  • You know, for a skinny white boy, Chris Robinson sings with an ass-ton of soul. ;D

  • Evidence suggests... drugs are good.

  • i once heard them do a version of ramble on with jimmy page and now i connot find it , does anyone know of it or where it can be found?

  • @619ladyred live at the greek

  • fuckin a

  • the guitarist on the right playing the firebird with the slide looks like mark walberg

  • Comment removed

  • Check out the band Wicker House very wide range of tunes!

  • Rock n roll

  • Fuck me, how good?

  • this is too good. its weird. im horny.

  • Ohhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhh

  • love the black crowes so much saw them play with oasis best concert or maybe the time with tom petty actually everytime was the besttime what am i saying lmao

  • They were on Letterman a lot...But they deserve all the credit.

  • btw, usually a bad sign when marc ford was sportin' the shades.

  • saw these guys a bunch back then, skipped a little high school in the process :).

  • WHATA FREAKIN JAM!!!!!

  • these M- fuckers have soul GOD!!!!"

  • The reason the word 'cool' was invented......awesome

  • Rich Robinson looks like Eddie Vedder!

  • I was hooked and landed after the summer of 1990 when I picked up my first cassette of the crowes...was a big fan through the decade and then came LIONS and a few years back my wife bought me the double cd live from the filmore for Christmas. Good life...Great wife.

  • 3:10 I love how Chris just casually tosses the harmonica off to the side.

  • I love there is a pot leaf in place of the stars on chris' shirt :) Love the black crowes!

  • i remember when i caught this on tv.

  • Reminds me of Belushi.. rip.

  • Hell yeah I was looking for this. This is what they played in Atlanta for the encore in Atlanta.

  • i have it on disc...i burned it...also have a song called Bitter Bitter You...rare on same disk

  • @dalyryg I know what you mean man. I watch this -- quite possibly the greatest musical performance in late night TV history -- all the time.

The thing about this performance is, this band could've played something off of Amorica in order to promote that album at the time. But no, they come out on national TV and just absolutely rip this cover to pieces.

Marc Ford's tone at 2:18 is absolutely earth-shattering. Freak 'n' roll.

  • @trav4freedom I think they were having issues with the new material ("Amorica" came out of the whole "Tall" project that didn't pan out), which is why I'm assuming they chose to do a cover.

  • what gutair is Rich using

  • @trav4freedom

They're of the deep, deep roots from the original tree of southern rock n roll. As genuine as it gets.

  • this shows the difference between performing high and sober haha

  • playing this on current tour

  • they are playing this on the current tour

  • totally wearing bell bottoms hahaha

The 90's were fucking great :)

  • They closed their encore with this when I saw them last November in L.A. Incredible show, seems like they just keep gettin better with age.

  • AMAZING VOCALS!

  • Those were the days. I'll be seeing my 30th show in a couple of week.

  • Comment removed

  • F Yeah!

  • The Crowes are doing this song occasionally on their current tour ... just saw them last week, and they blew the roof off the place. I'm the biggest Marc Ford fan on the planet, still follow him with the Neptune Blues Club ... and Luther Dickinson is flat-out amazing, and is tailor-made for the Crowes. Incredible. F*cking. Band. See them on this tour if you can, you won't see any better.

  • Marc Ford is playing lead guitar on this video. He's the one with glasses.

  • this is music!!!!!!!!

  • Sorry, but Marc Ford is nowhere on this video

  • Marc's tone at 1:19 is just vicious. This is the coolest band ever.

  • Thanks for sharing the video. I've had that version on a CD years, but I never saw the video until now. Joe Cocker does a killer version of this one, but I personally like the Crowes groove a tad better. I think this version of it is about the best take on it yet. Rock on!

  • My favorite by far of their live shit. I agree....where can I find this on CD?

  • @ReneeLucy

While it's not "officially" on cd anywhere, look around look around and you will find it!

  • @ReneeLucy if your into pirating you can find it on limewire.........

  • Definately this is horrible.... Thanks God for traffic was created that amazing song, but the best version belongs to GrandFunk Railroad.... I am sure about it!!!! listen to this version and compare..... this video is a big shit.

  • For a white boy, he SURELY can sing the blues! Really awesome video! Thanks!

  • Anybody know if this is available on a cd anywhere??? If it's not, it sure as hell should be!!!!

  • Feeling all right..Marc Ford is playing the slide..oh yeah!

  • @wisesatyr72 oh no! rich is playing the slide, in fact.

  • haha nice song! and i love that shirt too xD

  • rock and roll,what else?pure,straight,authentic...

  • butter

  • this dude has soul!!!

