I really love his recording of the Hummel violin concerto in g major - you never hear this one played and its such a wonderful concerto. I bought this CD because of the Potpourri and fell in love with the violin concerto.
He was actually just at Mcgill, and I asked him if he's ever played it in concert, and he told me that no one has ever asked him to do it in a program! How sad that such a great piece is left almost unheard, just because the composer isn't very well-known.
I agree with James! The world will never get tired of hearing beautiful music played beautifully :) even when it has been heard before - especially when someone new is interpreting it through his or her own feelings and life experiences - from the heart. Well put, James! All the Best, Diane
I like how grounded his views are, and how humble a position he takes. It fits right in with his non-sensationalized style of playing which feels and sounds timeless, like Perlman's style.
had the priveledge of meeting him last night at the philadelphia orchestra. it was an amazing performance :)
