  • This is the only cover of this i've found that has real feeling to it, you play beautifully

  • man dat was da bomb :)

  • Awesome

  • just curious, how do you learn to play something do you practise it alot playing it really slowly? and accurate then pick up speed, or do you try to get it up to speed and tempo to make it sound like the song, thanks in advance man

  • @zomb3kill3r I always start playing it very slowly, as you said. As the beginning, it is more important to get the sound and the notes right, than to play it at the original speed. As your ability improves, you'll notice that you naturally improve the speed of your playing.

  • 2 years of playing don't tell me much... it's the hours that count! i have played for 6-7 years, but i only pick up my guitar once in a while. But if you start playing your guitar today, and practice 7 hours daily, you would easily get better than me in less then a year! I play this song as well, but not as good as you!!! Well done my friend!

  • this took me two weeks but i still dont fully get the high part of the song so i kinda wing it.

  • I can play this song too just it is a waaay easier version but reeeaaal hard..... Omg I should learn the hard version!!!!

  • Muy buen trabajo.

  • Respect!

  • too bad my friend..need more practice..

  • you are amazing man!!!

  • well played!

  • Woaaa you are really talented nice work! I am working on getting this song under my fingers, its really hard though. Mad respect

  • Theres no reason to lost the tempo my friend. You play good but you can play better.

  • learned it in a night, no guitar experience (@ age 15 to impress someone lol) Good job!

  • :O

  • BRAVO !!!

  • This is one of my favorite songs. I've been playing guitar for about 6 years and I'm pissed cuz I haven't learnt this song.

  • 2-years of guitar...and then two months to nail this, I'd say outstanding. Thanks for posting, you're very good now...continue and you'll be amazing!!!

  • im learning this one too great song and good lick to everyone :)

  • was this hard for you to learn?

  • @MitchMxx It wasn't easy for me, at the time. I was playing for 2.5 years. Depending on your guitar skills, it can be more or less difficult to learn.

  • 57 peeps died in the making of this video

  • very nice cover must have taken some time to perfect it like that

  • Well played mate! Only one critisism tho. Grow some nails. It will sound sooo much cleaner.

  • Ahh, this is nice. I usually half-ass songs :/

I mean, except things like Green Day.

    Pretty hard to half-ass that.

  • Very passionate cover. Nice job!

  • AMAZING. you have inspired me to learn this song. :D intense man, you did awesome.

  • up to 0:50 this is a better cover than your second one.

  • That'spretty good, better than mine anyway. I'm so fed up with trying to nail this piece, I still can't find the proper tabs and everyone else seems to play different and better chords than the version I found. Well done anyway!

  • not bad..........

  • I got a Guitar just like that rom a garage sale for 20$ and it sounds awsome for a POS

  • next step! Andy McKee

  • hey do you know which version is the original?

    eric clapton or mason williams?

    which one are you playing?

  • @ragnarok1992 Mason Williams... The Eric Clapton version is also Mason Williams. Eric Clapton never actually recorded "Classical Gas".

  • very nice

  • Hard to learn Dude... thanks 4 playing.

  • aqui si tocan bien la cancion

  • very good kick ass!!

  • nice 1 bud

  • NICELY PLAYED

  • Very good!

  • Very nice. I'm currently working on it myself, and find it's more difficult than I originally thought. How long did it take you to learn it to play it like this?

  • @HailCostanza I took about two months to learn it, after having 2 years of guitar.

  • @arturobc i have 1 year and ive learned about half of it in one day. but ive been sitting here since like 6 in the morning. and its now 9 30pm. no life huh? well its the only way i learn. by forcing myself to sit and practice. how often did you practice? im sure it didnt take you two months to learn it. maybe two months to get it down good? but like a week or two to actually learn it no?

  • @HailCostanza really depends how much time you put into it. I learned in 2 days at 14 playing for 2 years

  • @rocker3264

Wow, I did the EXACT same thing......14 years old, played guitar for 2 years, used 2 days to lear it...

