all these birth videos are great, but the background music leaves a lot to be desired. So what I do now is play "Chariots of Fire" and boy what a difference. In this video where she says OMG,
thank you for sharing this wonderful video. my 4 year old daughter has been very interested in birth and so we watched this video by way of explanation and it was perfect! she asked me to tell you that she would love to have sent your daughter a card.
Absolutely beautiful and wonderful!! Thank you for sharing your most intimate and breath-taking moment in a mother's life! From one mom to another, BEAUTIFUL!!!
dammmmm that was beautiful to watch ,,,,,,im a mum of 2boys ....good job lillith......and it nice of ur huni to be wif u all the way ........good be wif u all
beautiful, inspiring and natural just as birth should be. You have a beautiful little girl. Thanks for sharing and showing us mama's to be that homebirth rocks!!!!
Beautiful video. Thank you for sharing. Makes me wish I had something like this to look back on for my births. Of course, my memories are sweet, too. 1st an unecessary c-section, which is not my best memory, then 1 beautiful natural birth in a hospital with a midwife, and my last two amazing births at home. My homebirthed babies were the biggest, both 9lbs, 8 oz. Such empowering beautiful expereinces, resulting in a beautiful family.
Wow, all babies are adorable, but your little Lillith is breath-takingly beautiful! Such pretty eyes and skin! What an amazing birth, thanks so much for sharing how truly beautiful and amazing birth can be :).
Sorry, just a few more things, giving birth is very natural, women do it every day all around the world, you are not sick or ill, so I don't see why we need to go to hospital. But it is a completely personal choice and no one has the right to be judgmental or hurtful to others for their chosen method of birthing. And which ever way you choose to give birth, the end result is always worth anything you went through. @metrojosie congratulations on your strength and on your beautiful daughter. Elle
I just wanted to support your previous comments by saying that I live in Rotterdam, Netherlands. In 2008 when your beautiful daughter was born, and mine too (Fiona 30-10-2008) 78% of women in the Netherlands planned to give birth at home, and about 80% of these women actually did. It is normal here to give birth at home, and mostly still without water baths. A midwife will only take you too the hospital if you or the baby are at risk.
did u name your daughters middle name suzanne cuz suzanne is ur friends name and u wanted2 name her after her? and btw your daughter is soooo beautiful and her eyes are soooo pretty!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful birth. As a midwife in NZ homebirth is something I cherish do quite often. This was a beautiful gental welcome into the world for your daughter who looks gorgeous. Homebirth is a safe way to give birth. Welldone.
Thank you very much for sharing this very private moment. As people may have negitive things to say about sharing this online, it is very educational to people like me who are nervous about giving birth (im due in a few weeks) so thank you! your daughter is beautiful!
ugh people GET OVER IT oh its private if your have a problem THEN DONT WATCH its funny how people just want attention...i think it's a beautiful thing...and before there were many docs and hospitals people would deliver their babies just fine people are ignorant and lack the proper knowledge...i am Apache and my family as had their children "naturally" and everyone came out perfectly fine...so people stop being attention whores

I think it's already nice that you want to share his happiness, but this goes too far here. sorry, that's my opinion. It is privacy-and I would honestly not want my baby to put into the internet, which is intimate.
@fibu121314 I don't understand the hate, this was very tastefully done. They did it in stills to boot, not even a video shot. There was no flashing of genitals or anything...And I agree with the mommy here, if you don't want to put your birth online, don't do it. But don't rain on anyone else's parade.
@fibu121314 - Jeez! This one isn't even GRAPHIC like some of the others. Even still, It's birth. Babies doesn't just fall from heaven onto a giant fluffy rainbow cloud, and dance amongst the unicorns and Lillies. Labor is just that. LABOR. HARD WORK. Why should these women be empowered and proud of this amazing accomplishment?! For someone so offended by birth, im surprised that you bothered to look it up.
@ MetroJosie - AWESOME JOB!!! Your daughter is beautiful, as was your birth! Thank you
what annoys me is all of these people bitching about homebirth. guess what? unassisted births are HEALTHIER. at hospitals nurses and doctors try and pump you with drugs that you do NOT need. did you know that birth will be a few hours quicker with NO epidural? or that the drug they inject to get the placenta out quicker can have side effects to both mother and baby?
if there was a problem, the mother can always call an ambulance. but why would she go there, when she can have a healthy HB?!
I am 34 + 1 day pregnant with my 4th child and I watched this video and have been crying all the way through it lol An amazing video/pictures with a lovely song Congrats on your daughter and you have made giving birth look, sound and feel special. I've never had a home birth as my labours are 2 to 3 hours start to finish so I have to race up to the hospital each time lol Lovely You Tube post x x x
I wanted to thank everyone again for your kind comments. Lillith is getting bigger and more beautiful every day. It is two years and eight months since I went into labor, and she is a happy, very cute, intelligent little girl who fills every day with joy.
I am so glad to have a video to look back on what is still the most amazing 21 hours of my life.
I'd like to wish everyone a happy holiday, and peace and prosperity as we head into another wonderful year. Thank you!
@Metrojosie i think u did a wonderful job. it is strong, proud women like you who make me hope to have a baby someday. at home, with family. with love.
You are so lucky if i had to do it again it would be home home and home .It is time to bring back the birthing process where it should have stayed HOME . Where women got together and help each other threw this wonderful experience .
lovely slide show. i just had my 3rd baby, first home birth (first water birth as well) in march. i wish we would have taken more photos but during labor i just felt like it would distract me to know photos were being taken so i asked them only to take a few. i will never forget how different that this experience was from the hospital births - amazing!
Isn't it great? We aren't broken! Women are magnificent, powerful, beautiful and capable of bringing their baby into the world free from fear and anguish, with perfect love.
I was born peacefully at home into the loving arms of my Family and my daughter was born the same way. Birth took me by the hand and lead me to the truth of my self. I am here so that life may be brought forth PERFECTLY!....I was made for this, and so are you.
@scapermoya Actually she ha shoulder dysctocia. Yes I handled it myself.

