I really like the composing part. I can hear a lot of nice chords! If i may, I have some constructive criticism for you. I suggest you could use more natural swing on the piano parts: use it on the volume and placing. It sounds a bit programmed or robotic right now. The same goes for the snare rolls and timpani rolls. Finally, I suggest you could use a lot more reverb on the piano to keep it alive at the last chord.

@augmentedME best strings and brass instruments i've heard are in the VITA vst in magix music maker funnily enough,seriously.

i think the strings in my FL studio are actually wank  and i refuse to use them.

DSK do a decent free vst for strings.

@furey2310 hypersonic 1 & 2 and refx nexus both have AWESOME strings and horns, and if you can get some soundfonts there are hundreds of decent strings and horns

Do you use any particular VST's? Or just whatever you can find around FL Studio? I want to get into composing orchestral music, but Fl Studio has VST's that seem to have trance, hip hop, techno styles and others in mind more so than strings and brass.

@mbunds not all the rap beats people make with fl studio is crap, there are lots of deep and complex rap beats, and a lot of the beats you hear in the rap game have been created with fl studio, not counting soulja boy

@djsoulja08 I totally agree, and tools like this make it easy for talented people to create grooves that were unimaginable before, but they also make it easy for less talented "artists" to produce cookie-cutter tracks that don't advance the art much in a pleasing direction. You have to admit though, that some people don't realize their lack of talent and use these tools to create real noise!

A good learning experience. It was stiff, too thick in the orchestration, the piano and solo violin were the only things that gave the piece some transparency. If a section seems all forte or loud all the time there is something you might do to cresendo decresendo in layers to lighten your heavy orchestration.

what I did like about it was the choice of chords and the Irish Air folk song feel. Good job.

you are very wrong.. the purpose of this orchestration is to overwhelm the listener with emotion. If you could see past your obvious compulsion to criticise, you would realise that the best way to emphasize a dramatic/epic moment in a film is to back it with a solid piece of music with a thick texture like this. Plus, how can you possibly criticize orchestral music, it is composed from the heart and if this is what Zalaband wanted to create, then he has done a flawless job.

Sounds nice, but it really needs to be humanized or quantized, it sounds too perfect/computer-ish. Keep in mind that a real orchestra has subtle tempo changes and fluctuations, i.e., slight rhythmical imperfections. Quantization can give it a warmer, more genuine sound, especially in the more repetitive parts.
