I was looking for a new laptop and after considering purchasing laptops made by Dell,HP, Apple,Sony and more I came across this laptop.I had never used an Asus laptop before but I decided to buy it mainly because of its internal capablities(i7 prossesor,640 GB HDD e.t.c) at such a low price. I really like the aluminum lid and the laptops aesthetic design.Even after 4 hours of usage it manages to keep cool,the speaker sounds great and the display looks nice , overall I'd say I'm satisfied

@mrdiaz0108 no, the fastest procesor you can get with the e series is an i5, and the graphics card is also inferior to the one in this Asus. But for the price......

@alanibanez But im not talking about E series, i said S series. You can get i7 with an S. Either way i think the vaio looks better n weighs less. And the webcam is amazing

@mrdiaz0108 I misread your comment. Yes the S series does look nice. The charger is much smaller and as you said it does weight less. The only bad thing is that they do not have a number keypad. I do not know about sound quality.

@mrdiaz0108 it seems as if everything I write is wrong. I went to frys yesterday to look at this Asus and it doesnt look as good as in this video. I decided to buy a Fujitsu instead. I didnt have enough money for an S series.

@mrdiaz0108 I also bought Sony VAIO S Series 15.5" one with core i5. It is less powerful than this and weight is lighter than this Asus N53SV. S Series Screen Lid is very soft and needs extra care!

@minthu Hey, does the laptop ever get really hot, loud or noisey? I plan on doing casual gaming on it, watching bluray movies, a lot of browsing and streaming youtube videos, word documents, bringing it to school, and editing videos with the machine. Basically I would be using it for everything and I'm just hoping it:

A) has enough battery life for me to bring it to school and type word documents

B) run cool and quiet while gaming and editing videos

@KeKeKeilan Not very hot but a little bit hot on the surface when CPU is running intensively in HD video editing. It is pretty quietly running. Tasks you want to do will not make it that hot. :)

A) 3 hours with standard 6-cell supplied battery, you can buy extra 8-cell battery.

B) Sure you can absolutely do that. I have answered above. :)

Hey all, Im searching for my first laptop and have narrowed it down to an Asus. I've been looking at the N53SV and the N53SN. The first thing I noticed is that they both have multiple models out on the market. As a new laptop buyer, Im having a hard time distinguishing between the models and picking one to buy. For example, for the N53SV, I have seen a A1, A2, XV1, XE1, etc. Can someone help me out here? What SV models is best and is the SN better than the SV in terms of overall goodness? Thanks

@areahikaru Yes, it is 1366x768. There is another higher model at 1920x1080 but I don't like it in 15.6 inches. Just too small pixels 1920x1080 @ 15.6" and not good.
