That's a very good cow to put up with that overly zealous dog and all and still stand so well. I've always found it's best to not rile the cows before milking anymore than you have to. The cows should come up to the barn without a dog's help. Also, what's the reason for that chain behind her legs? She's a good cow to not buck that. She ought to stand without it. In the summer you could just take your stool to the pasture and milk the cow where she stands. That's what we always used to do.
The kids were doing a better job of milking the cow. There was another video where the girl and the dog lead the cow to a an outdoor place and the girl leashes the cow and goes away. A woman comes and milks the cow. Then the girl brings another cow. A man milks the cow. The girl brings another cow and milks herself. But she throws the milk away
i thought i cows were just like buffaloes. check out a buffalo farm showing the animals, their feed, the milk output, and a lot more in my video. click on my name and scroll to the video titled "Buffalo Farm - Mumbai, India" - post a message if you like it! :D
It's really cute to see the kids milking! Most kids don't even get their hands dirty helping to cook...much less having a hand in procurring their actual food! Great job.
They actually love to milk and do the farm work. Our daughter was watching me shovel manure into a wheel barrow last year and wanted to try. She scooped up the dung with a pitch fork and even though it was heavy she managed to dump it into the wheel barrow. She got a huge grin on her face and said, "Now I know how to scoop poop!"
We have 2 heifers from our cows that we are milking now and we may milk them or perhaps sell them. Pezra's unexpected calf was part Red Angus- a beef cow as she was sharing a pasture with a Red Angus bull before we purchased her. Her calf Patrick was sold back to her previous owner and eventually he would have been eaten but he died unexpectedly. Our kids bottle fed Patrick and Fiona, our heifer some of our cows milk.
