Grand National vs Z06

i love GNs, they're one of my favorite cars, but judging by a lot of these comments it sounds like a lot of you guys might think this was a stock GN. which is definitely not the case. you can make any car fast, or in this case i should say faster, as long as you're willing to spend the money.

To bad they don't make buicks like that any more. Oh I got an idea. Let's make a 4 cylinder front wheel drive regal that makes 240 hp at best. If a Kia optima can get 274 hp with there's. I don't get why Buick can't make any better and faster cars.

@SavageSS2010 I agree.I got my ass kicked by one on the highway.We raced several times & I jumped everytime & he still beat me.I had him take me for a ride & it drove sooo smooth but would burn rubber & go sideways at 50 mph.

@94vettelover2 I feel your pain Bro. I learned the hard way about Grand Nationals too. The year was 2006 . I was in a built Chevelle. I have never been waxed in a road race so bad in my entire life. He spanked me by about 25 car lengths before he tapped the brakes. I just turned off at the nearest side street. Ughh.. I cant bare to think about it anymore..lol!

well for one, that definitely wasnt stock boost, 2, notice the GN is an auto, so it doesnt lose boost between gears, and the vet was a stick.

It makes me laugh that people think that the GN is stock. Don t get me wrong, I think they are Awesome!! Stock to stock, the Z06 would ve easily beat the GN. There are GNs running 9 second 1/4 miles that sound as quiet as this one did. True sleeper indeed!

If anyone is to compare a GN to anything it should be another car from the late 80s wich their werent any really to compare because they were KING of the streets in 1987, and still to this day they are feared everywhere,regardless of their new car specs, chances are your gonna get smoked.

true the gn was on the old 3.8 the same turbo on a serie2 3800 would make a big difference  whit the short deck better head roller rockers and cam

It could also be because they axed the whole G-body platform. In 88 regals became FWD bland ass cars.

We're talking 20+ years technology difference..and in todays world GN's are still feared.

The other night here in Dallas at Kellers(a local hangout) a guy in a Red Camaro with the STS turbo kit wouldn't run it..his exact words being.. "I know what those things are, no thanks." haha...But yes the new ZO6's are the ZR1 is almost impossible to mess with running 10's right off the show room floor..but TR's hold their own very nicely. :)

you do realize your talking about a 22 to 23 year technology gap. So looking at that factor alone would be like comparing a dogs docibleness to that of a mountain lion.Also the new zo6 vette is in the neighborhood of $70,000. All in all the Grand National back in the late 80's was 1 bad automobile and a force to reckon with.
