  • You'll have to forgive me but i dont like it

i'm used to Chris being surrounded by loud blasting instruments not this techy stuff, just not my thing

  • if u liked him before i cant see how u could like this crap. how did this happen?

  • o god x.x as soon as the beat came on i faved it.. this song is amazing <3!

  • you rockers kill me. this song is shit but the rock version (which is basically the same damn song except with added guitars and distortion) is just great?!? yall some dumb asses. this version is tight too.

  • @hargroove2 Theres guitars in this as well, yet in the rock version there are none of those annoying sound effects that fucking Timbaland puts in every one of his songs.

  • I gotta say i like it a lot.

    Nice experimentation =)

  • Comment removed

  • He's got to pay for his house in Bel Air somehow. This sucks ass, but Timbaland gets the bills paid yo!

  • embarassing.

  • omg grunge goes mainstreams... cornell kill all for what the grunge bands have stands.

    Overproduce... and shit.

  • this is a madd song

  • I allowed myself to be swayed by the critics at first, and just panned this album. Then I listened to it in the background a second time, and then a third, and each time I heard more and more that kept me coming back. I think this is one of Chris Cornell's better songs, and think the material on this album is stronger than the stuff on either of his previous solo albums.

So I say to heck with the critics. Listen to what you like.

  • I'm with you on that one dude!

  • @JMierek He did say that he truly enjoyed making this album in comparison to any other.

  • where can i download this ? please tell me

  • this video or the song? The entire record is on itunes and amazon mp3's just search chris cornell. If you want this video lemme know!

  • did any of you realize that in his chorus of singing "cause im long gone, long gone" that it sounds like alvin and the chipmunks are singing it. oh and ya hate the ryan secrest ads and the rock version completely blows this crap out of the water

  • lol alvin and the chipmunks! Chris' voice is high but I don't know about THAT high! Anyway this was a radio rip about a month before you could buy the song off itunes, thus the ryan seacrest bit. Anyway ya I agree the rock version much better.

  • ok lol ya i wasnt trying to dis you or anything for posting the video. actually i give u props for getting it off the radio cause i am not that technilogically inclined lol. and its just the synthesizing that makes it sound like alvin and the chipmunks its not how high it is its just the distortion.

  • *sigh* I prefer the rock version :)

  • this is an amazing song with an amazing vocal performance and an amazing beat. cornell did a great job with this album

  • have you heard the rock version just released two days ago? It's the video response on this video, check it out!

  • He didnt sell out. Infact he ALIENATED all of his fan base. which btw isnt selling out since hes loosing money...

All you pussy ass cornell fans who dont appreciate music need to gtfo, seriously. He didnt sell out, hes just making music.

  • worst album ever from a great singer

  • i find this much more listenable than Carry on is.

  • The songs ok, but I can't help feeling like Chris has sold out. These songs don't compare to Eurphoria Morning or Soundgarden.

  • WHAT THE FUCK...

FUCK TIMBALAND...WHAT KIND OF A NAME IS THAT AFTER ALL....?? THE LAND OF TIMBA??PFFFFFF

or as wE say in greece: SKATAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

  • unaa mierrfdaaa

    puta q la cagaste Cornell

    ibas exelente

  • i personally love this song, i haven't really listened to much of Chris' earlier stuff, but i think this song is amazing. He has an amazing voice, and Timbaland has incredible skill, so i reckon its a great combination with a lot of talent and promise.

  • I think the lyrics are really good but the production ruins it for me.

  • check out the Long Gone Rock version just released, it's the video eresponse to this vid

  • wow Chris Cornell totally ruined his own legacy with this bullshit....What a big disapointment

  • Fuck timbaland for prostituting Cornell!

  • what the hecks with "on air with ryan seacreast"

  • this was the first time the song was played back in the summer even before the single was released. This recording was taken from the Ryan Seacrest show interview where they played it throughout to keep the bootleggers from getting a good recording.

  • Basura mediatica CARETA!!!!! no se puede vender asi!!!!

