  • hi i just got a new Linksys modem and In the DMZ page,

    it says

    "Source IP" & "Destination"

what should i put for these?

  • @itsDistortionnz Hi! do you have a modem and a router?

If so, change so your router goes to the modem, block the wireless of the router...

  • i have a netgear routerand when i dmz i cant host is it better to just leave it out of my dmz?

  • I cant get through the username and password, well at least it failed fast so i didnt have to do much work b4 it failed.

  • @TheShadow265 look on your router for a sticker with you user name and password

  • @Feaster7734 Well a while back I got this to work with just Admin as the password, but i never had to make a static ip all i had to do is find my ps3 ip, now i have a different router, modem, and computer, and my ip is kinda wierd its just 2 really low numbers and 2 zero's.

  • @LSM666 pick one or the other what ever works

  • Thanks, dude.

  • do i need to reinstall my router????

  • SUP SUP Is it advisede that i use a linksys rather than a netgear router? I have followed all kinds of advice for setting up MGO still i think its the type of router im useing lol. right now i have been useing a "netgear wrn2000". I have entered and followed every port forwording options to this point and have recived the same results.......O_o

  • WTF IS MGO -.-!

  • @RazorBlade754 google your routers password

  • BRO.. >.< HELPED SOOOO MUCH :)

    Thnx

  • My bad bro..I love ya now!! Thank you for showing me how to redo this..I was really fustrated that I couldn't host again..I had to do the Nat trick to my Xbox which resetted what I did for MGO.

  • Yo bro..is there a reason why I can't go on MGO at all by doing this? It doesn't even allow me to load up the game...

  • @kikook222 I don't have time to watch his other videos, but after setting a static IP if something else on your network(ex: computers) get the same IP, it'll cause a IP address conflict and won't allow you to use the internet on either one.

  • @NpaMattAlan this is some good info thanks heads up

  • @Feaster7734 and that’s why i tell you to make your ps3 ip 20 to 30 higher then anything u have on your router so you will never have that happen

  • thank you for your info. to be truthful your better help than the konami help service thanks to your responses and youtube videos. glad someone is out there for us ps3 and MGS fans

  • @Gilgamesh0Genji wow thanks bro always glade to help

  • sry to bother my original problem was getting on MGO because of some port problems. i could play every other game online except MGO, it only let me through twice then never. went through many hours talking to ISP. finally an hour ago they suggested bridging on my modem. It opened everything and all ports and lets me play MGO. My question is, is it bad to open alot of ports for the ps3?

  • @Gilgamesh0Genji i dont think so its like opening a lot of doors for info can come in and out from your ps3 to the internet freely

as far as i know hackers cant get into your ps3 by any hack

  • Do I really set open that many ports. from 1024 to 49151. will it let hackers in or cause problems

  • @Gilgamesh0Genji your opening ports for your ps3 u dont have to open all the ports open like 10

  • thx dude u r the man i could'nt host gams n i been ply n mgo for o most a year but thz

  • Will the dmz thing affect my connection settings and its security? Write back asap..thankss

  • @mumtaz13 there are no hacks for the ps3 that they can find your psn wallet so your safe and your computer is safe

  • also if i do this, can i host mw2 games cuz im havin trouble connecting to my friends who live really close

  • k thanks

  • if i reset the router, will i have to do anything else or will it auto set back up

  • @XXDeadMannXX just unplug the router for 5 to 10sec that will do it and every thing will be fine.then your router reboots the new setting will start

  • why cant i host with my netgear when its supposed to be set up automatically? ty

  • i just got a net gear and had to set mine up

ok type in your routers ip address

    user name is admin

    password is password

then go to WAN Setup to find the DMZ

  • thanks, i did that and ticked the box default dmz then entered my ps3 ip address but it still doesnt work, any ideas, ta

  • all i can think of is reset every thing computer ps3 router

sometimes it needs to reset to work

  • it asks password and username what i can do?

  • it different for each router find out what kind of router u have then google the password

  • u have to be wireless??

  • it will not matter

  • k I think i can now host but i it goews to telewell thing

  • Goes* And i can host now! <3 u xD

  • see it all works out with a lil work and help

  • what happens if i have a net gear?

  • ok type in your routers ip address

    user name is admin

    password is password

then go to WAN Setup to find the DMZ

  • it only says dms nothing about dmz :(

  • then use port forwarding

  • Comment removed

  • how to get to that web page i got always "Error!" what should i do?

  • find out your router ip address by looking at your ps3 ip address if it is 192.168.0.XX or 192.168.1.XX just look at the number hear XXX.XXX.hear.XX then just put a 1 at the end

so my router ip is 192.168.1.1

  • it still says i cant host games on my current enviroment what did i do wrong?

  • It worked i followed everything and it worked.... it hasnt work for me since i switched to wireless.

THX you're a genius, save me 95c a min with my providers technical support!

Great explaination and all, other sources just said do it and dont ask

  • i did this its Nat type 2 now but still cant host.......

  • did u try restarting your router

  • yea there was an option in my router configuration that said restart does this have something to do with my 2# DNS being 0.0.0.0?

  • no 1 dns is fine

restarting your router just puts your new setting in action just like reseting a computer

BUT U DONT NEED TO DO THIS ALL THE TIME

  • ok do i do it from the back little thing with a needle?

  • first try up plugging it for like 10sec and reset your ps3 bye turning it off and on

  • it didn't work i restarted it & restarted my ps3 too i opened the ports & have static IP whats going on

  • r u wireless ?

  • wired

  • hows your internet setup

  • well i went in my router & it says DHCP instead of static but it stays the same

  • well i mean do u have a modem then a router or a modem/router then a wireless router

  • First of all, thanks a lot for helping with my static IP setup. I don't have problems with lag on MGO any more and I can play in large games. However I still cannot host.

I input my PS3 IP on my router, enabled DMZ. I reset both PS3 and router. It's still NAT 3. Furthermore, after resetting I can no longer access settings on my router. The only option available now is to reboot so I'm unable to go in and try again.

  • nevermind I got back into my settings, but as I said it's still NAT 3

  • Thanks for the help. It works great! =D

  • Cool

    p.s- Who won the mac?

  • ok im trying to set up my NETGEAR router for this but when i try to get to it through the internet it asks me for a user name and password...what the hell is it talking about???

  • it is

    Username = admin

    Password = password

but i would try googleing it

  • so wait, i cant host because i have a netgear router??
