I heard this on the radio while driving home from work yesterday & liked it so much I pulled it up on You Tube today. At the age of 63 I can start to relate to much of what he says.
George Burns said at the time that the songwriter wanted the oldest singer in the business to sing it. Methuseleh was in an exclusive contract, so Burns was the second choice. Tom Jones should live to be as old as Burns was when he recorded this! And he should have one tenth the talent!
I remember buying this single in Feb. 1980 (when I was 2 months shy of 17). I thought it would be one of George Burns' funny little songs. I felt a little let down that it was a sad song, but it made me appreciate being young.
