I like the tool, but nothing beats doing it by hand. Frame by frame, that's old school now. Only the old heads are still doing frame by frame. I'd rather spend 3 hours and know it's just right.
A few minutes prior to watching this I was literally sitting here on Flash CS3 working on a 2d cartoon animation project doing frame by frame combined with actionscript to create the IK on a character. I've spent 6-10 hours alone in the last 2 weeks working on character's walk cycles that could be done in 10-15 minutes with this tool. Thank you so much Adobe for finally getting your fucking heads together. It should've been in the last pacakage. :-)
The IK tool is pretty cool, and for the most part it's pretty easy to use, but I think there are other things that they could have focused on for CS4.
I agree. However, specifically for MY primary use (2D Character Animation) it's very helpful unless I want to staff and train everyone to use Maya in a 2d form such as what South Park did. I'm curious to know more about the impact this may have on other industries as well. Especially since it will now make it possible to flood the "Flash Market" with easy character animations with effective/realistic walk cycles (assuming this works well). It'll be very interesting. Can't wait...
Good point, sometime I forget that people use Flash primarily as an animation tool. I've had to do puppeting in Flash before, and having the tool back then would have made it a lot easier. You also make another valid point that now that it's easier to make these puppets the market will be flooded with puppets, and we'll probably see many uses of it "just because" the same way we currently see tons of PaperVision sites. But at the same time it will be interesting to see the high quality ones.

Also, once it's released if you use it to make anything cool, please send me a link as I'd be interested to see what people are using it for.