  • perfect look for a rocker.

  • his voice sounds like Rod Stewart's one

  • maybe one day we'll get it together...

  • thx for the sharing!! I love when famous group do covers, i love to think that it's because they really love music.

  • These dudes lost a great chance ,to be imagewise next to The Stones,

After their great first album ,they became bored scruffy looking hippies.

  • @PAULLONDEN That was the problem with their first album, too Stonesy. "Southern Harmony" and "Amorica" are what the Black Crowes are.

  • @ovneb

    That's a funny comment.."problem...;]

Oh whell...if Southern rock is your thing, they fill that niche nicely.

I think ,their sound here was becoming one big cacaphony,no separation at all.

I've heard this kinda stuff done a thousend times better.

    Clapton, Skynyrd ,Allman Bros.Stones Exile.

  • @PAULLONDEN All those bands you mentioned sound completely different from eachother. And the only one that really resembles southern rock is Skynyrd.

I've always seens them as more of a "Humble Pie"-esque band mixed with Stones.

Image-wise next to Stones? Don't really know what you mean. But everything they did on the first album was done before. It's a good album though.

Just let the music speak for itself.

  • @PAULLONDEN First of all genius the word is Cacophony... And if you can't hear the separation of sounds, you need a better stereo, however more likely the case is you need a better ear. This is the Black F'n Crowes. The sounds they were throwing down was just to powerful for you to handle my brotha... That is just that... You either get it or you don't... And evidently you do not!

  • @PAULLONDEN

    Cacophony,more like then...just to please.Jamler3

  • just amazing.....

  • Wow Letterman looks YOUNG!

  • MAN that Chris has got alotta soul!!!!!

  • Very nice version of the Dave Mason classic :) Crowes ROCK!

  • FORD!!

  • Monster Groove.

  • Dave is definitely a Crowes fan, almost as much as he is a Warren Zevon fan.

  • Check out a great interview with legendary Black Crowes guitarist Marc Ford at VirtualWoodshed[dot]com!

  • It's Chris Trujillo on congas.

  • Dang what a song. I bet I have listened to this 100 times. Kicks as- !!!!!

  • Anyone know who The Black Crowes's percussion was?

  • Listen to that voice!

  • I think Letterman is really a Crowes fan. He isn't a smart ass with/about them like he is with many others. Plus, they've been on the show alot!

  • @gdawgrn97 i was thinkin the same thing..

  • lol look at lennermen!

  • @shotgun42...

I would like to know also. A comment from a different thread stated that he couldn't get off the horse... too bad.

He has a blog that I checked out a few times last year, and he's very active w/ his music still

  • anyone know the real reason why Eddie's not with them anymore?

  • So hot. This makes me want to do Chris Robinsn

  • So do I :)

  • I probably watch this about twice a day

  • nice!

  • me too.

  • Me too!

  • same

  • @dalyryg Me too :) If I could have .0001% of the talent of Chris, I'd be an all-round better person.

  • If you're gonna pirate? Pirate from the Best!

  • just saw the crowes two hours ago, and they closed with this tune. Excellent show.

  • Fillmore?

  • Nokia theatre in LA. Truth and Salvage Co opened, and were great as well.

  • chris robinson has the most beautifull eyes!@L@

  • it doesn't get much better than this!

  • good stuff

  • Marc F. Ford is my personal Jesus!

  • Love the way he sing. Lots of souls...

    Like it!

  • great cover of dave mason's classic. this is nice!!!

  • I stopped a Black Crowes concert with my dancing. Chris Robinson stopped the band in the middle of Jealous Again and told security to let me dance. "Let her dance" is a phrase I will never forget. This band is amazing. Good soul music.

  • god the black crowes are fuckin awesome they deserve more recognition they have the potential to bring back rock n roll to what it should be!!!!

  • Coolest band ever...

  • great band

  • the beginning song to letterman, sounded like the chorus to hard to handle? lol

  • they are great!!!!

  • very cool

  • 1:04 = Rock and Roll!

  • Black Crowes are Awesome!!!

  • such a sexy ass performance

  • Everytime I watch this I feel the need to get baked. An outstanding moment in rock n roll performance history.

  • Check the Letterman hair!

  • Marc Fuckin Ford!

  • @reissue fuckin a right!

  • @reissue MFMF

    (mother fucking marc ford)

  • @reissue Amen brotha

  • i like the original, don't get me wrong...but damn...chris makes this song killer...he just...has such virtuosity with his voice....he makes this great song even better...i love this version....

  • Ah, the typical brainless Youtube lowlife type of comment. You're the Youtube version of white trash but that would be giving white trash a bad name. LOL.

