA Master, was on USMC shooting team 84' to 88', gulf war vet, former reserve deputy sheriff.

Game over ah yeah my ass!

  • Sir, why are you so angry? None of that matters. Why must you feel so threatened? I just thought it was pretty cool, that's all. If you can do better, that's great.

  • lol. owned.

  • o rly, YES RLY!!!!! i cant think of a better way to picture this situation than the o rly owls lol

  • So sad. I don't need to prove anything. I have plenty of trophies already. If I can't beat you on a given day, I'm okay with that. I'd say, "Well done. Nice shooting!" My smack is meaningless?? What does that even mean? *sigh*

  • I wasn't replying to you. I was replying to that other idiot that doesn't know anything about IPSC shooters or what we do. I thought that was one of the sickest runs I've seen. I'm an M also and I can't do it that fast.

  • that was smokin' fast!!!

  • Wow nice shooting!

  • Quick draw

  • Wow. Your friend was smoking.

  • Okay IPSC shooters, let's see how fast you can go!
