bjork has the temperament of a little girl. there's an innocence; an innocence to her curiosity and honesty. it's very refreshing and addictive. i could easily fall in love bjork.
@SourStrawberrys yeah lets get him... interestingly enough the pronouncing of Bjork rhymes with jerk as in ' byerk ' ...so many people get it wrong and think her name rhymes with york as in 'Byork' ..why does that anger me so?
@gofightlose People say that she was feeling rather than acting, but it's impossible to become a character like this without either of those characteristics. Bjork is absolutely nothing like Selma, perhaps besides the quirkiness.
It's just incredible to see how a versatile actot Peter Stormare is. It's hard to believe that actually it was the same actor that played the cold blooded killer in Fargo. And in this movie he's just so incredibly nice...
Bjork did one art film before this, in Iceland, but I've never seen it. After this film, she had said she would never make another movie. I think she will probably be steadfast in that resolution, as this performance and this director could only converge once in a lifetime, as it were.
@REREWHO i totally agree. bjork was on par with the best actresses in the business in this film. she was amazing real and i felt everything that came from her, whether it was her lines or actions or little nuances, it felt so real. idk how she didn't get an oscar for this.
thank you so much for this. i love how selma's like, "...and you forgot to wrap up the bread...yeah, TWO times." deneuve and bjork were brilliant in the film.
it's crazy, yeah? im reading deneuve's "L'ombre sur moi-meme" and she said that trier used about 100 cameras per shot that were hidden so he could get takes from every angle.
hey. yeah, i noticed that there was quite a lot of handheld filming. i think i misread what catherine was saying. i know she said there were a LOT of cameras that were hidden around so that every angle was filmed, but she also said something about him using the 100 camera--is that a type? idk. im clueless about types of cameras, but anyhoo, there were many hidden. you should pick up the book if you like deneuve. and sorry! the title is "A L'ombre DE moi-meme," not "sur moi-meme." :D
bjork still looks like a kid herself. but she still fits the role. this is really nice. a friend of mine told me about this

I like Bjork's voice, even her speaking voice is very unique.
I'm not really into the film but I'll give it a chance.

Awful movie. Terrible acting, retarded camerawork, abysmal story direction that tries far too hard to be DEEEEEP.
Bjork is a good actress, though.

Bjork is a better actor than some of the actors in this movie. And I don't think she ever acted before!

i usually thought singers were usually not very good at acting but bjork was really good, at the end when she was crying, it was soo real and sad!

I also read on the DID website they used a hand held camera for alot of it
I wonder if you could spot any of trhe hidden cameras.

@faceofjesusinmysoup The camera work is annoying except in the musical numbers, where it works.
