While it seems obvious they should use guns they had him surronded and to close. If they were to shoot there would be a high chance of shooting themselves all at once or if they shot one at a time there is still a good chance they would shoot themselves should they miss. if they didn't surround him then they could shoot him but they are henchmen and quite stupid.