  • @ulriksj actually i learned it at 4 years old, in 2 minutes after playing guitar for 2 days :P

  • @tangypasta

Yeah, that sounds probable. You spent 2 minutes learning it, and the song's about that lenght or more...so you had played the guitar for 2 days, were 4 years old, and you could magicly know all these chords just by listening to the song. You just

  • @tangypasta

--Sound retarded saying things like that. If you heard this from your parents, it's bullshit.

  • @ulriksj lol im jking of course.

  • @tangypasta Seems legit

  • @rocker3264 I hate you.

    :P

  • dude you rock, this is perfect

  • Good version!! really nice.. your guitar sounds good :)

  • really great

  • that's just sweet music

  • fuck, i cant play that, JAJA hay cant speak English LOL

  • great!!

  • i like your version, good work bro

  • KILLIN IT

  • @ johnross47

You play well technically, but I don't like your version of this song and your lofty attitude stinks. Help people improve, don't put them down.

  • good job

  • bad ass just the guitar could sond better

  • very good, i want learn that song too <3

  • great great job man my hat goes off to you

  • DUDE... :P XD

  • wow your fricken amazing,

    .

how long have you been playing for?

  • You've got too much talent to have a such a slack position.

your thumb is too high it's affecting your hammer on with index finger

there's other things tto but hells bells you can play

  • his thumb being that high isnt effecting shit in his index finger it would only mainly effect his ring and pinky it wont do anything to index

  • Pretty clean, but the groove is a bit off. Try relaxing and playing it with a bit of flair :)

  • soooo good

  • youre very good :)

i can play it too on my guitar but i think youre better than me :D

  • you play it very well:D and the guitar is awesome :D is it a hora brand ?:D

  • Thanks for the comment. It's a very cheap guitar, actually. Its brand is Sonora. I supose that it may apear as it have good sound, but that's only the camera recording effect.

  • it doesnt matter if its cheap you make it sound good :D

  • @arturobc sometimes a cheap guitar can be very good guitar, I have a cheap washburn acoustic and it is awesome! :)

  • this is amazing!

  • bloody good show chap. i am just learning the guitar and hope to play this song one day

  • @goakucan You will. Trust me. :)

  • @goakucan u will!

    just go on :)

  • @goakucan twat...

  • Flawless my friend....simply brilliant!!!

  • You have no idea what flawless means do ya? Or you just want him to not improve with your unsuited compliment?

  • Perhaps you're right, I don't know what flawless is. But, I know this much..., he plays much better than I,... and I suspect better than you.

Generally as a rule the only time I post a comment, is to compliment some one's effort. If I was interested in seeing the original (flawless), I would've watched Mason Williams version, but I enjoy watching cover versions (warts and all). If you don't mind, I'll continue to encourage (not discourage) artists....God Bless!

  • You miss my point, I believe my version is slightly better than his, and I see places for improvement, If you say flawless that means he nailed this song already, but he hasnt and neither have i so let's be apreciative of peoples effort while staying realistic and non-illusive. Theres no God, so I have no blessing.

  • nots the true song :=)

  • check out my video of classical gas... soo much better than this one.. no offence it just is :/ own version of classical gas.. look it up either on search bar or through my profile thanks :)

  • im on practising this song but i bet you i will never be a s godo as you at it , haha

  • Can some one please tell me what notes are being played on those 4 bar chords transition? at around 1 min.

  • Thanks man it's great!!!

  • wow, I wish I was this "bad" at playing such an amazing classic. Great job man!

  • one day

  • sweet :)

  • Great job ,sounds excelent

  • Fantastic!

  • very nice

  • not bad, try playing it slower so you hit all those notes, then speed it up once you perfected it. Keep practising, but good job so far.

