  • Here's an idea. If you know this creature is not vicious unless provoked, then why don't you calmly draw it out like a dog, rather than stabbing it with a poll and risking yourself getting ripped apart

  • The Ymir reminds me a little of the homunculus from The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, minus the bat wings though.

  • that thing makes annoying sounds...

  • Cryptozoology horror novel see video book trailer

  • that guy was a fucking idiot to jab the monster with a pole like that, he could of just put some food in the cage and made this easy for everyone

  • People I just found the biggest error in this whole film.. when the farmer stabs the Ymir with the pitch folk at 4:55, at 4:56 - 4:59 you can see the farmer standing behind the man with the classes holding a rifle LOL!

Thanks for posting this is by far my favorite Harryhausen movie next to 7th VOYAGE OF SINBAD.

  • Yeah it's "docile" so lets provoke it with a stick, pitchfork and some guns!

  • I wonder if Ray Harryhausen has a habit of changing mythical monsters. He turns the Greek Cetus into a Kraken, and the Norse Frost Giant is now an alien.

  • Was the production crew THROWING chickens at Ymir?

  • i love ymir's roar

  • the barn sequence was amazing, I was not expecting what happened and in black and white it is as eerie as hell...

  • Ymir: 1 Bunch of retards: 0

  • "You're worried about what happened today. About where the creature is tonight, aren't you?" Nope! I was thinking about chicken nuggets. Christ, this woman is irrelevant to the plot.

  • You can't stop it with bullets? Why would you bring such a monster to earth?

  • LONG WOODEN POLE VS YMIR BEAST OF VENUS!!

Poor fucker, he only wanted to be friends with that sheep.

  • @VOMMHATRED I haven't seen this movie since I was a little kid, when does it say his name is Ymir?

  • You have to love that unearthly cry from the poor Ymir! Ray Harryhausen had an incredible talent for choosing the right kind of vocal accompaniment for his creations! At times, it sounds like the later Cyclops he gave voice to in "7th Voyage of Sinbad", but then, the higher pitched screams of the Ymir set it apart from the one-eyed giant! Unique 'roars'... an impressive character trait of all Harryhausen creatures!

  • Did the guy on 6:36 say "Biatch"?

  • I think he was commenting on what the Ymir made that farmer scream like.

  • @Chutultu He said "Questa è una cosa che a me non piace" (I don't like this thing). "Biatch" is actually "piace" (like)

  • Dammit, I wanted the dog to win, but then I suppose we wouldn't have an exciting movie ahead of us....

  • That doctor woman likes a little bondage hey? hee hee.
