  • I highly doubt there will ever be another band who could do ART this well. 40 years and counting, and it NEVER gets old.

  • I love the mellotron

  • Good Lord! Has Peter Gabriel really been that young in these days? ;-)

Thank you very much for this amazing time travel!

    Your faithful servant

    Edgar Allan Poe

  • One person accidentally pressed the dislike button, possibly frightened by the great story peter is telling us

  • GORGEOUS!!!!

  • isend this also called on for the vine?

  • this is an great song i love genesis,

  • You have progressive rock bands and then you have GENESIS on another level closer to GOD ! Thank`s for posting !

  • Small wonder Phil Collins was chosen from the drumming audition. I wonder who the other poor buggers were. Supposing Phil hadn't turned up that day?

  • Let´s kill him!!! XD

  • This song is a masterpiece! I have no other words to say: it's simply one of the most beautiful Genesis' song. =)

  • Indeed hard to believe such good audio is original, but sync seems very good. Congrats for the great video!

  • @johnwaynegacy94 Welcome to you having a horrible taste in music, pilgrims?

  • Que buena idea güey

  • Phil was awesome! I REALLY miss these guys.

  • @SuperGorak Phil Collins was one of the greatest drummers, just brilliant, played on alot of other artists' records

  • Best music. Feeling it.

  • How did u make the quality this good and fresh sounding? I've been watching/listening to the belgian show for years and it never has come close to the sound here! Cheers for posting!

  • @wildj611 I'm pretty sure that the audio is not from the same source as the video, which might explain the quality!

  • @Spyes23 Look at Hackett from 03:05. He's supposed to be tapping his guitar part, but instead he's fannying around!

  • @lazza747 WTF!? It's real O.o

  • @CanaleRock The video and audio are from different sources, as the video's description makes clear. Hackett is NOT tapping in the video when you hear him tapping in the audio. His right hand is at the bridge of his guitar! :-)

  • @lazza747 yeah, I noticed that. I could see Peter was lip synching.

  • One of the few songs where Mike's bass is in the forefront ala Chris Squire of Yes. Mike does not get enough credit ( underated ) as a bass player. His bass lines on all their songs are truly fantastic. Remeber; in Genesis, its sum is greater than the parts. Phil Collins to me is a top five drummer ever.

  • Thank you BlueRondo for posting this. So enjoyable. I am indebted to you for providing me with such pleasure.

  • its so great to see these early genesis videos showing up....

  • This is the 2000's my video looks like I'm looking thru venetian blinds most of the time.

  • Is it me or is Phil Collins really that great on the drums??

  • I remember watching this on TV in 72… what a moment at the time, already fan of the group !

  • I haven't the words for how much I love this song.

  • Ей, това е свободата Санчо. Да изразиш себе си...Толкова красива и волна музика...

  • @youliart What the hell does that say?

  • Nice quality; one of my all time favs! Thanks for posting-

  • The best, ever. Their music will live on and on.

  • If I was stuck on a desert island I would have three wishes-a phonographic player, all my favourite Genesis albums and a life times supply of needles.

  • I love this version. They actually make a few mistakes and at times it even feels like they are only just holding it all together, but its so compelling, Gabriel's energy is especially captivating. And this is the first time I've seen footage of them from this period without all the theatrical get up, I definitely appreciate Gabriel's costumes and characters there's something really refreshing about just seeing him more simply as a musician here. Also love how nervous Banks and Hackett look.

  • Hermoso registro, hermoso.

  • 1 imbecil nao gosta, fã do restart é obvio

  • Hackett doesnt seem to be into it. shame, great video otherwise.

  • @danjsy I believe Hackett was bloody nervous during this period of the band. Probably to terrified to look up. He said he loved the music.

  • @danjsy Hackett is in the band !!

  • @danjsy Quietly working away. A thinking man and that's not saying he's not feeling. I think he's totally commited. Where would they have been otherwise? Tell me if I'm wrong. A tangent I know, but I have to express myself - These guys put a SMILE on my face!!

  • @danjsy that's hackett style

  • This audio is so good. It could have come from a album!!!

  • Long live long hair....

  • That's awesome....I always thought the flute was a synth!!! Genesis is up there with Floyd and Zeppelin as my all-time favorites....

  • I can't breathe listening to this...

  • This music takes me back to my younger days,am so pleased that i was there, great band., thank you very much for sharing it with us.

  • I'm amazed we can see these videos today, thanks guys!

  • This is the song that sold me on genesis! That hammond organ opening is classic. And the songwriting is amazing.

  • Peter Gabriel & Tony Banks were the core of the band, school mates in high school, composing music together. They got one of their early home made tapes to Jonathon King, who graduated from the school earlier & who had a massive hit he wrote & sang "Everyone's Gone To The Moon." He was producing bands by then & immediately signed them. He produced their first album "From Genesis To Revelation" which went nowhere but he is credtied in naming the band: he felt they were embarking on something new

  • PS: my only drug is music, it's about reaching exhilaration, letting your mind drive and just enjoy the ride. The Absolute thrill.

