My dad Mark Charron died tragically and wrote this beautiful song. He was a very good man as well as a great dad. Please you tube my name Amy Charron if you are curious the of hell my mom put me through. She also abused my dad for yrs......
Yeah so they just like decided halfway through the song that David could sing... Haha oh well I'm glad they eventually used his real voice, It's so good :)
@cassidy322 and @morrisonfanone Actually, the reason that David only has one line in the song is because this is where they experiment David's vocal ablitiles. But I do agree with you. I wish David had sung the whole song.
Shirley jones stated in an interview later she did no vocals on the albums (except for "whale song"). The label was going to release a solo shirley jones LP, but felt her real vocal didn't have a pop sound. She has a broadway voice. THA'T'S WHY THE ALBUMS SAID "STARRING SHIRLEY JONES FEATURING DAVID CASSIDY"
A lot of fans misunderstood that the Partridge Family records were done entirely by professional studio musicians and songwriters, with the exception of David's and Shirley's vocals. The songwriters and musicians they used were some of the best in the business at the time, and David and Shirley didn't fake anything in the studio. They lip synched as they acted, but their real voices were used in the recordings. None of the other cast members had anything to do with any of the recordings.
pretty silly, why didn't they just re-record the whole lead with David? This is from a show later on in the first season, and he had already started singing on the 2nd show. So these must have been recorded out of order.
The middle part where it is actually David's voice, isn't that the "chance" the execs gave him to prove he could sing? I read it blew them away to realize they chose David for his looks and found out he actually had talent.
Most of this song was recorded without David Cassidy. He sings the bridge solo at the middle but the rest of the song was done with session singers and Shirley Jones.
Very aptly put. No discredit to the Bahler brothers who initially sang lead on these songs - they obviously had beautiful harmonizing voices - but yeah, "yawn".
I remember afternoon reruns of this show from when I was a kid. My sister had their first album and this was always my favorite cut. Wistful and nostalgic, it describes how I feel sometimes.
This song and Only a Moment Ago were my absolute favorites of his!!! I even sang Only A Moment Ago in a variety show when I was in Junior High! Too funny! Thanks sooo much for bringing back wonderful memories; there's nothing like 60's and 70's music and tv!

My favorite part in the song is 1:09- 1:22. Why? It's actually David

@cassidy322 I know right. Why not have David sing all of it, they now knew he could do it.

@cassidy322 I agree, without David singing they could play this in elevators.

Yes. They later recorded David in the bridge of the song only. The rest of the song is a studio vocalist.
