My grandpa bred Dobes and I love em, yet one of the best all around guard dogs we ever had was a rednose male pit, lb for lb a stronger and far more animal aggressive dog, like chasing down and killing a coyote once when a night train walked through our big backyard, only thing Dobe really has on a pit is intelligence and some speed.

I lost my first Dobie a year ago. I still have his brother, and have since adopted a Rottie. Both breeds are very intelligent, very loyal and protective! But, I will ALWAYS pick a Dobie over ANY other dog! Period!

It depends on the dog ...just like people not All can fight .I had 2 Rotties 1 from a pup Max 110lbs and 1 adopted at 3yrs old Thrasher 160lbs ...Max was no fighter,which did not bother us as that's not what a dog is for...But Thrasher was a very natural fighter ,and very aggressive towards other dogs if the provoked ...not much barking just right to the neck ... luckily I'm very strong and capable of choking him out until he lets go of dogs neck and lucky he never bit me in the process .

yes rottweilers have a stronger bite but if you ever see a dogfight (which i am against FYI) the bite doesnt determine the fight, its the bite then the tearing (also where the bite is)

First of All Dobermanns were never meant to be a fighting breed. They are the only breed in existance for one purpose....Guard dog. Rotts are pretty cool dogs I guess, but no Rottweiler would ever match a Dobe in speed, intelligence, obedience or Loyalty to his master. I've had both and they don't compare. It depends on the dog ...just like people not All can fight .I had 2 Rotties 1 from a pup Max 110lbs and 1 adopted at 3yrs old Thrasher 160lbs ...Max was no fighter,which did not bother us as that's not what a dog is for...But Thrasher was a very natural fighter ,and very aggressive towards other dogs if the provoked ...not much barking just right to the neck ... luckily I'm very strong and capable of choking him out until he lets go of dogs neck and lucky he never bit me in the process .

well! i have seen dobes defeating rotts n vice versa. rottweilers are more powerful n efficient as far as fighting is concern.. rotts win more often than not. but a very well trained n conditioned n experienced dobe can defeat a pet rott lol. but rotts dont have as sharp an intellect as the dobe. n neither can a rott keep up with the dobe when endurance and energy level and intelligence n learning ability and agility n speed n etc n etc is concerned. rottweiler is just more powerful n combative.