  • At this moment, it feels like Someone push me from the top of a cliff, I'm falling faster and faster, everything disapear around me, no landscapes, not even a soil. ...................Blank ........ So I'm falling in the nothingness. My mind is having a roller coaster trip, My vision alterates, I enter a very new world Unknown, Frightening, Exciting, Whitout colours and my body become useless. My mind is condemned to roam in that undefinable field.

Then it's so hard coming back to real life !!

  • the man who put dislike should kill himself

  • @jorjatopik we drown him in the fountain of salmacis :)

  • @jorjatopik Really? You think someone should kill themself for having a different taste in music than you?

  • @OatmealHorse here comes the boring guy

  • @OatmealHorse Yes? Because this isn't just music, this is fucking art. Something you wouldn't understand.

  • incredible...incredibly ambitious....one of my favs

  • What i would give to see this line up of Genesis, the original line up of King Crimson and the Close to the Edge line up of Yes. In some other life perhaps.

  • Can't help but feel how blessed I was to grow up during an era when music of this caliber was readily available. Also feel sad for those who have to accept what passes as music for today. Where will those songs be 10,20,30 or 40 yrs. from now? Luckily ignorance is truly bliss.

  • Superb (seen this lots of times but had to put a comment on :)

  • EARGASMIC, each time I listen to Genesis.

  • Wow. Loved this video. They are all sooooo young in it!

  • This recording is unbelievable! How did you find it BlueRondo? You have any more of these? Don't keep them for yourself only, please!

This is THE progressive rock band in the world. There will be no other.

  • @polvotone no

  • Best... band... EVER!

  • genesis is one of the best prog bands ever! they influenced me as a musician more than any other band. i got one of my shortlived bands to cover watcher of the skies and dance on a volcano, but todays audience doesn't get it. this band truly amazes me and it still makes me sad thinking about when peter left...the end of an era

  • Fantastic music. Make no mistake. Peter is a genius.

  • The collection of talent in this band has never been and probably never will be equaled.

  • The skies opened up...GENESIS came down and populated the Earth. And it was good.

  • Probably the greatest live group of it's time. Phil Collins is one of the greatest drummers as is proven on this incredible video of one of my favorite Genesis songs.Of course Peter, Tony, Mike, and Steve are fabulous as usual.Mindblowing Great.

  • @psfirthoffith , Phil Collins' drumming is insanely sharp in this performance. It's a shame more people don't recognize how good of a drummer he used to be. One of the all time best.

  • Why did Phil Collins have to turn the band into a pop group? Why did Peter Gabriel do a Freddie Mercury and believe that everything he did later on in life was better than what he did when he had long hair?

When I was 16 I thought music would always be this good. It disappeared so very very quickly...........

  • @probablygraham

    discover super furry animals ....

  • @probablygraham Even after Gabriel they had great tracks to play Live : Domino, Home by the Sea, Mama, The Lady Lies, Deep in the Motherlode, Down and Out, Dukes Travels, Behind the Lines, Abacab,Dodo, The Brazilian, Tonight³,Fading Lights, Jesus He Knows Me, Dreaming while you sleep, Cul de Sac, No Reply at all... All are great songs, just like the whole Nursery Chryme eg, great album :D

But funny, I AM 16 NOW NOW NOW NOW, and wish that all this good music will come back :-(

  • Heaven sound so...

  • I've recently came across this epic song on my playlist and now iam obsessed with it! playing it over and over and over haha!

What a band and so damned original, makes a heck of a lot of bands ..just sound like noise!

  • Where are the vocals at 3:49 ?

  • This just reminds you how music has devolved over the years. You can't even call the filth made today 'music'. Do you think Justin Bieber knows what key his 'songs' are in?

  • This is true art in the form of music! If only today's bands could put this kind of passion into their work.

  • oh wow, havent heart this in so long, i got tears in my eyes at the first chord... AMAZING prog rock!!!!!

  • maan greatest band ever!...great stories in their songs, they'r more than just band they're genius artists

  • one of the greatest videos on youtube! fucking GENIOUS band, one of the greats for sure and obviously in my tops favs!

  • Only four comments here, really?. I just have this to say. TRUE ART !!! Artists who create with passion and inventiveness. I get chills down my spine every time I see this band. A level of genius and musicianship incomparable. Genesis at it's absolute best. I never tire of this band. Each time I re-discover something new and fresh.

  • @art2architecture

I agree with every single word you've written. Incomparable. He is incomparable, they are incomparable.

  • One alien aong us...

  • @art2architecture

even if i tried, i could never put it better myself, right to the point there!!!

  • Fantastic stuff from one of the best prog rock band of all time!!!

  • Irreproachable, blameless.

Peter Gabriel – lead vocals, flute, hand percussion.

Steve Hackett – electric and acoustic guitars.

Tony Banks – organ, acoustic and electric pianos, mellotron, acoustic guitar, backing vocals.

Mike Rutherford – bass guitar, bass pedals, backing vocals.

Phil Collins – drums, percussion, backing vocals.

  • Pure awesome. Sigh. Seeing this is like rediscovering a lost love.

  • Excellent son. Dommage à 3:48, on n'entend pas le début. ;-(((