  • haha lmfao

  • lol nice

  • I can smell a slice of the great Humble Pie here

Chris indeed took some lessons from Marriott and musically they are not far from The Pie too.

  • Bravo! Love that shtuff...

  • THIS was by far the best line up for them ! Those are my boys forever! Peace!

  • this is killer

  • That brother can vent !!!

  • Check out chris' shirt. LMAO!!!!! They are the best!!!!!

  • From rock n' roll to royalty, easy like that. Chris Hudon hehe.

Steven Tyker understands. HAVE THE CALLING OR QUIT, THIS GOES FOR ALL DOCTORS!! Anyway, for the cause, a megapost from....he's Corkscrewey y'all.

Fells good dun it? Hehe, yeah ; )

  • This band back then blows away what they do now. Even their lineup a few years ago blows away what they have there now. A shame.

  • This is a great lineup....But their current one isn't bad at all. Luther is no Marc Ford, but he's damn good.

  • Right on Chris, sweet music to my ears.

  • Dave Mason did write the song.

  • i dont think ive ever seen a band just jump right into a better groove than they do right as chris finishes the intro.... unbelievable

  • As I have said many times before--finest live act available--then and now

    You are dead on bw

  • damn good

  • I've never heard this before, but Chris absolutely jams this muthuh! Freaking GREAT!

  • cover? look, its chris robinson dude! the only other nose in the world that mighty is vince mcmahon and that sure as hell aint vince mcmahon!

  • it's a Trafic song man, this is a cover

  • it's a Joe Cocker song

  • I believe Dave Mason wrote this one

  • Traffic

  • They lost something when Marc left the band. He is a wonderful player.

  • this ia a cover grand funk rail road did it and so did joe cocker. black crowes hands down did the best of it though:-)

  • I agree about Ford. VERY underrated.

  • man i would love to have this mp3 or have this song tabbed out so if anyone knows anything let me know, awesome band and great cover

  • Mark Ford just might be the most under rated guitar player of all time.

  • Man, I keep coming back to this vid for a pick-me-up ... this is honestly my favorite cover I've ever heard.

  • agreed man...this is my favorite video...video period, not even crowes video, just my favorite video of all time...ive watched it hundreds of times, its the crowes at their absolute pinnacle...even tho this was in '94, seeing this video makes me believe that REAL rock n roll is still alive and thats its not just a dying breed....long live rocknrollsoul

  • Ed was fired for not getting off the H.

  • Wounded Bird is not about Marc. Bad song anyway.

  • yeah i was looking for joe's version of this because the crowes opened with it on saturday and i've got it on my mind. seems like a nice guy and all but i just don't think he fits with the crowes. luther that is. sorry just my ho. the band still rocks though.

  • Best Band Ever!!!!!!

  • If you have not seen them live then i suggest you treat yourself to a fantastic show.

I do not know how many times I have seen them but I go every time I get the chance.

Best Rock band in 30 years!

    thanks for posting this video

  • Crowes fans miss Marc Ford.

  • I miss marc and ed both, the song wounded bird sums up how the crowes feel about marc now. can anyone tell me what happened with ed?

  • chris robinson has to be considered one of, if not the best rock n roll singers since the likes of plant, and daltry. nobody else vents this good, for 18 years.

  • I've had this version on a Crowes bootleg for years, but I never saw the video until now. Excellent! I like the Traffic and Joe Cocker versions of the song as well, but I've always thought this particular version by the Crowes was the best version of them all. Black Crowes ROCK! Thanks.

  • true oldtime ROCK & ROLL the crowes know how to jam, just get up there no gimmick just JAM!!! GREAT BAND!!!!

  • rock n roll at its best. love the crowes, doesnt matter if im stoned as fuck or just chillin, they rock.

    peace

  • chris rocks. he's cool. Kate should just stay with him...

  • Amazing cover!

  • hahaha Chris is a diva

  • Whell....she got so tired

    tousling her hair up....

    thought....let it just hang./

  • what are you talking about chris robinson is a guy, whats with the 'her' stuff?

  • Yeah, Tyman ,it was just a slight dig

    at the "Diva"comment,from Slimduce.

    Although.... Chris looks a mess

    these last years./

  • ya i saw him live hes got a huge beard hes just a hippie, he was high as shit when he came out to play as was the crowd including myself, it was a good concert and the lights were trippy as hell

  • man, Letterman must f***ing LOVE the Black Crowes. i think they've been on over 10 times.

  • Can you blame him? ;-) They're throwback, noone else is carrying the torch for this kind of straight-forward rock 'n roll anymore ...

  • true