  • It's selling pretty well so far, but if that will hold up remains to be seen of course

  • What the hell? Que asco, que le pasó a este weon? Las drogas le taponearon el cerebro? Se ha vuelto loco... De dónde sacó está basura??? Esta bien explorar las fronteras del rock, pero esto es cómo musho, no? Malo, muy malo

  • my spanish isn't that great, but I think you said Chris' brain is fried on drugs and this is more than just exploring the boundries of rock...is that right?

  • I really hope he goes back to rock as well.. This is like a sumowrestler trying to dance ballet: it's just... wrong!

Chris is amazing. One of my absolute favourite singers of all time. Let's just supress this album and pretend like it never happened

  • this sucks!!!!

  • I'm a lifelong fan of Cornell and rock and roll in general. Having said that, I don't mind the decision to go mainstream. Chris' voice still sounds great, and I'm sure this new sound will generate him some serious income. As far as rock and roll goes, other than hardcore and more undergroung stuff, does it even still exist?

  • i actually like this song, not bad

  • oh man chris cornell.

i like that hes changed... i think he has more potential than hes shown before.

but i think he went the wrong way.

    come back chris.

  • Watch the interview, it explains a lot.

  • The interview is simply marketing. Doesn't explain anything except Cornell trying to not lose fans that don't like rnb. Same reason metalicca released the live version of songs from st anger with the album so you could hear them played with a decent sounding drum kit. They know they're releasing crap but they also know you can cover that up with a good marketing campaign. Cornell will go back to rock, I've never seen him look so bored performing songs than the videos of performances from scream.

  • well hopefully he will release a live version of Scream too as the consensus seems to be the live versions sound the best.

  • chris cornell should work with mike shinoda, thats a good combination.

  • definitely

  • agreed

  • I have followed Cornell's career from the early days of soundgarden and am a huge fan. This move was totally unexpected and I was quite devastated when I heard that he was going to be working with timbaland - however Chris's last solo album was not good and very stale. Maybe a change of direction was what was needed. I quite like some of the tracks that have been leaked.

  • the lyrics and singing are good i'll admit its the "beats" that i dont like this sng would be better played with a power chord behinds it. not a drum machine.

  • that's pretty much the consensus. Look up the live version that was played on late night with Jay Leno it's pretty good. Maybe we'll get a live record to go along with it...

  • this album is an embarrassment. timbaland? wtFFFFF??? this is shit

  • How would you know already? you get some kind of advance copy or something?

  • yes its called PIRACY

  • Let's relax everyone. Do you think Kurt Cobain's music would still sound like it did in 1991 if he were alive and making music today? Chris Cornell is talented enough to make many different kinds of music.

  • agreed, I'm sure Chris will get back to making more rockin' albums in the future!

  • for sure!

  • I agree with that statement, but I never would have imagined THIS.

  • Im soooo disappointed with criss :(. This is shame. I mean Soundgarden, Audioslave, his previous solo works... Didnt he thougth how much fans will he dissapiont greedy asshole.

  • Timbaland adds the SAME fucking beat to every song he "produces"

Everything he does sounds like the beat he did behind the Apologize cover

a couple of random bass beats with clapping in between

  • ....not really

  • Chris.....dude! What the fuck have you done? Working with that talentless ass timbaland. All he does is add electronic beats to songs and calls them his own. This is shit. Make a real record man!

  • great job timba and chris luv the sound

  • I dont care if tis rock or pop or whatever I likw it

    p.s

Timbo did his shit as usual in this song.

  • Change is the way of the world?? LOL

This is a great dissapointment for most Soundgarden, grunge, rock fans. As simple as that.

  • Haters...Pull your head out of your 'arse'.change is the way of the world! Enjoy all while you can.....

  • I like the old Chris Cornell. His voice and lyrics are awesome, but this new thing, just isn't what I like.

  • this is nothing like what chris cornell dun on his albums i dont like it im usually open to music other than rock and i dont mind timbaland but i just dont think these too guys mix:(

  • It´s different...but good though. Great melodies and easy to listen. No matter what he did before and sure will do after that little trip into another musical dimension; the most important thing is, that he likes what he does and give the people a different kinda view of his talent. Many will say, that this sucks and is just a total sellout; I don´t agree...I like it and rather like to listen to Chris-goes-pop-music, than listen to all those Btritney´s that are on the radio.

