  • Holy Crap. This represented my favorite time of The most magnificent band, Family. The lyrics are staggeringly good.

  • Haunting and beautiful song, never gets old, only gets better. One of the best bands to come out of England. They were so innovative and fresh that today they sound as current as ever. What a pleasure to discover these recordings.

  • What a band! I saw these in January 1970 along with Chicken Shack and Nice at Leeds Poly - 3 amazing bands. And the cost? - 21/- (one pound one shilling), or one pound 5p in today's dosh. And what a night!

Saw Roger Chapman years later in the 90s at Leicester Poly. What a brilliant performer he remains.

  • @afradwright Shit, you shaw Chicken Shack! (Nice, OK.) Tell me about it!

  • man i love this band! the more they rocked out the better. wasn't a huge fan of the 1st album but afta that...holy god. to look at em pure spinal tap, look at the double necks! chappo' vox elec goat but man it got power. their style/sound totally ripped off by zep,traffic,ac/dc, king crimson, free, bad co, and chicago(!) just one those bands that influenced others but never caught on:prog or hard rock. even they didn't know.

  • Saw them as Streetwalkers in London 1975. Only a few people in the theatre. I clapped enthusiastically. Chappo spotted med and called out:: "Thank you, punk!" Sweet memory...

  • Lovely to see this line up after all these years; the best in my opinion. "Fearless", as others here say, is one of the great underrated rock records of the seventies. No question.

    wordofgord

  • chi merda de video

  • hey thats jhohn wetton playing a bass/guitar, he is a truly awesome musician

  • "Fearless", great Album!

  • One of the most underrated records of the 1970s: FEARLESS by Family (1971). Jaw-dropping beauty and frightening intensity back to back. Wish there was a vid for "Blind," possibly the heaviest song ever written.

  • Wonderful! Be great to have better quality vid, but, well, damn, this is good!

  • Only Burning Bridges tops this from the great timeless album Fearless.

  • Great song, great band, excellent versatile vocals.

  • Up the blues!

  • no other band will ever be as good as this band. Family were and will always be the best.

  • Who's playing the bass when they do the harmony guitar parts?

  • John Wetton

  • Uh yeah, but isn't he playing one of the harmony parts on 6 string?

  • Well, the playback does it.

  • Okay, that makes sense they're mimiing to a track. Pretty good job except for the harmony guitar bit and the bass keeps playing. Fooled me.

  • No wonder, pretorious, fooled me too ..., almost.

  • Just caught this...........great to see them again........great days !!!. Charlie's guitar is still so mellow after all these years!

    Cheers guys.

  • 2 double neck guitars.. ? Badass.

  • Thanks for sharing the song. I discovered John Wetton before I knew his history when I was a kid who just bought the Asia album. And to me, it seems like the further back you go, the better it gets. Roxy Music, UK, King Crimson and now Family. This music is like pre-prog rock. It's intelligent, daring yet still sustains a strong melody line. So good. Does anyone think the guitar melody in this song is reminiscent of a track on King Crimson's Red album?

  • Red? yeah! Fallen Angel. go figure.

  • This would be in my top three Family songs. I think this version turned up among the rather half-hearted extra tracks on the CD re-releases a couple of years ago. It sounds like Chappo is singing over the album backing track, which was the norm on the Whistle Test then (it LOOKS like the Whistle Test).

  • The film is poor, the music is sublime.

    Paulinepaulpaul.

  • England has been sleepin' for years for not complimenting this band.

Thanx for posting it. A fan.

  • They belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in America, exceptthey were never famous here. :-(

  • MITICI!!! GO GO GO PROG 'N ROLL!! from Italy

  • awesome clip. JW so serious 'till he cracks a smile @ 1:34, then it's back to business...

  • it's hard when you are supposed to be playing both guitar and bass at the same time :)

  • Killer song. I cannot believe you had this!

  • What a fantastic sound...Thank you for posting this video, i hoped that someone had a recording of this all time great. FAMILY your time may still come...Lifechanging for me when i first heard you on the radio, When i was thirteen, playing 'TheWeaver's Answer' Why cant i get a sound like that?! I thought it then, and i still wonder to this day...

'Look to the Sea, between Blue and me...and its you...

  • Thank you for posting this video! Family w/John Wetton rules!!

  • one of the most underrated bands ever.

saw them in 1973, absolut extraordinary.

Many thanks for this rare material.

  • Great clip, a classic, thanks for sharing!

  • this band was TOO good and too diverse to ever get big here in the USA-damn shame, they made some really fine music and progressed throughout their existence.

  • One of the best tunes ever! Thanks for posting this.

  • Not to mention Chappo hitting Bill Graham with a microphone stand! That didn't help their chances....

  • They STILL belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

  • chappo caught the mic stand in his usual way before it hit bill graham, but bill still decided to have a moan as they came offstage, so roger laid him out with a headbut! Their visas were revoked next day!
