It is very much like the original as it even has the same computer console. FOX never got tired of using it even when the rest of the world had moved onto Microchips. But hey - nothing like banks of flashing lights
Great revised intro! Always luved this one as a kid, shame it never went to series. And, yes, while it was on the cheap side, it was a more adult take on The Time Tunnel. Who knows what it would've been like had it gone to series...?
The stairwell is very cheap. The Time Tunnel sets were great compared to this.I hate the computer props,I mean they were outdated even for Lost in Space.Irwin Allen reused them upto 1980.
I can't agree with you more...The Time Tunnel puts this show to shame!
The set pieces were fantastic, and the moody music, and the uncertain future (or past) that Tony and Doug always stumbled into..it made for a great TV show.
Allen really knew how to use props to his advantage, and to create an atmosphere.
We sure could use Irwin Allen to show em' how it's done, esp. in THESE days! He was a true visionary and saw the future in truly fantastic ways that none before him could.
I knew it was one of the Irwin Allen series. Naturally it would be this one. How about City Beneath the Sea--the original version and The Man from the
The last time this pilot/movie aired was on the EncoreAction channel about five years ago. It was an interesting concept but Time Tunnel had explored all these possibilities several years earlier. Still, this pilot made good use of existing sets and stock footage as TT did. I believe this pilot can currently be found as a DVD extra on one of the Lost In Space series.
i remember the TV Movie on ABC Tuesday Movie Of The Week on Tuesday march 11,1975. starring Sam Groom and Tom Hallick. it should have been a TV series for 1975-1976 season By The Way Then irwin allen and rod serling. please rest in peace. where ever you are. richard basehart appeared in time travellers. as dr.joshua p.henderson. Irwin we miss you.
Damn! I forgot that ROD SERLING was co-writer. This was from 1976,right? Wow...two major writing genuises... Favorite quotes: From the time travellers: "Let's get back to the steps before they collapse!" From the professor: "We brought you back here to New Orleans instead of the usual lab." The travellers' response: "You mean, you never did that before?!"
That's got to be the cheapest time machines in the history of sci-fi movies: a stairway surrounded by dry-ice fog.
The 19th-century street is actually the New York street set left over from Fox's 1969 production of "Hello Dolly." When the two lead actors materialized on the steps of the elevated train platform, I expected them to break into a chorus of "Before the Parade Passes By"!
Thank you! I had a ton of fun putting it together. The theme music is outstanding, by Morton Stevens (Hawaii Five-O, etc.) and my favorite of his latter day SF themes. :-)