  • It's not too bad, but it's not too good either. I guess it's just that it sounds nothing like the stuff that I love like Black Hole Sun, etc. I saw him at the Electric Factory (with Audio Slave) in Philly, and it was one of the best shows I have ever been to, but I don't think I would pay to see him perform this type of thing.

  • so far the live versions sound much better than the recorded versions, you checked them out yet?

  • this is fucking bullshit cornell needs to get back into a real band

  • no. this is brilliant. You don't realise that it's possible to have decent music within the spheres of what are regarded as popular genres. This is better than the work of bands like muse who pretend to come up with something new when they only copy others and re-hash old ideas.

Chris has never sat still with his solo work and this is a progression way beyond the level of his peers. Mark my words: you'll all realise he was ahead of his time. Give it 5-7 years and you'll see.

  • i hate to agree but this album isnt the chris we all love. timbalands shit is throwing chris into the music that i listen to rock to get away from...sigh

  • i always wanted to meet chris but after this album..... no ps timbaland sucks balls for destroying my hero

  • woah woah woah. wth?

Why did Timbaland take a crap on Chris Cornell?

Where's the grunge? the power? his voice?

Now he just blends in with every other hip-hop and pop band...

    Where's Soundgarden?

  • Sold out Chris, let's hope the black hole sun washes this away as well

  • I think the songs amazing, its just very catchy, like "Watch Out"

  • The melodies in this song are so good. It's a shame there's all this techno bullshit in the background. Lose the synth, Chris!!! (and Timbaland, too)

  • you heard the live versions? definately better!

  • Yeah, they are better live. I'm an album guy myself though and I was just disappointed to see Cornell go in this direction is all. Oh well, this won't be the last album he makes.

  • Guitars and Drums Are Now Boring. WE ARE IN THE 21th CENTURY. wake up!

  • wow...

wake up and forget the roots of music as we know it... go back to bed.. your DREAMING!

  • lol ya I was just laughing at that guy's comment too. I dig the new stuff from Chris but guitars and drums are where it's at and where it will stay for quite some time!

  • I definitely know that the roots of music ISN'T ROCK, so maybe you're the one who needs to go to bed.

  • It's also not in drum machines. I love Chris Cornell and I like some RnB, but if Cornell wanted to make an RnB album he should have went with a better producer. Why is mainstream America all the way up Timbaland's ass with all of his identical sounding beats?

  • Yeah I agree Timbaland is not that freakin great.

  • Great point!, may be timbo or whatever seriously needs to give it a rest.

  • Timbaland is one of the greatest producer/composer's ever. Period.

  • That's your opinion, but definitely NOT a fact.

  • damn, i HATE this new stuff...its just the same bullshyt they call music these days

  • i just got one question for all these new songs.. WHERE'S THE GUITAR? this sounds like gino music.

  • What a fuck is this? I love Soundgarden, Audioslave and like all of Chris Cornells work, but this is disepointing.

  • Its good great mixx

  • how the titans fall!

  • This is an awesome song!!! Keep hating but I really don't care. I'll buy the album when it comes out!

  • Audioslave Rules!

  • Que no es Justin Timberlake? Oh, no, es Chris Cornell!... horrible cancion. Que vendra despues? un duo con Madonna? con Nelly Furtado??? Una verdadera mierda... Cornell, nos abandonaste... Now, You Sucks! Temple of the dog Rules! Soundgarden Rules! Old Cornell Rules! New Cornell Sucks!
  • Love Soundgarden Too , this is just another facet of Chris's musical skill. Timbo cant sing, he couldn't have collab'd with a more soulful singer.

  • weird...

I loved soundgarden, and i do not love this. but that doesn't make it bad music. and its not like chris is doing this for money or fame, he is doing this cause it is what he wants to do. So i guess as long as he is making music and being happy, you can't hate the man. Looking back at all he has done, he deserves respect no matter what he chooses to do. I don't care if he becomes a country singer, as long as he doesn't do it to sell out.

  • you guys dont know shit about RnB music. this song is fresh as hell. and yes i am a huge soundgarden fan. but this song is genius. brilliant mix of rap n roll. go chris and go timbo-

    ahahahahahahahahaha so funny

  • lopes, you are to young to understand. You see, when you are a teenager and the Seattle music scene defines your teenage angst in the mid 90s, you will not accept the above video.

