I dont think that Camaro (unless upgraded) even had the advantage of an overdrive and still it walked away from the patrol unit, wich im guessing was a 1990 or even older box caprice wich were only rated at around a 175HP for a two ton car.
Handling wise the cop was keeping up but the guy driving the camaro knew what he was doin cuz all he hit was straight roads for the most part and that was his advantage. Cop didnt stand a chance...
my friend is in waco explorers, he said that the chargers perform like shit and they only chse certain people....like if someone hauls ass past them they would rather wait for you to turn around than chase

Engine, but they also came standard with the 3.73 Rear Gear Ratio which is 31 more than the 3.42! SORRY FORD GUYS, BUT I PERSONALLY THINK THAT US BOWTIE BOYS HAVE ALWAYS HAD YA' BEAT! HOWEVER MOPAR FANS CURRENTLY HAVE THE MOST POWERFUL FOUR DOOR CRUISER AVAILABLE TO POLICE AGENCIES!
Just in case anyone doesn't know! The 9C1 Caprices came with a 3.42 Rear Gear Ratio, whereas the Crown Vickies only came with a 3.23 Rear Gear Ratio. Also, the LT1 350's in the 9C1 cruisers were rated at 265 B.H.P which was the same as what the general public got. The 94 and up Crown Vickies came standard with the 281 SOHC Motor with just a piddly 255 BHP which was ten less than the Caprice's 350! And if you add in way less torque than the 350 you can guess which CRSR is better for pursuits!

Just a mild small block chevy. Nothing special really. 60 over 350, flat top pistons, cam shaft, heads with minor work, and normal bolt ons you will find on a performance built engine.
He is a lucky man. I am just glad they both made it out safe. Here in NY, a Trooper was killed while chasing a guy on a crotch rocket. They charged the guy on the bike with manslaughter.
They couldn't prove it was him driving but they knew. They confronted him about it the next day and he agreed to pay a fine and do community service in exchange for the tape. :)

I'm not suprised, both the 9C1 Caprices with the LT1 in them, and the Crown Victoria's are about 16 second 1/4 trap times in the mid 80mph range.
Standard 4 door cruisers aren't that fast. The New Charger is about 2 seconds faster than either of the aforementioned.
