also i have a freind that is letting me use his 2 VX8DRs while on deployement and one of his does it on A and the other on B.
so we are past the manuals explanation..of oh its a design of the radio uhm no its a sidefect of tight fitting parts with tolerances etc. and just passed on as a design. Companies do skimp where they think they can.
Side note i might be selling mine on ebay as i will have 2 for 24 months.
Yes i know that they have different sensitivities but when i have multiple units doing the same thing some on A some on B some being Perfect..
that says to me maby its not so much a defect rather its a component Tolerance Issue IE you can get a part on one end or another of the Electrical characteristics tolerance set forth by yause Think of it like Color Bin for LED, or like celeron vs P3 some are better parts of a complete system and there effects are amplified throwout the device.
I understnad this radio is complex and is loaded but once you figure it out its really simple and like riding a bike (i have just pulled it out after about a month on the shelf and most settings came right back to me.. (mind you i didnt have it all memrorised when i put it up)
that is what the MFR said "its complex your doing something wrong, learn the rig before saying something is wrong." Sadly for them i did, do, and on the other radio TT declared it defective (knowing i posted a video of it
this comment i brought from the other video about the other defective radio
You wouldn't need to do that. His point is that the sensitivity it not the same on both receivers which is a problem. 3 DB can be the difference between understanding someone or not in a weak signal situation... If the answer is, just use the other VFO, then why even have a dual VFO radio?
I know some people who have issues with Yaesu. I know a guy who has sent in an ft-60 5 times and had the same issue each time. I told him they just need to send him a new radio.
Just got my 8DR in the mail today. The AM broadcast receiver doesn't work. I'm thinking about exchanging it for an icom or kenwood...

Read your manual. The two VFOs have different sensitivities. This is how it's supposed to work.

It could be the VFO that's interfering with the other VFO. It's even mentioned in the manual.