As a 14-year old, everything Soundgarden did (pre-Superknown) was groundbreaking and I enjoyed it because was an essential part in defining who I was as a person.

The above is just Chris trying to be part of pop culture. It is a shame. What is next? Eddie Vedder dancing with Britney and you'll praise it.

  • But you're not a teenager anymore and it isn't 1995 anymore either. I'm a different person than I was back then, and I suspect the same is true for you. Why can't the same be true for Chris Cornell?

  • It's not a crime to change if it is for better I dont like his new sounds, but is just my insignificant opinion. Although I respect others opinion and Chris Cornel, but, sincerely, I dont know what he took from the process of doing this album, or so ever what he is trying to achieve

  • how insignificant do you think you are?

  • Its nothing with importance or a lack of self confidence. Of course we can write ours opinions and share with other people that are doing the same, but we wont change anything In the same way that he chose to do this kind of album, he is the only one that can choose not to do them anymore. We can (and we should) express ours opinions on the new sound, but its an internal modification that Cornell will have to do, regardless of how we think.

  • I said my insignificant opinion because I express my opinion on Cornell's new album based on what music my ears like to hear, on the lyrics that my conscience is requesting and how it affect me, and that don't mean anything (for the universe). But why did you ask that?

  • Chris what happened to your good taste? This is low, even for a "reinventing career try"

  • Love the song.. Timbalands beat and the lyrics go so well.. keep up the good work.. peace

  • you guys dont know shit about RnB music. this song is fresh as hell. and yes i am a huge soundgarden fan. but this song is genius. brilliant mix of rap n roll. go chris and go timbo-

  • OMG where is chris cornell???

too much pop sound for me

    wheres the band?

  • Stop hating!

Chris Cornell is great and it's cool that he's trying new things and we should commend him for that.

  • This is superb music, guys.

  • chris needs a band behind him...

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Cornell this week and he is an amazing person. A gentleman and I give him mad respect.

  • :( Were is the Chris Cornell of AudioSlave or Soundgarden????

  • This is obviously Chris's wife's idea.

  • I think this comment is written on all of the new Cornell songs

  • ummmmmmmm, i dunno i can dig it , its just him doing his own shit

  • this is half assed it gets addicting its not garden or slave but it is chris

  • He got the songs for free? Not sure where you're going with that one Mr. Einstein.

  • oh godddddddddddddddd so gay!!!!

    wtf happened????

  • I like both of these artist although i lean more towards cornell because the music he's done with garden and slave has never ending life. I can see this just being listenable for the moment. Other than tim's work with nelly furtado and aaliyah i really don't think i'd go back to listen to much of any of it nowadays or in the future.

  • Chris Cornell always puts out some weird RnB stuff when he goes solo. Give him some time and he will be rocking out.

  • Just a note to pass on. On Chris Cornells Blog he wrote that this new album was meant to be listened back to back in its entirity. He wanted to capture how older albums of the past were were a listening expereince and not marketed as a bunch of singles put together

  • Alternative lyrics...

    Bitches..

I used to rock but have outgrown..

now its, raaainning, hip hop is in so suck my dung,

Ive benn prayyyyingg, I turned to black and have a big dong, but I am fakingggggg, cause Thimberland said he would let me go,,,

cause Im like diamonds and hes like coal, and when mixed togeter they will surely clash, sometimes confessions are hard for me, but I want to make more cash instantlyyyyyy. I say long gone soundgarden.. and audioslave was a joke to me.. I say long

  • lol, you're wrecking on the song but at least you're funny while doing it!

  • I disagree but I found your lyrics funny.

  • I respect Chris trying to sing with artists of different genres. I was skeptical at first but this Timbaland stuff grows on me. It will sell better than his other solo albums in my opinion.

Because of how this "public mind" responds/works.

  • Than i thought i was te only one who thought like that.

  • I'll withhold strong opinions of his new foray until I hear the album in its entirety.

  • good call

  • no one writes lyrics like chris cornell. even this genre of music sounds great with his lyrics.

