  • Check out my cave of the winds video and rate it

  • that was stupid

  • God exists, and this is heaven *_*

  • COMO GOSTAR DE UM VIDEO QUE NADA MOSTRA.

  • Great wind symphony performance. Thank you and thank YouTube too. ขอบคุณครับ (Thank you words in Thai).

  • Such a sloppy recording.

  • I'm playing this right now as a freshman in high school. Oh and were marching to it. So far its been a pain in the ass to memorize the random flats.

  • What for a shit video

  • We are playing this for part one of our marching band show this year :)

  • You can tie me up and throw me off Niagara Falls, but I just don't think this was nearly comparable to Metropolis, UFO, or Alligator Alley (That one is super fun!)

  • @Bandgeekof2011 Nowhere near as good as Metropolis, but still a great piece.

  • weak sauce. maybe it was the recording, but this performance seemed so stale and unenergetic. It's DAUGHERTY, it's aggressive as hell, you should be melting faces off. This was way too safe.

  • @somedrumz it seemed wayyyyyyy too overly balanced.... all raw-ness is gone. if i want this song, i'll listen to the cavaliers

  • I loved the slapstick in that

  • Our HS is playing this for a competition in Disney World this year. I get to play that wonderful flute part double tonguing the 16th notes : ) But it's a really amazing piece.

  • Ugh I just saw my highschool wind ensemble play this last night at our OMEA convention where my Intermediate Highschool Wind Ensemble made it and I just absolutely LOVED this piece. My good friend played the bass clarinet solo at the beginning and it was amazing :)

  • this song just goes to epic mode at 8:00

  • And the final theme sounds suspiciously like Gilles' 5 1/2 symphony... I've lost all respect for Daugherty

  • The beginning sounded suspiciously similar to Gershwin's Piano concerto.... Just sayin...

  • this was our closer for our marching program and half of our show. i loved it so much

  • Not enough bass trombone! :D

  • my highschool played this in our marching program last year, like the cavaliers did back in 2000! it was AMAZING.

  • I love this song!!... We might be playing it this year... I sooo hope we do because it is totally amazing!!

  • Love the trombone part in the beginning(:

  • My highschool is gonna be playing this song this year. im playing the lead trumpet part.

  • eh, i need a little help understanding this.

you see, i grew up in niagara falls, and i'm having trouble seeing how this song relates to niagara falls itself. anyone (especially those who might've been in the composers orchestra and heard his spiels, if any) want to help me?

  • @TheNortherner29

Most people think it's about the waterfall. It's about the city itself and all the tourist attractions. Places like a wax museum, haunted house, motels and gift shops. I like to think that it all culminates at the end with soaring over the falls.

  • that picture looks so... like....unbelievably beautiful

  • I just came

  • I heard this piece on the radio. So amazing :)

  • I played the trumpet part to this as a sophomore in HS. It earned us a spot in the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic(2000). Absolutely wicked tempo but one of the most fun pieces to play. The last 20 seconds where the trumpets get to blast the upper register is great. Those high C's are chop busters by the end.

Our HS probably played it better than most colleges could.

  • @taman25thc02 I can tell you're a trumpet player....

    btw, i am too.

  • @carlhess haha same here and a trumpet player

  • @taman25thc02 -Our college (SCSU) performed this piece my freshman year. For you guys to have performed it in High School amazes me. Just being in the rehearsal room and hearing it in person gives the listener a picture of the amazing talent Daugherty possesses.

  • I'm playing timpani for this piece, I love it!

  • my band is performing this, but we lost some of the sheet music... is there any way you could help us out? we're missing percussion 1,4, and 5.

  • Epic. That is all.

  • This piece has nothing to do with the water fall at all. Its all about the wax museums of murderers and notorious villians in history.

  • i think they got a 2 year old on xylophone lol

  • Today I saw the Western Ontario University perform this live for us. It's great cos we live in Niagara Falls. :)

    Also they were outstanding.

  • hahaha i was there too! small world eh?

  • lol, ya.

    wat school were u with?

    i was with myer.

  • ummm crossley, i was sitting in the very fron

  • kool my cousins go to that school.. maybe u know them, andrea, bryan and stephen.

anywayz do u happen to know the song they played before playing this one? i need to know for a concert review.

  • i might know them if i knew the last name, and sorry i dont know the song. maybe Bach or somthing?

  • Hey, I was just reading your comments about UWO performing for your school... I was principle oboist for that tour! The piece we played before Niagara Falls was called Doppelpolitik by one of our own Masters students named Jason Noble. Hope that helps you. :) Glad you like our performance!

  • ty :)

  • Hey! I was playing in that band! Haha I play Euphonium! That was the best we ever played it, at your school. It was SUCH a fun piece to play, so glad you enjoyed it!

  • for my senior year, my high school wind ensemble almost did this song for state competition. we sight-read the parts for a few weeks then my director randomly decided to cut it and pick something else. instead we did asphalt cocktail which is sick and really hard but not as insane as this song....and we won state so it may have been a good idea to switch lol

  • ouch, percussion is a little rough

  • my philharmonic is trying to play route 66 right now, key word trying

  • Holy Jesus!... Is this a level 6? it's gotta be!

  • Gotta love the trombone in this piece!

  • my whole marching show is based on this for this years season! :D

  • @Penguinfreakusuk im jealous! :D

  • meh. too much saxophone. not bad, just my taste.

  • Here's my story about this work. A couple of years ago my daughter was a horn in the high school band (they were really good, and award-winning). They played this piece, and the audience was blown away. To add to it, the composer (Michael Daugherty) lives here, and is daughter was in the band too. Very special.
