  • It's electronic music. Let's do the Aphex Twin trick and just call it Intelligent Dance Music. Problem solved.

  • why would you want to put music into a genre, when you can just enjoy it?

  • @rossibrossib123 uhhh.... you categorize music so that if you enjoy it you can more easily find what you enjoy as well as avoid what you don't.

  • great great track from hebden . see my vid repsonse for another great artist - susumu yokota. similar hypnotic feel. yum x

  • This is my most favourite dubstep tune ever.

  • Most interesting music is music which is hard to define.

  • I listen to this... in my house. Therefore, house music? Mystery solved.

Yaaaaay now we can all go home \\\\\\----

  • house, post-pop, post-rock, techno, deep house, blah, blah, blah...who fucking cares? Just enjoy the music people :)

  • Blown away.

  • You're all talking rubbish.

This is post-pop with a slight hint of french house and techno music, you can clearly hear the influence of pre-Division Bell Pink Floyd mixed with african rhythms and asian harmony, not to mention aztec ritual sounds and kangaroo's mating howl.

Seriously, why would you care? If you ask the guy in Four Tet what genre is this, he would probably say he doesn't know and that he doesn't care.

    Just listen.

  • @cedricsurfer I thought you were being a pretentous douche like these other people on here until i read "kangarood mating call" and realized you were just joking. I had a laugh there

  • @cedricsurfer one of the best replies in all of youtube

  • @cedricsurfer Either you are a very skilled bullshitter or you're very learned in music. Either way that was hilarious and I agree with your point wholeheartedly.

  • @Predator5639 You can't agree with his point if you can't tell if he's bullshitting or not. For the record, he definitely is (kangaroo mating didn't give it away). Great song though, and I'll forgive any fellow four tet fan for not having a sarcasm detector.

  • discogs has this 12" published as deep house and experimental.

it still has a 4/4, hence why i would still call it house. stfu all seriously. post rock? are you fucking kidding me LOL

  • would be good as a soundtrack

  • This song was on during halloween

  • Hmm..how about labeling it MUSIC, just a thought.

  • @JahmBProducts Now, that's really a wonderful idea. I wonder why everyone doesn't just do that.

  • FYF!

  • Cyberpunk soundscape at its finest!

  • leave it to four tet to make a beautiful track using modem noises

  • If anyone's got time please go to my youtube channel where there are some of my songs and a link to my souncloud. I'd really appreciate anyone who gives my stuff a listen as I'm just a young electronic producer/musician passionate about my music and music in general. Thanks. p.s if your against self promotion try not to get angry I don't want to spoil the video I just want to share my music as well :)

  • Fuck a genre.

  • @TheQwerty92x right ;)

  • 222,000 views doesnt lie. good stuff!

  • @ttncool hahaha you got the coolnes for sure, take it easy man.

  • If you like this kind of music then you'll probably dig my stuff =)

  • sounds like she's saying 'fuck me', dubbed simultaneously with 'love cry'; at least, on a cd player with large hi-fi system

  • 1, 2, 3, 4. 1, 2, 3, 4. maybe I'm retarded, but I'm pretty sure I hear 4 to the floor in this. Just saying. It may not be house straight up, but there's a 4 to the floor beat at some parts.

  • @ttncool yeah you seem really fucking cool

  • If you like Four Tet, Boards of Canada, Helios, Hammock, Sigur Ros, The Album Leaf, Goldmund, Eluvium, Unwed Sailor, Rachel's, and other similar artists, you might like my stuff. I'd love some support! :)

  • ah it does definately have a house vibe. its like house waking up in the morning. i like it! kudos to four tet.

  • fuck me fuck me fuck me .... miao miao miao miao .... epic

  • @otsoblub lol you get it

  • sounds like shit

  • @Fowkz115 the shit

  • House labels this song into the wrong crowd. It deserves more.

  • hooton

  • garbagemx36 by autechre is where that glitchy high pitched sequence comes from. overall i like this better because the drums of that song didnt age so well. their both amazing though

  • @fittera917 i mean sample

  • trolololololol i wish this was as popular as house music

  • @Intelectual95 listen to fridge a band in which this guy kieren played instruments

  • shait

  • listen to this song on vinyl, will blow your mindz =)

  • 1:06 is Gold.

  • I’d say this was more housè than house ;)

  • @DEHY4 so true; LOL

  • fabric 54 <3

  • This is a masterpiece.

  • i can turn down a fuck with this one!

  • It took me awhile to realize the vocals were saying "love cry".

  • LOVE!

  • 1. thats definitely house. not the david guetta kind of house. but it is house.

    2. who cares!

    soo awesome, this one

  • Very minimal...

  • glow emanates from him

  • от него сияние исходит

  • Does anybody know what rhythm the drums are playing?

Does anybody know how to play it?

  • The compression on this video is awful. Doesn't do the song justice at all.

  • @MachineMakesNoise It's kind of the point. See if you enjoy this then you go buy it HQ... geddit?

  • @dvrogers Ha ha. Apologies! Most kids these days will just rip stuff off youtube though and my point was also kind of for them to go out and buy it.

  • @dvrogers

    HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHA

  • The 5.30 mark, where the bass comes in. Its so spot on in every way.

  • This song has a nice ass.

  • you knw the bass at about 4:30 is actually a kick drum on a huge time stretch and reverb, pretty genius

  • It's broken! Damage during the second minute! DAMN!

  • this is a really nice playlist. thank you for adding!

  • MUITO BOM!!!!

  • if you love this music, watch a video with Keiran Hebden and you'll understand why there is so much love in every song...hes seems like the nicest, most genuine guy

  • bonjour... voila encore une preuve que le sage est invulnérable à l'injustice !!!

  • four tet? house? really guys?

