@PerfectChloe They are a perfect duo, so sad that Jamie's not on anymore, but new actor Paul Nicholls is a worthy successor as well. It's not the same Matt/Ronnie father-son-bestfriend bond, but it's a good one as well.
@MrsNanaa16 Yeah i really miss him too, he was an amazing prosecutor and the problem is that the relationship between him and Alysha is kinda lost with Dominic Rowan but his great as a prosecutor too
@MrBlueWinds I think this show has done a great job of transitioning actors, we lost Ben Daniels, Bill Paterson, and now Jamie Bamber, but the new actors coming in, Dominic Rowan, Peter Davison, and Paul Nicholls, all make the new characters their own unique person and not some copy-cat replacement, and it makes the show grow stronger. It's sad to see characters go, especially Jamie's Matt Devlin, but the new guys are holding up their weight and doing great jobs. :)
@MinionBooBoo Oh god I didn't know that we lost Bamber too but hey that's the nature of L&O and sometimes this changes bring more things to the series. I really have to go back and see all the new episodes!
@MrBlueWinds Yeah, Matt was gunned down in a drive by shooting at the end of Series 5 finale after he pushed a 12 year old kid out of the line of fire, and we open with Series 6 premiere dealing with the aftermath of Matt's death and catching his killer. It was such a powerful and sad story, especially watching Ronnie having to go through dealing with the fact that Matt is dead and he's lost someone who's like a son to him. But like the new guy Sam Casey is a great character and worthy successor
@MrBlueWinds I'm gonna miss Ronnie and Matt's father-son bond, it was one of a kind and the absence of Matt's presence is definitely felt in the long run, but new character Sam is a strong character in his own right and his relationship with Ronnie is different, I see them as more equal-standing partners and friends, it's not a bond that replaces Matty (as Ronnie calls him) in Ronnie's heart, but it's a new and different relationship and it's a great one to see.
@MrBlueWinds I have clips from the Series 5 finale and the Series 6 premiere that covers Matt's death storyline, they're uploaded on my account if you want to see it. It's heartbreaking really. I can't watch them without crying.
@MrBlueWinds Yeah, Matt was my favorite character, he was why I watched the show, and his bond with Ronnie is so amazing, and having to watch that ripped away, seeing Ronnie blaming himself for not being there in time, admitting that Matt was like a son, and then everyone else saying how Matt was a good cop, and there was even a short scene of Natalie (the boss lady of the detectives) breaking down in tears over everything, it's just so sad.
@MrBlueWinds And the story itself is tragic too because you felt for Matt's killer who was just a kid who saw injustice done by the police who did nothing to find his brother's killer and shot at the cops just for revenge, you understood why he did it, even though Matt who did nothing wrong ended up paying the price for that. It was just sad and heart-breaking on both sides.

As much as I miss Ben Daniels as James Steel, I thought Dominic Rowan was just as good
