this album as a whole just has more darker lyrical themes. although Revelation is definitely a more positive and uplifting song though, which is a nice way to close. that being said, it doesn't really matter to me all that much what the band believes in. they're not a Christian metal band, and when they do sing about religion, i think they just try to take both sides of the spectrum, like atheism in Real World and heaven in Afterlife. either way, Gamma Ray forever kicks ass!
I find it funny when people call someone satanist just because there's Satan writen in their works or He is Cited sometimes of couse it would be the case if Kai wrote good things about him, but this never happened. If saying something of the kind was something only Satanists do then priests and preachers would be the worst of their kind.
@ Edtehed. Hansen’s lyrics are controversial about this point, if you see how different were the lyrics he wrote in Helloween, or in the first Gamma… Moreover we can’t judge a person or a band for a single song (erasing all the others); I can say there’s a real weird stuff aroud this “matter”… (Heaven Can Wait, Heaven Or Hell, Hell Is Thy Home, Armageddon, Revelation…and so on)
Of course Mr. Hansen & Co. must have a spiritual crisis!! :)
@Edtehead listen to Revelation, Fight, send me a sign, Gardens of the sinner, abyss of the void,... they often use christian elements in their songs. why not? that doesnt mean that they want us to become christians. and yes, they also have atheistic songs. of course majesty is NOT a satanistic song, this song is AGAINST satan: Run to the exit again, if you can. .... Still I dream of a tomorrow When the world is free again In the end the tyrant´s falling Love wins again!
@Fitzcarraldo5 I think this song is neither for nor against satan. to be honest, I can't even tell whether these guys believe that there is truely a thing called satan. Kai's lyrics are often dramatic and very powerfull, as one would expect in this genre. I think that when it comes down to reality, these guys are just serious musicians playing great music, and they hardly have any agenda other than that.
would you asume Tolkien believed the stuff of his books truely existed too? same goes here
yeah youre absolutely right. but its really stupid that people always say gamma ray are atheists, because of songs like real world, because on the other hand, as i said, there are so many "religious" songs.
when they write a song, they have to find lyrics that fit: obviously they used the word "satan" just as a metaphor.
i dont know if any of them is religious, and i dont really care. if some of them are, thats ok, if some of them are not, thats also ok.
About this song being Satanic, I'm pretty sure that it's not... This whole album is filled with anti-religious lyrics of the really pissed-off kind. To me, this one seems to be about how religious beliefs and rituals are useless: "What happened to our screams and curses, what happened to our lines and verses?". Still, "hell comes crawling". It's no use turning your back against it, because you're gonna have to live through it anyway. That's what I think Kai meant with these lyrics.
And about him rather going to hell then heaven is because of his lifestyle, and view of freedom. Atleast that is what I believe, but again, I didn't want to offend the fans of Gamma Ray. I guess next time I'll just say: "nice gitarwork".
So you dont like Kai Hansens voice then? If youre going to compare every vocalist to Freddy Mercury, you will find yourself deprived of good music due to your own narrow-mindedness. Open your mind a bit more. Kai Hansen has a good voice, and can still boast some good range. Oh, and not everything needs to be written by a Harvard scholar! LOL
A "good voice" is a matter of personal preference. For me, a good range is important and I agree that range alone is not enough. I hear a lot more than "screaming" from Kai Hansen. How does one decide the difference between singing and screaming? LOL Are you suggesting he is just throwing lyrics out there with no desired achievement of actual notes or melodies? If thats what youre saying, I totally disagree. Ultimately if you dont like his vocal tone or style, I can respect that.
I kinda see this band as picking up the heritage of the older Iron Maiden (not saying that Iron Maiden is dead, just that they're doing some different stuff nowadays). I think theres a sound to this music going back to Maidens music, although GR cannot in any way be said to rip of. Actually I find this a very great compliment to a band as I see Maiden as the best band ever.
Finding this band was a very refreshing experience.
Get that weight of your balls and mind, Queen will always be the best! This is just some freak song about gays who worship Satan...and no, I'm not some extreme, all-believing catholic/protestant fucker...
Well, in my book Queen is dreadfully boring music, but of course you're entitled to think otherwise.
But please tell me, why do you have this need to try provoking me/Gamma Ray fans? I'd love a serious answer, it's not often I get a glimpse of what's going on inside the minds of subhuman filth such as yourself.
And if you don't want to be seen as a christian, then stop acting like one and accept that other people think differently.

Ok, I admit I could've said it more friendly. But I wasn't trying to provoke, I just find this so terrible. The lyrics are moronic, the vocals can't even be called vocals and ok, the gitarriffs aren't bad but that doesn't make it good music. Perfect example of intelligent lyrics are Rammstein, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Queen, etc.
Well, corny lyrics are an essential part of old school metal, but I think that they're more intelligible than one might think, if you manage to look past the kinda "swords and satan"-theme.
And I find the vocals very clean and well sung. Once you get into proper metal, this is almost pretty, especially if you develop a liking for more extreme stuff, like myself.
You're completely entitled to your view,of course, but bear in mind that this is music that takes time and an open mind to love.
Wow. Why are you even watching this video if you don't like the metal genre? Anyway, Mercury said he'd rather go to hell then heaven, so kind of an ironic message here. And while Queen is okay, I don't see how they could be the best band ever, seeing as how if you take Mercury away, they are nothing.
Also, listen to Flash Gordon by Queen, by far the cheesiest song of ALL TIME.

I don't know how I got here, I stray. And I like some metal, but not quite this. I don't really agree with you, about the others being worthless. Brian May is an excellent gitarist and Roger Taylor is an excellent drummer, but you must understand that it's kinda of a blow losing your lead singer( not to mention it's Mercury). And yes, maybe Flash Gordon is a cheesy song, but it was afterall a soundtrack for a cheesy movie.

Like I kind of said before, when I wrote that I really disliked the song a lot. The lyrics say:"When all falls down when Satan`s calling Blood will flow when Hell is crawling Majesty... oh Majesty Majesty... dark Majesty" Which does show 'respect' and maybe 'worship' for Satan. On the other hand, it also says:"Still I dream of a tommorow When the world is free again In the end the tyrant`s falling Love wins again!" I take back what I've said, simply because I don't care.
no matter what we say there a hell and a heaven he is singing spirituality evryone got is dark side huh were all the same

I listen to classic, rock, metal, hiphop, cultural music, techno, basicly I can listen to all genres, aslong as it's any good.
I don't think range has anything to do with a good voice, you can scream miles away and still suck.