  • @beatod Now I can't say I listen to house much.. but I'm pretty sure it doesn't sound like this...

  • @TheCakebuilder you're right because this particular song isn't considered house..it's electronic..but it does infuse some deep house

  • @divadro102 Well that's fair enough =]

  • @beatod it's electronic..there's only three house songs on the album...and if you think house = swedish house mafia then you're confused with genres...house is a HUGE genre with tons of sub genres..

  • @beatod Why not house? Love Cry is labeled as "House, Experimental" and the album which features it is labeled as "IDM, Deep House, Experimental" so I'm not too sure why you think it shouldn't be labeled as house. Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

  • @dvrogers

sorry, i still wouldn't call this "house" in any way, i think its more minimal electronica.

    deffinitely not house

  • @dvrogers because it's not a house beat, and most of Four Tet isn't house. If you understood the definition of house you would know not to label the track as such. I'm trying really hard to hear house in this, and I just don't.

  • You honestly don't hear the house music in this? Listen to Inner City or any of the mid 80's Chicago House stuff and you will hear the influence... the sampling, the tempo! the four on the flour dance groove... This is HOUSE MUSIC, and great house music at that. Four Tet's take on house is wonderful.

  • @ChrisUtzig Exactly. Hit the nail on the head. This tune comes straight out of old Chicago and Detroit house. Moodyman and Theo Parrish were my first thoughts when I heard this.

  • @dvrogers lol @ calling four tet house

  • Comment removed

  • @dvrogers Fuck labels anyway.

  • @dvrogers SNAP!!

  • Comment removed

  • @dvrogers who cares about a f---ing label with music this good. labels are unimportant and irrelevant in general.

  • @dvrogers NO! thi isn't house music...stop!!! isn't deep house absolutely!

  • @dvrogers change this fuckin' pic

  • @dvrogers because its not house, its just not.

  • @counce2 well since youre an expert in the matter, why dont you take it up with the artist?

  • @dvrogers Then if Four Tet calls this death metal, you will agree with him ? It's not house, that's all. For the rest, don't dispute for a musical genre, just enjoy the music.

  • @dvrogers it's Post Rock. Even his wiki page describes it as such. Great track, but not House.

  • @dvrogers shut up dude

  • @dvrogers Kieran Hebden (born 1978, Putney, London, England, United Kingdom) is a post-rock and electronic musician.

  • @counce2 hence the experimental bit in the description....i get ya from the obvious observation, check out terre theamlitz - 120mid town blues,...his verbal manifesto is definitely something to listen to on what 'house' represents. its all subjective...more on aesthetics, environment and perception than just sounds you align with categories aligned by cheap journalists wanting to define a higher form of communication.

  • @counce2 its fortouse

  • @counce2 It's house. Let go of the stigma associated with the label.

  • @counce2 House is one of his main influences.. he says so in many podcasts that he's done

  • @counce2 it totally is house

  • @counce2 It is house, silly you thinking otherwise :)

  • Yay Categorize!... I am house and I suggest you take your medicine...jeez.

  • @dvrogers Where is it labelled that because i can't find it on the record. Its what ever you perceive it as and many people who say it isn't house don't like house(like my self)I can see where your coming from with the constant beat in the background. Most of the album though is kinda dubstep/ambient.

  • @dvrogers It's Post Rock. Your record store probably doesn't have a space for it yet. Check his wiki page or listen to other post rockers such as The Sea and Cake.

  • @Ddonko not that it matters, but if you listen to house producers like moodymann and theo parrish you will discover a startling similarity...

  • @beatod maybe house is not what you think it is...

  • @beatod Yeah I know right, I was like nein mann

  • I've just had a wank.

  • Love cry, love cry, love cry, etc.... BOOM, love this track!

  • @MonounsaturatedBliss so do I!

  • Just got this on vinyl :]

  • thts a spicy meatball

  • This track gives me a reason to spend my last money on records.

  • Does anybody know where the sample is taken from right at the beginning of this track, and plays more or less throughout.. I can't quite put my finger on it.

Might I add that this track is beautious; 'There Is Love In You' is shaping up to be my album of 2010, now possibly alongside 'LP4', oh yes sir.

  • @Greenheadian sounds a bit like something out of 2001: a space oddessey.

  • LEEDS FEST

  • This song was playing over and over again in my head during my first (and only) experience on acid.

It was evocative to say the least.

    <3

  • house?! oO

  • @NerdyNerdx3 yes, this is good house music.

  • outstanding

  • love

  • the best cheese you'll ever sneeze

  • @zay888 No but feel free to support the artist. Check the links in the description.

  • @dvrogers lol

  • @zay888 iTunes will send it to you for just a buck.

  • @zay888 Buy it, you fucking bum....

  • dig it!

  • One of the best 9 minutes of music I have heard in recent times. Close to electronic genius. Comparable only by himself or Arthur Russell. Innovative and inspiring. Gets better with every listen. This album hasn't left my attention since I heard it three days ago. 10/10.

  • @cb11780

Cool song! comparable only to other cool songs such as...

  • NICE !!!

  • right at the 8 minute mark when that processed guitar melody comes in, with the beat still kicking, and those cool droney noises... that's the money for me.

this song (and the album) is AMAZING... the guy defies genres, now we get to watch journalists try to come up with yet another name for what he's doing.

    it's four tet!

  • I love it

  • I really really really don't get this!!!

  • @mxpxgx What is there to get? It's music, not an equation you have to solve. Either you like it or you don't, there's nothing to "get" here.

  • choouuuuuurrruuun

  • this track blows my mind, i feel as though the beat is just an extension of my being and self, incomprehendably good

  • second!

  • mellownessssss

  • the drums - brilliant.

  • four tet rules

  • what a track!
