Bill Maher and the rest of his ilk were born middle class, upper middle class, or wealthy; they've never gone hungry in their lives. I rarely if ever see people on these liberal shows who were born into poverty and built any real success. Those types more often than not tend to be conservatives or libertarians.

The same is true of anybody who doesn't leech off the family fortune. I have no idea if Bill asked his parents for money when he was 20, and neither do you. It's ignorant to assume you know the course of someone's life just because you saw the start and end points.

Not to mention, do you actually need to be poor to understand that it sucks?

Bill sounds logical. The only problem with his logic is that 100% OF ALL EVIDENCE IS AGAINST IT.

Bill's type of thinking has resulted in nothing but death and oppression everywhere in history that it's ever been allowed to reign unchecked. The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Most of the wealth in America comes by way of inheritance. "Old Money" has nothing to do with brains really. Just some greedy folk. But when it failed; time to bail them out.

If you actually listen to the advice the finance world gave to the governement is that the government needs to do a better job regulating because people are greedy - that's our nature. Also let's think of the richest people today: Mexican telcoms engineer (born poor); Bill Gates (born middle class); Steve Jobs (actually poor); and many more. Fact is people are becoming pissed that they do so badly but it's their own fault. Like the muslims who get agravated that the US is doing well.

But sure sometimes you're blessed - some people are just intelligent and they do well and that's genetics. Such people get wealth because to get their brain working for you you need to pay more than the opposition and as you can immagine the pricetag for the brightest minds is very high. ALso people don't know whether they are being gready or are just taking the money they've earned. If you work your a $ $ off and someone comes and hands you a check for a million what do you do? Do you take it? Did you earn it? Maybe you think you did but you actually didn't. This is complex and the government needs to get some smart people to solve it.
