Reagan fired all the attorneys when he went into office, Bush 41 fired all the attorneys when he went into office. Its a presidential ritual.

What really happened here was Pete Domenici threatened a US attorney for not prosecuting more democrats during the 2004 elections, and another legislator asked for information about ongoing grand jury investigations which is a federal crime BTW to obtain.

At the beginning of each admin, every US Attorney turns in their resignation. It happens every time. *These* 8 were fired because they weren't prosecuting Democrats fast enough and for insufficient loyalty to the White House.
