I use Worldcraft. If you look at the source code (included with the mod), you'll see that the platform are actually entities. Not the simplest way to do it, but it made sense to me then :P

it reminds me of you know that minigame in sonic the hedgehog i think number 2 where you collect the blue balls and they turn red and if you touch them (Red Balls) you lose

Quake1 being still on sale online, it's not abandonware. I'm sure there might be very good deals on Ebay for a cheap version, though.
Making Transloquake standalone wouldn't be particularly hard, but I wasn't really planning on it, since this is essentially just a mini-mod. I might look into making a Nexuiz version, though.