  • Well this is still beautiful and honest. I'd rather listen to this than that Audioslave crap. Superunknown however... Will never be touched.. A masterpiece of depth and lasting beauty. Thats the difference between a group of minds compromising and creating art vs one mans direction. Still beautiful though. Let him do his thing.

  • Great Song, do u have the download??

  • just like billy corgan said, "ROCK AND ROLL IS DEAD."

except phil anselmo, "That in tarnation?!?!"

  • Thanks Timbaland. As if Rock didn't have enough nails in it's coffin without you poaching one of it's Best Singers and turning him into "Justin Timberlake throws a Sulk."

These are dark days for Rock n' Roll.

  • " If you just want more of the same simply hit loop on your Soundgarden or Audioslave CD's, otherwise let the man grow and change as a musician."

    X 10.

As for sell out comments. You wish you could. If you want rock, go buy the last album. Oh, right - you didn't because it sucked.

  • I think why people are yelling "Sell out" is not because Chris tried a different direction. I think people are yelling "Sell out" because this song is so syrupy . . . so pretty, in kind of a overproduced, glossy way. That raw, honest quality that Chris has seems to be missing here . . . and it makes sense that his fans are bothered by that because that quality is hard to find. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. One more thing: Fuck Ryan Seacrest!

  • Why do people hate this so much?

    I think it's pretty good

  • How is someone a sellout because they want to try something different with music? You can't be a sellout in music. Nobody has to stick with one Genre of music. thats not what music is about... so quit with the sellout BULL

  • i agree with u hannibalsloat

FUCK U meanstreak listen to this guy he's right. If u like this then u are a monkeyfucker

  • Holy shit I didn't know your momma was a monkey!? I better cut it off with her then.

  • FUCK ANYBODY WHO THINKS THIS IS GOOD. HONESTLY GO SUCK A COCK.

My respect for Chris Cornell has gone about as far down as when Metallica did St. Anger. Of course they redeemed themselves with Death Magnetic. The only thing that could redeem Chris now would me a Soundgarden reunion.

  • You're a Metallica fan? Why did you even click on this video then? You should know all of Chris' solo stuff is much softer than anything he has done with his various bands.

  • Fuck you ya fucking Jism drinking, coal mining cock loving auto boy. You're typical fucking English. Instead of writing a reply to this you should go back to munching your mothers anus, Or the queens haha, Because I won't be here to read it. SEEYA

  • I'm from Texas you illiterate moron. Munching my mothers anus? Wow, I haven't heard something as cool as that since the 5th grade. Oh, and sorry I took your attention away from the blowjob you were giving your dad.

  • I bet Chris Cornell was kidnapped by aliens and his memory was deleted! I can't believe with my ears how bad is this.

  • Listen buddy I didn't attack you! I insulted Chris Cornell because quite frankly I'm a big fan of his earlier work and listening to this makes me feel sick. What does growing up have to do with anything? Many critics will bash this, as I did. We're all entitled to an opinion. So Fuck you too

  • Sorry but you called him a fag who works with cocksmokers, not the most intelligent thing I'd ever heard. And who gives a shit about what any stupid ass music critic says? All I'm telling you to do is stop living in the past! If you don't like it then get back to searching google images for animal porn you brain dead incest baby.

  • Well said Meanstreak. Laughed out loud at the braindead incest baby call. HAHA!! Actual gold

  • lol thanks man feel free to use it on someone who you thinks deserves it!

  • He's a fucking fag these days. I don't think Layne or Kurt would have worked with cocksmokers like timbaland and released gay shit like this if they were still around. Fuck him

  • Dude Layne and Kurt are dead and the 90s died with them. Now grow up like the rest of us and chill the hell out! If you don't like it just hit repeat on Badmotorfinger you moron.

  • he's ugly hee hee

  • You're crazy. I'd ride that train any day.

  • i'm sick of all u pussy posers bitching about the new stuff being "overproduced", or a "sell out", etc. who gives a fuck? cornell has already established himself as one of the greatest rock vocalists of our generation, so why not let him try some other styles before he retires? i guarantee you he gets twice as many new faces on his upcoming tour that he wouldn't get if he just kept putting out the same old stuff... and what's so bad about that?

  • i never thought he would indulge in such faggotry
