i had been editing a video from that arcade and surroundings, from one of my vacations spent up there, shocked when i heard it on the news all around the same time
To be honest, as sad I am to see that whole block burn down, Happy Hampton was one of the shittiest arcades ever. The stores next to it were great though, especially the candy one. I wish this didn't happen. X_X
There was a Nor'Easter that night, with wind gusts as high as 90 mph offshore. They don't know what happened but assume it is storm related at this point.
Terrorist attack? Really??? In Hampton NH? Thats a sad terrorist.. " Hahaha I will blow up an old tourist and high school Kid hangout on the beach of NH.. that will destroy the Us Economy" WRONG.. The best way to destroy the US economy is with a bush and an Obama DER... that was funny though... a terrorist attack.. you must lead a sheltered life. why dont you get out some and find out what its like in the real world!
They must be good people since everything I've read over the past two days was positive about them. Can't imagine driving up "the strip" and having that whole corner be empty. The big letters with "The Surf" was such a part of Hampton Beach. I hope they can rebuild bigger and better than ever! Good luck to them.
Hey SurfingTrucker, I too have tokens from that arcade! I was a little upset that a lot of the games were not working for the whole week I was up there... it was so close to where I stayed... (Ships Inn)
I'm sorry to see this happen. I am now living in the "Wild West", but I have wonderful memories as a boy taking summer trips with mom,dad and my brothers from South Windsor to Hampton Beach and of when my family and I lived in Dover too! From the ashes of destruction, rises...
Just the thought that this happened, scares me to no end.

Did Playland Arcade get damaged any? I see it in the video, but it looks out of harm's way.

Maybe its a blessing in disguise and they will modernize that area now. I think hampton beach is becoming old and rundown.

The candy store had such great cheap fudge too!
Thankfully it's winter and there were less people around.
