You could not be more wrong? The Khumer Rogue were supported by then Veintcong and later by China after the takeover. It was perhaps the biggest attempt at communism ever seen in history, although heavy corruption was more than abundant, so too were atrocious acts, like disemboweling living pregnant women. In the later 70's the Vietnamese, not the communist VietCong, attempted a free cambodia campaign.

ChiNa tries to invade Northern Viet Nam in order to BACK OFF the Viet from invading Cambodia so Pol Pot can REGROUP his army. But the Viet defended themselve very good.
