Edwards is NOT taking a dime from corporate lobbyists or PACs! He's the one talking about how foreign lobbyists have influenced bad trade deals for the U.S.!
I'm so excited about your candidacy! If you are elected, I trust your word that you will raise taxes more. Since 50% of my income goes towards taxes already, I'll be better off collecting welfare or I'll file for Soc Security benefits because I get charlie horses + my hemorrhoids have been giving me trouble lately. I certainly won't have to worry about a health ins policy anymore with you in office! I'll have everything I need. Good luck John!
Thanks. I'll do more research before I respond. For me, the 2nd amendment has a crucial opening clause about a 'well-regulated militia' that often seems ignored. How can the Constitutional right to bear arms - to be part of a well-regulated militia - justify ownership of deadly automatic weapons by just about anyone? These weapons in the hands of the mentally ill or criminal lead to tragedies like Omaha & VA Tech. The right to own guns is NOT more important than other people's right to life.
i don't give a fuck about his gun policies, what I really care about is mandatory medical coverage, college for everyone (so our kids won't have to die for iraqi, irani or other kinds of creaps miles and miles away)I also support alternative energy initiative that would let us finally say ADiOS to Bush's favorite nation SAUDI ARABIA, shut Chavez up and bring our people more jobs.
Are you a freak? So...u don't think it's an honor to serve in the military? If the taliban were coming to get your ass, I bet you'd want a military then.
that's not what I was trying to say. Serving in the Military is huge HONOR. Remember general Clark? When he ran the military operations in Kosovo casualties were ZERO. Don't you feel sorry for those kids who died in Iraq? Taliban would never be coming to get my ass. United States got nuclear power for the emergencies like this. I don't thing Taliban is stronger than fucking Soviets.
LIGO: Those were your words: "college for everyone so our kids won't have to die for iraqi, irani.." The only thing that could have meant is that getting a college education & a "good" job is better than joining the military.
LIGO: Secondly, how could you actually call yourself a republican and then support these lib ideas? Healthcare & College for everyone...my ass. Whatever happened to earning your own way thru life? I notice you're 21. I have 4 kids & 50% of my income is gone in taxes. If a dem gets in, I'll work more for the govt than my own family. That's near communism in my book....
friend, here's what happened. There's a hard way and an easy one. I want the easy one so I could save my energy for something bigger. I'm happy that you live a good life, raised 4 kids, God Bless You for that! How about kids from poor areas? white kids, black kids, lations? They need a chance too! They are part of America, just like you are. Only thing is they are poor.
This country has ALWAYS had rich, middle-class, and poor...this is not something new. The govt has chisled away at the income of hard-working Americans for years and it has to stop somewhere. 1/2 of my income is now longer enough....ridiculous.
LIGO: Also, I already pay for welfare, medicare, medicaid, food stamps, govt housing, etc. After Univ Health Care, what's next? Let's pay the electric bill for every "poor" American?, Let's buy every "poor" American a car so they can go to work? There are county hospitals for the poor...it's not as though there's not any healthcare available to the poor.
LIGO: You sound relieved to know that our military would protect you. Yet, at the EXACT same time, you think kids should choose college instead of military AND at the the EXACT same time, you support a dem who is not very big on defense.
my friend, the military shouldn't get involved in ground operations. The war in Irag should've been conducted the way military operations were run in Kosovo by general Wes Clark. We just need to bomb fuckers and then demand they surrender. If there're no ground operations then all we need is professional military pilots. Missles, Bombers, Submarines - that's how a war should be fought. ONE DEATH OF A GI IS WAY TOO MUCH, WAY TOO MUCH!!!
I haven't exactly STUDIED Ron Paul's views -I've listened to him in debates and watched some of his videos. I've been impressed with his commitment, passion and articulate defense of his beliefs. BUT I disagree with both him and you on some of the most fundamental questions involving the proper role of the federal government. That's why I'm a Democrat and why I'd guess you are probably a Republican or maybe an Independent.
Cont.: On constitutional rights - Edwards will restore habeus corpus; end the disgrace of Guantanamo, secret prisons, and torture; and stop illegal warrantless wiretapping. He's not proposing large tax increases, though he's honest in saying some of his programs will cost money. He'd fund higher health care costs by rolling back Bush tax cuts for those earning over $200,000. Just because he used the word privilege, I don't think he views the 2nd amendment as something optional.
As far as the 2nd Amendment....Edwards had TWO choices on what to call it (that was the whole idea of the question)...he CHOSE to call it a "privilege".
Right on Mr. Edwards. This ad is simple and to the point. We`re busting our rear-ends off and lucky we get a pay check and yet CEOs are getting a years pay in 10 minutes.
Your comment - and your statistics - are skewed by moralistic judgments that don't take into account the very real economic crisis that an increasing number of Americans confront as the middle class is being eroded by current policies that favor the wealthy at the expense of working people.
I know of no American who as a single person makes over 50k a year and does not purchase health insurance. if they don't, its becuase they have a pre-existing condition that makes it cheaper to insure themselves.
He is just running so that he can be Hilary's VP and so same thing he did in 2004.He only gets support because he is good looking. He is simply not trustworthy for the presidency.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Who says my kids need to have it better than me? They should work for everything they want as I did. Edwards got his by suing companies out of business.
He got his by taking corrupt businessmen and assholes willing to kill people with the shoddy crap they made. You just have absolutely no grasp of reality. Please try watching both sides of an issue before you open your very ignorant mouth.
John fights for families and everyday Americans--to give them a voice in a system that is riding roughshod over its citizens--even its children and military veterans, whom Republicans say they value.
Go, John, Go! You have my vote! We need to return to the solid American values you live by.
I don't go on Ron Paul, Mike Gravel or Dennis Kucinich sites, tearing them down and calling them names, and, personally, I'm a bit tired of hearing about the CFR. John Edwards has admitted, repeatedly, that he was wrong on the Iraq war vote. He's absolutely different from Bush and he has a fighting chance to win this election.
He also admitted that he did not read the patriot act before passing it. That is not someone that should be eligible to run this country. He is running to be a VP. Period. A year from now, when the Hilary/Edwards campaign is making its tour across America, remember this comment.
You don't go tearing Ron Paul , Mike Gravel, and Dennis Kucinich because you can't. They are trustworthy leaders with voting records to back it up.
Yes I could. As this site proves, anyone can post derogatory comments based on nothing more than differences of opinion and/or bad manners. I've heard Ron Paul opposed civil rights legislation - very disturbing if true. I COULD spend my days researching that and then tearing him down if that's true. Not going to do that. My focus is positive effort for Edwards, the candidate I support, imperfect though he may be. (Paul, Gravel, and Kucinich, being human, are imperfect, too.)
Cont. of comment: I didn't mean to say you didn't have reason for what you were saying. Also, I like Ron Paul, Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich. Kucinich was my guy during the primary rounds in 2004, and I love Ron Paul's fierce defense of our Constitution. But the Democrats NEED TO WIN this time and Edwards is my first choice this time. He's a passionate advocate for ordinary Americans, action on global warming, ending the war, and protecting our constitutional rights.
Ron Paul had foresight and voted against it when it actually mattered. These politicians who miraculously change their minds when it becomes politically profitable make me sick. People DIED in the iraq war it is not an issue you can just go "oh yeah I made a mistake but elect me cause I won't do it again." you had your chance edwards you won't receive my vote.
