  • Interesting.

  • Can I try banana

  • @taay1977 yeah, probably it works! you don't need soy sauce and wasabi, though. maybe chocolate?! hehe

  • is it sweet tasting

  • @KingMiks it is naturally sweet with kabocha flavor but not like dessert ;) you eat with soy sauce, so the final taste is more like sashimi.

  • can you just use milk not soy milk if can not be find?

  • @3sacrymovie milk is okay :D

  • Can I use water instead of soy milk if not available on hand?

  • @teethinaboxx you can, but maybe not that rich in taste!

  • where can I find this song?

  • looks like a cheese, who it taste?, you dont ad salt? can i remplace the agar agar for gelatin?

  • what's this song ???

  • She's like a japanese Foodwishes. And her music choices are quite similar to Michelle Phan's ^^

  • Elevator Music ? :D

  • I really like the idea, but that also would be an opportunity to use it as a sweet dish, when you simply add sugar. Or not? I might try it out and tell you if it tastes well :D

  • @Sparkling2Relight yeah, let me know ;D

  • @ochikeron I gotta tell you, I LOVE the chillout covers of famous songs that you use on your videos!

  • @dhhs91 tks :D

  • Wow, good idea!

  • From the look of it, that isn't 'pumpkin' as we over here in the america's think of it - but rather what we call "green winter squash".

It has a different flavour than the large orange (or white) squash which are specifically pumpkin-squash, out here. (I like both, so I wont complain, but I think perhaps it should be noted for those not familiar with squash varieties.)

  • @PurpleGhost thank you very much! i noted it large and changed my title to "japanese squash" since i heard it for many times after i uploaded this video and forgot to update it. thank you again <3 please tell me anything if i get wrong. so the pumpkins are ones for halloween?!

  • @ochikeron - No problemo! :D I mentioned mostly because they have a different taste, they aren't as sweet (in my opinion) as the green-winter-squash, so that would change the flavour of the recipe.

And yes, "pumpkin" squash are the ones used for jack-o-lanterns at halloween.

I will keep a look out, and tell you when if notice anything! ;)

  • @PurpleGhost thank you! translation is the hardest part, and i kind of make a mistake with confidence. lol

  • this looks really interesting.. thank you for sharing your original recipe.. i think i will try it, my daughter is a really picky eater, i think she will like this..

  • @fishyzneedle thanks. i hope she can eat it :)

  • It looks like you could make vegan tamago (egg) sushi with that pumpkin sashimi...

  • @sweetdenni yes! that might be interesting :D

  • Is it possible to use something else in place of soy milk?

  • @TheRuuchanchannel you can use regular milk♥ of course fat free is okay!

  • this looks really tasty, and i never thought about eating pumpin as a savory dish. i want to try and make this but i would probably make it as a dessert.

  • what kind of microwave do you have xD?

  • @funbingbing i am using national NESS30A which has a steam function (i seldom use the steam though). i think there are many better ones these days and those are called Steam Microwave Oven and i think Panasonic's bistro is (was) pretty popular but not sure what is popular now.

  • Do you have a recommended brand of soy sauce you use, and do you use the same one for cooking as well as with sushi/sashimi?

  • @kashdollaz thank you for your question. i think kikkoman is well known and mostly used. BUT, I personally recommend "dashi soy sauce" from Kamada. I have the detail on my "Lady Gaga Bento" video description. They also have sashimi soy sauce and many other kinds, but regular dashi soy sauce is good at everything :D Anyways, you can of course use kikkomoan for any cooking as well as sushi/sashimi!

  • @ochikeron Great, thanks! That was just the answer I was hoping for. I'll track some down when I finally start trying your recipes. So helpful!

  • @kashdollaz you are welcome :D

  • You could use unflavored galatin as well. We dont have much access to agar powder in the states, outside of a lab. We use agar here for growing cultures in a petri dish.

  • @mrpig2u oh, right! it reminds me of the science experiment, too. hehe it is very interesting to know that! thanks :D

  • @mrpig2u How much unflavored gelatin do you think would be good to use?

  • @TheRuuchanchannel There is not a lot of liquid, so maybe start with 3/4 teaspoon, possibly working up to a full teaspoon. It looked fairly firm,so this should do the trick. If you wanted this as a dessert, add some sweetener, to taste, and pumpkin pie spice. Top with whipped cream. Japanese pumpkin pie! Yum!

  • 先ほどは「日本一の料理のはなし」にコメントいただきありがとうございました。

    かぼちゃのお刺身、とってもおいしそう。涼しげで心地よい風がふいてくるようです。節電になりますね。

  • OMG! I was told it was ill-mannered to put wasabi and soy sauce in the same dish! Keep them separate! Although, I admit to doing it! LOL i love wasabi, and, if it hits the right place on your tongue, can be a bit much. Mixing with soy sauce ensures an even coat. i just hope that they dont think I'm white trash, at my local sushi buffet. LOL Was that a butternut squash, as it was not pumpkin, as we know it here, in the USA?

  • @mrpig2u wasabi. really?! hehe oh, you are right! it's a squash (kabocha)! i wonder why we call it pumpkin though it's a squash in the dictionary... hmm

  • Oui! Bonne idée! Je vais l'essayer.

  • おいしそう

    カボチャ好きを食べる

    The taste is great.

  • thanks ill try the gelatin.

  • @dignansgirl oh, i think it doesn't go right... the texture is different. but i never tried with it, so you can try :) make sure you don't boil the gelatin just melt otherwise it won't firm up.

  • what can you use instead of kantan powder? looks good

  • @dignansgirl thanks! good question, but kanten is a must... you can substitute the pumpkin with potato, though.

  • @dignansgirl maybe gelatine?

  • This is a very cool recipe! It's not as weird as it sounds really. I often have kabocha broiled in soy sauce! The sashimi part just sounds weird. Good job!

  • I love Japanese cooking so much its y favorite culture! this is like brand new to me i so need to try it! Great recipie! :D xxx

  • I wish I knew what does these dishes taste like. can tell us what does these dishes tastes like in your future videos?

  • @shurubie13 this recipe, i wrote on the other reply but it's like eating avocado with soy sauce :D i'll try to include how my dishes taste like in future videos in the beginning!

  • Ahaha, I get so excited every time you upload a new video :D.

  • I didn't know sashimi could be something other than fish. This is a really interesting idea. I've never been a huge fan of pumpkin but this could be interesting to try. How does pumpkin and soy sauce taste together?

  • @JadenENZ it tastes like you eat vegetables with soy sauce. we have many vegetable sushi, too in Japan.

  • @JadenENZ oh, i just came up with a good example. it's like eating avocado with soy sauce :D hehe

  • wow it's so creative !

  • @tykoishi thanks :D
