dear scooby my legs are all ready huge legs not fat all muscle at my gym one of the instructors was telling me that if i do more running light weights training for my legs this might help me lose my leg muscle mass and might get more toned legs so if you can get back to me i will be so greatful and if anyone else can help plz ill always listen n take any advise
as far as i can see you are having your legs completly stretched. It´s proofen that when you´re bending your knees just a little tiny bit and stretch them while you´re going upwards you´re hitting your hamstrings much harder . This one here is working you´re lower back for the most part.
Scoob the best this about you is that you do not assume that whoever is gonna watch your videos will be extremely fit...ur exercises and suggestions are hence absolutely great for beginners like me..I have followed your workout routines and am seeing a lot of improvements.....
I used to weigh 133 kg, now I am 110 kg and my body weight is going down ...... thanks for the excellent videos and the tips...
when i do this workout i dont feel it working out my hamstrings at all, the only thing i feelit doing is stretching my calf's. does this mean im doing it wrong or is it just a workout you dont feel
hi scooby i have a question about leg muscles i am in high school and am on the track team for sprints. I need to make my legs stronger and started lifting weights for my legs but i heard if i lift weights then it will slow down my twitch muscle to cause me to run slow is there any lifts i can do to increase speed without hurting my twitch muscle?
Based on what I know (and I welcome Scooby's input), I'd say if you're training for bulk (Low reps, High Weight) you will over time reduce your overall speed. Maybe it's the twitch muscles, maybe it's just the added bulk.
If you're going for conditioning style, high reps/moderate weight, you'd improve your strength and endurance, without bulking up. This is the style of weight training that's favored by those in my dojo.
Have you considered resistance band training instead? Or hill sprints?
you can train your biceps, cause when you sprint you do an arm motion, that puls strength so you'd run faster, how stronger your arms how faster you'll run, it's not completly depended on your arms so don't expect you'll run twice as fast as before but it helps,, and i also recomand swimming, just 45/60 minute swimming in a normal breaststroke. do this 2/3 times a week and you'll feel the difference, that is an excelent hamsting workout too,
This IS a stiff-legged deadlift. You can look in any bodybuilding book and this is how they do them. Some say bend the knees slightly, some don't. I prefer not to. (hits the hamstrings better.) If you're going to bend them, it doesn't have to be much at all.
Good mornings have the bar on your shoulders, which is dangerous if you have to unload it quick. As far as bending the knees, try it both ways and see how you feel. If you read 10 different books, you'll get 10 different opinions.
This is simply a different movement than the stiff legged deadlifts I do. I do mine smoothly and with near perfect form (and a good deal of grunting) but they're still nothing like these.
Well like I said, 10 different books (or people), 10 different opinions! Still, stiff legged deadlifts are performed with the bar at the legs like this, NOT behind the head/on the back. (some people I have seen refer to this movement as a good morning, which is totally not correct.) Just do what works for you, as long as it doesn't injure you power to (all of us) stiff legged deadlifters! :p
Hey scooby, wouldn't a better hamstrings excercise be by bending the knees somehow? From my own experience of lifting isn't this excercise focusing on the gluteal muscles more and hamstrings are just for support?
Btw, can you show show to deadlift? There is only one video on youtube and I don't trust it.
Hey I wanted to leave a comment on your bi-cep video, but i couldn't. I have a question. How often do you workout bi-ceps? i feel i can do it 2-3 times per week, but i don't.
Hey Scooby, I've watched all of your videos and spent ages finding ones that allow comments just so I can so, MAN I LOVE YOUR GARDEN. Another reason why I admire you so much is because you cleary put so much time into making all this videos for absoloute free. Unlike all the cheap skate selfish people out there you do it just to help people. I would love a reply please it would really make my month :).
Hey scoob, I read every letter of every word of your website and I really need some advice. I see that for your advance bodybuilding program you say do 30 min of cardio a day, but on leg day what kind of cardio do you do thats easy on the legs? I usually do taebo or go running with my dogs but on leg day and for the few days after my legs are so shot I can't really break a sweat doing cardio because my legs hurt so bad. Advice please?
I tried this exercise with no weight because my legs are not very strechable yet and I cannot move down very far and I don't want to get injured. But I didn't really feel anything. Not which muscels the hamstrings actually are, nore how they get worked. Is it because I need to do some more streching first, so I can go all the way down, or what do you guys think?
I Know man. I'm just so mad on people who dissrespect Scooby. How can people be so arrogant! He uploads many of his own personal recorded videos for free here on youtube so people can get good and true knowlage about bodybuilding. But most of the people write crap and totaly stupid things because they have no braincells. I'm so annoyed about that. Hey Scooby! Great work man, you have really helped me out in the gym! Godbless!
I would have somebody watch your form VERY CLOSELY until you can do this PERFECTLY, go very light and TAKE YOUR TIME (if you are a novice) you don't want to risk injury. Take Care Fellas!
Wow Scoob, I just came across your vids tonight and they are very, very helpful! I may have missed it in my search, but do you have a calf exercise video yet? Thank you so much for sharing your intelligent workout info on here!! Fantastic physique BTW!
this is a good video but i also REALLY love ur environment u workout in. those tropical style plants and stuff must make you feel peaceful while u work out :D
Depends on your flexibility. I'm pretty flexible as I have been stretching hamstrings for a few years now. Only go as far down as you can with good form!
can i just use a dmbell instead of barbell?

They aren't big. You are carrying a lot of fat, lose the fat and your legs will shrink. They are definately not huge. Small would be pushing it.

If you think lifting weights will slow you down...go ahead and take a gander at ANY Olympic level sprinter and notice their builds.
nigerlover18 2 years ago
good point. olympic sprinters are impressively muscular. olympic endurance runners on the other hand, are skinnier.

I thought you had to "explode" (plyometrics type exercises) to work your fast-twitch muscles.

can you do this exercise with dumbells?

I'm guessing you could because it's still exerting the force down and onto your hamstrings.
PS this has nothing to do with the reply to comment but, I pressed pause then instead of play I accidently pressed the one star icon, I'm so sorry :(