beautiful! i can see by the posting date, that i'm late, but congratulations. beautiful baby girl so worth all of your hard work. also, i love the song you chose for the video. it's one of my favorites.
what's with all these grumpy comments?!! My only response is joyful! Fantastic video, thank you. I love your face when you're pulling her up out of the water! And I was amazed that when she was crowning and being born there was no midwife or anyone there (except your partner in that first picture) did you have any assistance or guidance during that stage or did you just use your intuition? Well done :)
you are very brave i'm having my 4th child and the first 3 were dramatic and scary but i want the last one to be calm , as calm as it can possibly be..thanks for posting your miracle..
Wow...this encourages me. I am having my first child in 10 weeks and am scared out of my wits! I have to be in a hospital but I have a midwife which I am excited about. Thank you for sharing your story. I believe that God gave women everything they need to bring a child in the world!
What a wonderful birth video. I agree with you whole heartedly...you and your baby share the birth experience. You do not need to be "delivered", you help your baby into the world gently when you birth naturally. :) It looks to me that your husband was a wonderful help to you during labor. Congrats! My boy is due in Jan and we are planning a water birth with our midwives.
@helent87 It does matter. "Deliver" implies that I need someone else to do it for me. Instead of saying what was actually done "She gave birth." Someone says "Oh he delivered your baby." My husband is not the one who did anything. I did.
@Metrojosie Yes obviously your husband did not deliver your baby, I apologise. I’m sure he was of immense support. I just think in this arena too much emphasis is placed on terminology , and there appears smug satisfaction in berating lay people who know no better!
@helent87 I appreciate that. :) It's not often someone admits a mistake and apologizes.
This wasn't so much about the terminology. The term "delivery" is just indicative of how this country feels about birth. The woman does all the work, the person who happens to catch the baby gets all the credit. In this case, even when the woman catches her own baby, someone STILL gives the man in the room credit. The only person in the room who, by definition, actually didn't do anything.
@Metrojosie I agree with you 100%. My friend's baby was born in my car. I put my hands under the baby to lift him up to his mother. The most you can say I did was catch him. I definitely did not deliver him. The mother did. Or, as I would rather say, she gave birth to him. (PS He was born in the caul with a nuchal hand and virtually no pushing. Birth is definitely natural, and way easier and less scary than people think.)
One of the most beautiful homebirth videos. I am due in Oct. for a home birth. BTY Lillith is a beautiful name. And as for others opinion, shame on them for supporting the opinion that woman are expendable. Perhaps the true origin of the name is the true origin of domestic violence??
My husband did not "deliver" our child. I gave birth to our child. He'll tell you himself he just kind of stood there and moved the fan where I wanted it. Pizza is delivered, children are born.
beautiful video, cute baby. But do you realize the name Lillith is a biblical name that has to do with a fallen angel, the devil "or at least i'm pretty sure it something bad", i'm more familiar with the New Testament. How did you decide on it?It's really different, did the origin of then name not bother you?
@kardancer1 We heard the name in a movie the night before she was born, and thought it sounded good. The origin of the name did not bother us since we are not religious people. In Jewish folklore Lilith was the first wife of Adam. She refused to become subservient to Adam since they were created equally. Naturally any woman who refuses to be subservient to men is a "demon", thus the negative connotation to this name. The idea that our daughter is a mans equal does not bother us.
Beautiful photos! I had my first two boys at home #1 9lbs. 4oz, and #2 9lbs. 8oz....then #3 son was a transport the hospital 9lbs. 12oz, 23 1/2" long...but natural birth...and son #4 9lbs 1oz. in hospital birth (no homebirth insurance coverage at that time). Homebirth is GREAT and so much better than hospital birth. If you can do it, do it! That's all I can say! I believe in it 100%!
@xxxxjojoxxxx09: It's not as painful as everyone thinks it is. Yeah, it sucks, but it's over quickly and if you keep moving, it's not nearly as bad as if you're laying on your back, scared, the whole time.
Thank God for men like your husband! A woman called me & wants a VBAC, but her husband won''t let her have a home birth! The Ob's here in Michigan tell women they can have a VBAC, & then @ 34 to 36 weeks tell them a line of bs, like the hospital policy on VBAC changed overnight or he or she is the only one in the practice that does VBAC & they're leaving the practice or going on vacation. So let's schedule your repeat c. HOW CAN THEY DO THAT TO WOMEN? This is not a whim!
@lindahoney100: I agree that the state of Maternity "care" in this country is horrendous. That's exactly the reason I didn't want an OB, they feed you one line until they know that you are so far along it will be hard to find a different provider to take you, and then they throw a bunch of rules on you. People need to understand that women don't make these choices lightly, and quite often, we DO know what we're talking about.
Aww! She is adorable! Congrats! I bet she is growing by the minute! I am hoping I can do an at home birth! Are mid-wives covered by insurance? Anyways I know this was a while back but it was so touching to see this! Thank you! =D
@lifethroughthedark: Some insurance covers midwives, some don't. Very rarely will insurance cover a home birth. You'll have to get in touch with your provider and read your policy to see what is covered.
that was lovely. Thankyou so much for sharing. That point where you pick up your baby and look up (I assume at your husband) was just amazing - your face said it all. A mixture of relief, joy, pride, disbelief that you did it, and that high you get when you birth your baby. I also birthed my baby at home in water in 2008 and it bought back all of those emotions of that moment. My boy was a petite 8lb8oz compared to your bundle of joy!! haha! Well done and thank you.
I love this movie because it's very cute to see a baby born naturally and at home! I would like to have my next baby at home too but here in New Caledonia, in the North was very far to the hospital if the birth don't pass well. I don't speak very well english, but I just want to tell you congratulations and you're very strong mother, and the father too! You have a beautiful baby!
Good for you and your beautiful daughter. Congratulations!
More people should be encouraged to go through this natural process of birth.
Animals do it all the time, people used to do it for thousands and thousands of years, otherwise we wouldn't be here. However, preparing for pregnancy and delivery will always help to smooth things up. Go and educate yourself here:

