CHARIOT OF FIRE, and HORSES OF FIRE, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. I actually find it hilarious because choirs all across the country are singing about alien space craft and they don't even realize it. Clearly Ezekiel saw a UFO. Its the only CLEAR passage in the Holy BIble which describes an object identical to modern day UFOs. Ezekiel describes glowing, metal wheels in the sky with "creature" that have the face of man inside them. He says the wheels move back and forth like flashes of lightening.
1:24 "jah" sopranos were flat. 1:28-1:33 tenors were flat. Not enough bass 1:35-end of song and the choir starts going flat at 1:56. Sopranos sharp last chord. 2/5 stars
@TheJaredtube Yeah, I feel you. I saw some stuff too. Theres some other passages too. Like Numbers 10:34 and Acts 1:9. The ancients might have seen UFO's and might have only had the word cloud to describe them. They could have been cloud ships or possibly a ship that looks like a pillar that surrounds its self with a gas cloud. Me and friends once saw a star ship that was able to make its aura field very visible to even them, who didn't usually see auras. It had a strong force field.
damn, our choir sang it so much better. we got to work with THE stephen hatfield today and sang this song for an audience, but in a much different - better - arrangement. it was so much more clear and dictated, not to mention a hella lot more uplifting.
Um..We're singing this song for our Chamber Choir for this Fall. I could barely hear the Alto 1s and Soprano 2s. Perhaps this is a much faster tempo and different because it involves boys..Only girls in our Chamber this year.. ;)
This is a wonderful song, but you're right dum samdum the tenors were a bit shaky at the begining. Towards the end is when i started feeling it the rest was kind of dry.
Rather a prophet informing us of the the power and glory of God testifying through the whirlwind, His symbol of destruction, woe, scattering and restoration, trying to warn some that God is real His cup of wrath being full.
i dont kno...maybe it was the acoustics, but i wwas feelin this rendition...lacked energy and some parts sounded wrong....not tryna hate, but it wasnt a great performance...
Well done... pretty fast and because of that pretty difficult. But it seems that there is a part missing, IIRC there should be a short interlude between the tenor solo... But still nice
puppetmaster, you have no proof of that. were you there when the guy wrote the song? more importantly, were you there when ezekiel saw the wheel? i didnt think so!
what an Odd Title. Ezekiel's "wheel" when you read it in the Old Testament sounds like he's describing something he doesn't understand. My theory on what he saw is one of 3. First he saw an Alien humanoid or something technological, (our god's soldiers). He was eating Mushrooms (magic), he was seeing a traveler from the Future.
actually, it is the way that the acoustics are supposed to be, so sorry to bust ur bubble. also, if they pronounced the words "right" it would sound HORRIBLE! the sopranos are dead on, and they all sound AMAZING!
I thought the hat was a very good performance of a song that is not easy to do.I have not heard this song since I was in my high school choir.I graduated in 1968.Thanks for the memories.L.vinson

I cant believe yall messed up this Moses Hogan peice, there was no emotion, lyrical and musical skill n the soloist walk up and sang the dag on solo like he was forced to n the last thing on his mind is singing in tune lmao...yall need work
This isn't even a Moses Hogan arrangement; it's definitely by William Dawson. Before you criticize others, please know what you're talking about so you can come correct (excuse my slang). I'm sure they tried their best.

not trying to offend anyone but maybe your instructor needs to do a little more research on the peice it is a negro spiritual and it was pronounced Ezekel and H.T. Burleigh did this and no one else... like I said educate yourself before you speak.
in DarthVader36's defense, my high school is doing it now, and the song is called 'ezekial saw the wheel', and the pronunciation is written as e-zee-kee-ahl.
what version is this? Surely it is not The William Dawson peice or some arranger screwed it up. Because in the origional it states *pronounce EZEKUL when singing it is even wrote E-ze-kul saw de wheel. so If you are doing a different piece I think that's sad because this is supposed to be a negro spiritual and Pieces like these is what made the college choirs in the 40's a smash... and it was because it was sang like the slaves in the fields which way do you think the slaves pronounced it?
Ok...umm..My high school choir did this song last year and, no offense, but our was much better. For one, you guys sang the song way too slow. Two, the solo was absolutely horrid. The only inch of saving grace for this song was the sopranos did pretty good. 1 star =/
The harmony was awful (like my spelling....). I remember singing this song in my high school choir, as a tenor. It was a different version but still... some of guys were off. The solo OMG!! so monotone doesn't really give a good impression of the intire choir if HE was the best they could choose. The girls were pretty good though, when they came in, it was like "Wow". I saw another version on here which was simply AMAZING!!
Cathedrals and Basilicas suck for singing spirituals... trust me I know. The soloist was awful! The S2's are flat at the ostinato section and the S1's are flat on the last chord. It amazes me how good choirs never step foot overseas but all of these mediocre and bad choirs get to travel all over the world.
Uh. The solo at about 42 seconds should have been soulfull. When I hear it, I always think about a black slave woman like Harriet Tubman warning some of my ancestors(other slaves)that they better be on the look out for Satan and his wrath. Loosin' up a bit and let the music move you; show some soul! soloist.
i the last chord i could on hear the first tenors on that high G for maybe an eighth note at the end. my choir just sang this song yesterday in the issma state final ocmpetition.
In the middle of the "dooma-looma/wheel; wheel/wheel in a" section you went flat for a couple of pages, and by pages I mean like 4 measures each, because there are so many parts to this song.
Hey, I'm from Easton, PA. If you're around the area, we have quite the reputation for kicking butt. Your video was good; most high school choirs can't even pull it off at all.
