@dervishmadwhirler i really like that you think this way! I feel the same. I think that far too many people hold god in view as an angry being, and that this causes very much unnecessary pain and guilt. What i have hated about most mainstream Christian churches is there insistent focus of sin and constantly feeling as though you are a horrible person. My religion teaches that god has unlimited love and mercy for every one of his creations, not just the perfect ones.

@benjorgensen1 I appreciate a broader view of god, but i'd like to throw my opinion in as well. Since God existed before all else and everything that exists comes from him. This naturally means he was before language, before feelings of mercy and love and gender as we have come to know them. Sin by definition means mistake or mishap. That is why you are not a horrible person but rather "a person." That is why i think its wrong to "humanize" god. When god is essentially the nature of all things

But even within context of the christian system god IS everything and certainly is beyond gender. I'd submit that very wise politician types took god out of everythng and put "him" above us. This changes the way we think of reality in a way that separates things. what do you think?
