I dont fly...I would like to very much. I have been watching video's and reading stuff on the sport and am very excited to try it.. but i live in central nj the closest school i have found is 3-4 hrs away.Ive been calling local airports to see if i can track down a instuctor that would be willing to teach me..anyway i have a question why dont they put tent pole or something in the wings to prevent callapse..it seems like the obvious thing to..im just curious why they dont?
Cool. I flew my new ozone ultralight 25 for the first time today, my first wing is UP makalu 2003 L, it turned me from avarage p3 pilot to a world champ, OMG... huge difirence, the ozone want to fly i didnt even pulled the raisers and the glider is above my head and waiting for me, pushed the thradle and within 3 steps i am up, full controll no surprizes, love it, if you think you are not as good, think again, it might be your gears.
Last time I "played around" with the boundaries on a reflex wing, it made funny noises. I'd love to get with an expert and make a "reflex" video, though.
Remember, always consult a professional-- that way you can blame someone else.
@444paraflyer Just goes to show how far the safety of wings have come on over the years. Hung from a bit of fabric with some string really isnt as bad as its sounds lol!!
Paul, that is one of the best info type videos I have seen. Matter of fact, it is the first really good video that I have seen where someone does collapses and asymmetrics in full view and how to perform them. Great job!

How much did Mac Para charge to put "rescue" on it?
shaneman250 1 year ago
@shaneman250
I did that with duct-tape : it was for a "moron" video. I didn't have time to take it off before I shot this video.

Just a wee question, how do you recover from a full frontal collapse if it happens unintentionally?

Nice one Paul!
Could you make one with a reflex wing for the rest of us!
(outside US I mean!)

I've been wanting to do this kind of education video for a while.
Kudos for doing so.
My Silex 22m wing loading is such that I really have to pull HARD on the As to get big ears. Perhaps I need a bigger wing (or lighter motor).
pnd97 1 year ago
@pnd97 Could be wing loading or wing design or both. Some wings don't do big-ears easily.

Would like to know why the wing did not recover from the last collapse and the pilot had to pump the wings out to recover the wing?
saplasma26 1 year ago
@saplasma26 On some wings the wing tips must be "pumped" out, and on others they come out by theirselves.