I am a Pregnant mother on her daughter's account and I simply think you are amazing! 21 Hours! My daughter took 27 hours to get out, But I wasn't as brave as you were! well done. x
Congratulations! I'm amazed in what you can do.....omg Miracle Suzanne...never seen anything like this but you're strong and I admire you for that! Very supportive husband and a very good friend you stay by your side every second of it!...........excellent job!
you are so lucky. I had to push two out. Imagine how that hurts. This is amazing. Great photographs you got there. My parents won't let me put mne up.
Very powerful! Good job! Showing how birth is normal. I too had a homebirth!

My boy is due in Jan and we are planning a water birth with our midwives.

does it really matter, ''deliver'' 'birth'' ''contractions'' ''waves''... chill out
helent87 1 year ago 2
@helent87 It does matter. "Deliver" implies that I need someone else to do it for me. Instead of saying what was actually done "She gave birth." Someone says "Oh he delivered your baby." My husband is not the one who did anything. I did.
Metrojosie 1 year ago 12
@Metrojosie Yes obviously your husband did not deliver your baby, I apologise. I’m sure he was of immense support. I just think in this arena too much emphasis is placed on terminology , and there appears smug satisfaction in berating lay people who know no better!
helent87 1 year ago 2
@helent87 I appreciate that. :) It's not often someone admits a mistake and apologizes.
This wasn't so much about the terminology. The term "delivery" is just indicative of how this country feels about birth. The woman does all the work, the person who happens to catch the baby gets all the credit. In this case, even when the woman catches her own baby, someone STILL gives the man in the room credit. The only person in the room who, by definition, actually didn't do anything.
Metrojosie 1 year ago 6

@phubbie ??
My husband did not "deliver" our child. I gave birth to our child. He'll tell you himself he just kind of stood there and moved the fan where I wanted it. Pizza is delivered, children are born.

@Metrojosie i love that: "pizza is delivered. children are born". priceless.

beautiful video, cute baby. But do you realize the name Lillith is a biblical name that has to do with a fallen angel, the devil "or at least i'm pretty sure it something bad", i'm more familiar with the New Testament. How did you decide on it?It's really different, did the origin of then name not bother you?
kardancer1 1 year ago

This is not a whim!
lindahoney100 1 year ago

Thank you! =D
lifethroughthedark 1 year ago

Brave people !
