be carefull around the old home places there are hand dug wells on them and old folks sometimes used boards to cover them and in time they rot and when u step on they will fall through....be safe....god bless ...george
@flash178 Could very well be--but looked like amost of the bells I've found with handle missing---regular handheld bells like I used to ring at the schoolhouse for end of recess----or folks used to ring at bible school, etc. for the kids to come back inside
@420wheatbread Looks like a handheld bell with the handle broke off or rusted away----sheep and cowbells are shaped kinda flat---not round as this one is---of course some may have had this type---but typical ones are kinda box-shaped instead of round
You must be some kind of Pussy. Bears???? Have you ever been out of the city? Also, for every bear that kills a human, 180 domestic dogs kill a human so I think dogs would be more of a concern. Crawl out of your hole, Moleman.
Sorry Moleman, I was just being sarcastic and didn't know you were frome the UK. I like you Brits. I've been laughing to myself ever since you responded. Didn't mean to sound so harsh. Apologies.
@schancac Its all good! I don`t like the idea of being where wild bears are! They hurt! It just bothers me when I see people out in the wilderness, seemingly, without protection! I`m sure bears are not everywhere in the US but this vid looks like where a bear would live! Don`t worry! No offence taken! Cheers!
Sounds good, we have a club hunt coming up this next Sunday, you are more than welcome to come and join us. I should have gone out this weekend, but was busy doing the dreaded TAXES. Give PM me and I will give you my cell phone and we can get out some time soon.
Yes it would indicate that there was life there and possibly some sort of house, building or a good place to hunt for relics. My buddy went back later and found a seated dime.
A hot rock is a rock that makes your detector go off. I am not sure what is in it, but must be mineralized or have some type of metal traces in it that make your detector sound off.
If you have a limited budget I would go with an ACE 250, very good starter machine. If it is unlimited I would go with a either a Minelab,Fisher,Whites or Tesoro. Just depends on how serious and what it is you are going after. I would be happy to talk to you offline if you send me a private message with your phone number.
Me too, I am counting the days. It is already started to warm up little bit, but the fround is still a little to frozen for me to dig. I will definately be making more when permitting.
Around $950 or less if you shop at the online auction link to the top right where it says about this video. You can usually find some good bargains on there.
There will be more in the near future, just as soon as the ground thaws. I don't believe in getting a jackhammer to chisel away at frozen treasure below the ground.
Quality video if I do say so myself. Really like how it was narrated as you filmed your partner digging, nice shots on the scenery too. Just keep it up and I look forward to more from you in the future.
Right now my filming is on hold because it is too cold. We had -8 degree weather a few nights ago and 17 degrees today with more snow on the ground. Just waiting for another warm front to move thru.
We have marked the spot on our GPS and most definately will return at a later date. The spot where the 1846 Large Cent was found was not known to Mitch or myself. There was no indication that anything was there except for the finds we located.
We had fun and will return again. The winter is really the only time to hunt the locations because of the plant growth during spring and summer.
Interesting but a bit long winded. You should have finished the clip by displaying the cleaned up items

Thanks for the video. The large cent is a pretty good find.

@WolFCoven777 Thanks for the comment.
Large cents are few and far in between.
Even thought they are not worth much it is really fun finding them, because some people never find them.
I have only found two in my 24 years of hunting.

That square shaped nail was a common type of nail used in the mid 1800's.

Don`t you worry about bears and stuff while your detecting in the woods? I know its winter on this vid but what about the summer months?
moleman1961 2 years ago 4
There are no bears where we live.
So no worries, but thanks for the concern.

@schancac Ok! Keep your pants on! HA! I live in the uk so we do not have bears or anything dangerous! Why so hostile? Calm down!

Southern,
Thanks for the comment. Hopefully as I progress in the video portion and in our research the videos should only get better.
I will be upgrading to a digital recorder possibly with a lapel mic in the near future.
Thanks again!
