I believe this officer was in the right to use the siren. He didn't use it just for the heck of it, for one he had to run a stop sign, and another he had to get her attention.
I love how she says "I stopped" when clearly, as the dashcam shows, she ran the stop sign. And all cops use lights and sirens when pulling someone over, duh!
By and large there are no laws dictating when a siren must be used in combination with the emergency warning lights. Its the officer/FF/EMT's discretion. The problem is, you are responsible and liable so if you are a smart Ofc./FF/EMT, you use both when entering intersections, driving through neighborhoods when children might be out or rolling through stop signs.
This Ofc. does it right and he's quick witted too lol
@crazycoonz15 That's not true. Many states "by and large" have regulations stating an emergency vehicle is NOT an emergency vehicle until the lights AND siren are activated...not just the lights.
Thats awesome she says I didnt think you gave pretty girls tickets, he repeats it back and said you are right. Then he hands her the ticket- He just implied that she wasnt pretty! LOL
@safewaysecurity Actually its not, I saw it first on a police forum and several officers were talking about it saying they know him and he is that sarcastic all the time.
Hmmmm - let's think about this. Did the cop stop for the stop sign? How FAST did he have to go on a residential street to catch up with that car? She must have been ugly . . .
@rectaltemp No he did not, but when his lights/siren is on, they aren't required to follow the traffic control devices completely as long as their cautious. Considering how slow he was going, he could definitely see whether or not running the sign would be dangerous. He does turn on his lights awkwardly close to the sign, but that's not endangering anyone because of it. He likely wasn't going that fast. You heard the engine rev, but he slowed down almost immediately.
@GalacticCollision Maybe he had to look down to find the right switch. Some of the cops I rode with had a hard time knowing what did what light wise. One of the patrol vehicles I used to drive had a pursuit switch which with a sweep across it with your hand and your entire lightbar was on which made things alot easier.
@GalacticCollision Well they verry from department to department. Mine was quite simplistic lightbar, siren arrow directional stick and radio. When I left they were installing the MDC's "computer in the car." The more equipment you have the more cramped the space all depends on how much of a light show you want to display to stop someone. Can send you pics of the equipment of the stuff that we had but it wont be from inside the cars and you can just look at it and add it up if you want.
@qazwas2001 he used his sirens because he had to "run" that stopsign.. its like redlights if a cop drives through them he needs his sirens on .... at least i think thats the reason in this case
man this cop is cool, i wish all cops in my area were cool like this guy, they just yell DO YOU KNOW WHY I PULLED YOU OVER? and when you say no they go by and say PLEASE STEP OUT OF THE CAR AND PUT YOUR HANDS ON THE FRONT OF THE POLICE CAR, i swear everytime i pass some cop with a citizen you see the citizen outside hand either in the air or on the vehicle, its just so silly
@thewonderfrog I hope you're kidding..the traffic stop is initiated at 8:40 and returns to the driver at 8:48. Typical time span for filling out a traffic citation
@thewonderfrog Yeah, because everyone knows they directly benefit financially from giving tickets, they practically just pocket the cash. Grow up hippie, take your conspiracy agenda elsewhere.
@deputy1978 no they fast forwarded through the fill out ticket part. Look at time on cam, about five minutes is cut out of it so they could get right to the part where he owns that ugly chick
what makes it funny is he sais that so smoooth

@tempo1889 Very interesting! I've always wondered what the inside of a patrol car looked like from the driver's seat.

what a douche. In what hick town does a cop use his siren when pulling over someone for running a stop sign?
qazwas2001 1 year ago
@qazwas2001 A lot of sirens now that are also lightbar controllers, will auto set to have the siren on when they turn on all their lights.
xArmed911x 1 year ago 3
@qazwas2001 You are stupid. Sometimes people do not see your lights. So you use the siren. DUH
