  • there was a part two awsome!!!! made my day=D

  • I am biased to the degree that I like Kubrick's version better. I felt it captured Nabokov better than Lyne, without forgetting its a film.

  • Lolita wasnt supposed to be mature she was supposed to be vulgar and annoying which Swain captured. Your comment about the '97 Lolita intro being like "a wet t-shirt contest was pretty accurate though.

  • ..The 1962 version is more subtle and left to interpretation which is a testament to the times in which it was released. The 1997 version is more emotional and explains the Humbert character better. One mistake Lyne made was to ignore charlottes character too much and treat her as a nonentity. The relationship between Lolita and Humbert is also better explained in Lynes version I feel.

  • I agree with you. Kubrick's Charlotte is so much more interesting and creates a heightened drama between Lolita and Humpert later on, while in Lynes version there is just the relationship between Humpert and Lolita, so it apppears less is on the line. Thanks for your comments!

  • Although I find your comparison somewhat biased...I love your interpretations. You have pointed out a few things I never noticed before. I also feel like you downplay the 1997 version a little too much. I think both movies are great
