First, take out the manual ... then toss it aside. LOL
I checked out a friend's HF rig and Buddipole setup tonight. Think I'm going to buy one for myself after his demonstration. We were in a bad spot, surrounded by tall buildings, and still got out pretty well.

I'm considering buying a Buddypole however is needing to adjust coils every time you want to change bands is annoying? I can only do HF portable as I live in an apartment & there is just too much RF noise here. I string the G5RV up between 2 or 3 lightweight 10m squid poles at the park & can work the world without having to adjust coils & works from 80m to 6m. The antenna takes under 10 min to set up & rolls up really small & is about 1/10 the price of BP. What would be my advantage with BP? 73
Hmm, You do have to adjust the coils to jump between bands but the fine tuning is done with the whips.
I've put the 3 coil clips per coil plus the extras that are free in the package on so that its as simple as just unplugging the jumper from one clip to the other to change bands.
It takes about the same time time to setup i.e about 10 minutes to get the air, It comes in a compact sausage shape bag which quite small I though as it has a 16 foot mast in it. ran out of ch
Its not as long as a 102 foot G5RV, No ATU needed as its possible to get an exact match from 2m to 40m (80meters as well with home brew elements).
Its rotational. It can be a vertical.. it can be a turned into a yagi..
I can put the supplied holdall over my shoulder and ride my motorbike easily.
The price is the only negative I can see really. its not just all talk, this antenna is a performer and proves itself every time I use it another 3,500 mile + today on 2.5w
I watched and watched and finally bit the bullet.
Mine arrived! with extra arms, long black whips extra it collars and 6m 3 element BP yagi here I come, thanks mark. David - 2e0ddg

My first QSO with my Buddipole was W4KRT on 14.244 on a dx net the day after this video.
A 4298.9 mile distance covered with 5 watts from the FT-817nd and the Buddipole deluxe long version @16feet above the ground on the 20 meter band.
Thats 859.78 miles per watt.
Maybe my mile per watt record...