  • u nailed it

the intro needs work thats all

most people cant play it that well

  • its a hard song to play

    u played it pretty good

    good try keep practicin

  • mason williams was miming to Curtis Loewe

  • I THINK IT SOUNDS EXCELENT! mason has fake nails and Tommy E. has his finger picks this guy has his thumbs and it sounds just as good. if not better, this is soul not some over played crap they charge 20 bucks to hear some guy make an idiot of himself on stage.

  • Sounds like dull strings... newer and harder (higher tension) strings would help bring out clarity in that guitar. Could be the guitar is just mellow too!

  • i dont know if you seriously cant tell the difference between cat gut or nylon and steel or if your trying to be funny, no offense, but uh idk learn some more i guess...

  • Well done, its fantastic, Classical Gas was the inspiration that drove me to learn how to play and yet I've still not learnt it completely (still on intro, lol) but you've done this really well, thank you for sharing

  • It is quite difficult to play Mason's William's Classical Gas, it tooks a lot of practice to lern this song, I will not share opinion with people who says that You are good and talented, sorry but You must to practice more, the way You play is not CLEAR, You lack timing and there was acopule of misses, but good luck practice, and practice maybe Your next performance will be better :) I hope so:) good luck

  • How about you just enjoy the song instead of picking it apart?

  • @seventeeone Because we're assholes. Now move out of the way while we pick the shit out of this apart bro.

  • @seventeeone Ha.. i get it.... pick.

  • you're trying to pick apart this guys siiick cover of classical gas, when he played it amazingly. As you said, it isn't an easy song, and who gives a damn if it isn't as perfect as mason williams original. Before you start giving unnecessary critiques you should probably learn some English grammar.

Great job arturobc, i enjoyed it.

  • You're sorry? Damned right you are. When you post your perfect rendition you can criticize others. Until then, just shut the hell up

  • He DID post this video on a public website, therefore it is subject to criticism. In Kensan's case it was constructive criticism, which is good. If everyone told this guy he was the best of the best already then he might not work as hard to better himself. For the record, it does lack some feel and timing. It was good however and i do applaud him for his work so far.

  • Excellent job. You are a very talented guitarist. Nadine

  • everyone has a opinion.

    awesome playing dude, great song

  • Very skilful, but you lack some feeling and timing. Great job overall!

  • Great work man!!!

  • are you playing with a jose ramirez guitar?

  • if you are playing exclusively classical music, then get a nylon string guitar. otherwise, get a steel string-- they are more versatile.

  • or get one of each? :P

  • ha yeah that's even better

  • yup, u can NEVER have too many guitars ;) lol

  • woww great job

  • I rarely comment on video's but i love music, and this was incredible, this is perfection keep posting

  • great job

  • really nicely done, dunno if i am at the level to play this but i am giving it a shot. love this song!

  • I want to learn this... Im usualy a metal head.. But this kind of stuff is a nice change... But ive never tried finger picking...Ill see how i go =D

  • it works alot better with nails and classical strings

  • @NoobDestroyer666 Gl, noob. Now you're playing real guitar :)

  • @NoobDestroyer666 Learn something easier, like 'Benighted', by Opeth. This shit is mighty tough.

  • @NoobDestroyer666 if you never tried fingerpicking try a more easy song haha:P

  • wooh perfect played, youre good!

  • To whoever is deciding about whether to buy a classical nylon acoustic or a steel string acoustic, It does not matter because if you play much sooner or later you will have both. And if you get really good you will proabably have a bunch of different guitars for different sounds, from Dobros to electrics. holers.

  • Great im learning this

only watched three covers but yours is best

  • its was slow and and you lost the rythm at some parts

  • wow that was amazing! i am so jealous i sooo want to learn that song.

  • Great video! Sounds excactly like the actual song. I'm trying to learn this song right now and i can get up to 0:48. Could you please give me the tabs for 0:48 to 0:55? Or better yet, give me site where you got the tab : P.

  • I used the tabs from the site ultimate-guitar(dot)com. Search for classical gas. Then choose the tabs with the best rating (5 stars). I didn't use those tabs when i was learning this song because the weren't there yet. But they are very good and accurate and will certainly help you.

  • nice work 5 stars!

  • god damn youtube, my below comment was in reply to utahjai's last comment, why the hell did it not go UNDER his comment like the rest of the replies...anyone?!?!

  • FAKE!

  • whats FAKE?

  • From 0:50-1:10 looks kinda fake.

  • no fake for sure, he is good!

Just wondering, for beginners on finger picking style, how long will take to play this song?

I am a beginner, I figure will take me 6 months.

  • check out mike herberts lessons here on youtube, ive been learning it using his lessons for bout a month now nd i can play bout half of it fairly well...tough mother of a song to learn tho!!!!

  • I'm learning this song and I'm a beginner myself and it took me 5 days just to learn 30% of it, consider 1 hour a day! =)

It's not that hard, you'll get used to it

  • his mums boobs LOL

  • FAKE is your ass. Can't you see that is real, you fucking moron??? do not talk what you don't know, fool.

  • What your languages!!! I already said it looked fake!!! Not that it's really fake...why do you cares so much?!

  • Ok, I'm sorry for those words, but I really got pissed off when you said it was fake once it ain't. Sorry for it.

    See ya.

  • eh...It's all right...Now, enjoyed the SONG!

  • That is smooth picking. I am learning this piece now. Which part is the most challenging do you think?

  • Hi. I think it's the part starting from 2:08

  • Thanks, are you referring to the video footage timing? which is almost at the end and was a repeat from the beginning?

I am still struggling at around 0:58.

  • Yes, I'm referring to that video footage part. Go really easy on this song. Slow but good is better than fast but bad. Then you work on your speed. With some practice, I'm sure you'll get the part around 0:58 right

  • Thanks for your advice, the biggest hurdle for me is the bass picking part of it. I am doing it really slowly now.

  • i wouldn't say hes nailing it. he is "playing" it, but some practice with a simple metronome would be a big help. it just sounds so force the whole time. go with the flow and rhythm brotha

  • As it is.

  • nice watch

  • Awesome mate - tough song and your nailing it

  • super wow me encanta esta cancion ya casi me la aprendo con la guitarra bien guay

  • i wish i had the money to get a classical guitar.

  • LOL

  • you heartless bastard...

  • Your most basic guitars can start around $99, but the great beginner guitars come around $250, which could last you easily 5-10 years.

Dont get a steel string, nylon is the best to play it on :).

  • Disagree!!!!! Nylon is easier on the fingers, but steel, once your get your finger tips nice and hard...oh the sound is incomparible. I played this song on the same guitar with steel and nylon and nylon sounds like a muffled sound...blah! STEEL ARE BETTER!!!! the resonace is better...I took physics and asked my teacher about this...I won't go into it, but steel resonates much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have to disagree as well aha, by all means, steel is great, but it doesn't compare to playing Classical Gas on nylon. If you think I'm being biased, I'm not :P, I played it on steel last night and it just doesn't sound right!

  • as a person with a steelstring guitar in his heart. i must say it all depends on taste. its like debating apples and oranges. some songs just sound awesone on nylon and some on steel

  • I usually play everything on my steel string but I actually prefer the sound of this coming from my crappy cheap nylon stringed guitar that cost about £30... I think it suits it better. Just my opinion though.

  • Actually they both a great for the types of music they are intended to play...so you and your teacher need to study a little more guitar and a little less physics if you wanna talk about guitar. If you play this on a steel string ur only embarrassing yourself the strings would over resonate and make is sound like shit! Classical Guits don't over-resonate intentionally so you can hear the plucky individual notes. If you follow ur logic, an electric is the best...it can resonate longest (dumb)

  • Smooth version dude

  • Style or what do not ever give up luv annmac

  • me encanta esta cancion

  • awesome!!! simply AWESOME

  • aew o cara toca muito!

  • ur a fuckin hectik man,

i'm now tryin to learn of u now lmao:D

    if i can :D
