@gopakrz you need to put the drugs away Hank is the king, his version is haunting. I bet he influenced both theese guys . remember hank is in rock and roll hall of fame and in country hall of fame as well
This came out over a year ago, and I'm still listening to it almost every day. Absolutely chilling. It was a perfect song for such a heartbreaking, tragic event.
Wikileaks reports have proven that the United States -- in collusion with Levi's, Hanes, Fruit of the Loom -- conspired to prevent Haiti's government from increasing the minimum wage to $6 a day. U.S. Foreign policy is the reason why Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Sadly, I don't think there will be any celebrity sing alongs in honor of this revelation.
Yeah... I've never really cared for Neil Young. I do love me my Dave Matthews, but I still prefer Hank's voice on this song. ...And please don't even mention the Social D version. They need to go away.
This is not good, let alone worthy of song of the year. Social D's cover of this is way better. Their wimpy-ass voices ruin the song. It just doesn't sound right.
@scocar67 YOU ARE CRAZYYYYYYYY! Even Hank Williams' version of this song was better than them! It's supposed to be emotional so their "wimpy-ass" voices work better than anyone else I've heard!
@GhostofGoodnightLane watch a video of the Haiti destruction with this song as the audio track and you tell me which one is more moving. I think for this scenario (the Haiti relief), this version was perfect!
@GhostofGoodnightLane It's an emotional song written by a guy who was far from "wimpy". Hank's version of this song was far from wimpy. Dave Matthews and Neil Young ruined it. Mike Ness enhanced it.
@ watwatindabutt69 notice how much higher Neil brings it after Daves intro....Neil is 60+ and its hard to get up there in range without falsetto's...seems he wanted to keep the sound natural.... however this made me give alot of creedence to dave mathews talent....p.s Neil seems to be nearly an octave higher the whole time....

they're capturing the spirit of haiti. it's horrifying, haunting, and somehow out of the disastrous horror that came out of port-au-prince, it's still beautiful, just like the song.
@gamlastanarn you kidding? This is haunting, more sincere, and less playful than Hank's version. I understand that he originated it, but this version compliments the lyrics and title more effectively.
Those two completely compliment each other. For real. They sound PERFECT together. Crap, they even look like each other. First time I've ever noticed the similarities. Probably because I don't pay attention too good. Still, those boys are my faves! I watched this show (originally) from the cabin of a sailboat in the Caribbean Sea, 350 miles from Haiti. The Haitian people are beautiful souls. Bless them God, and keep the rich folks aware of their daily struggles. Please & thanks!
Incredibly beautiful and equally painful song--I thought it represented the suffering of the Haitian people so perfectly, as well as reminding us of all of those throughout the world whom it appears that God has forgotten...then it suddenly became my own personal 'theme song' after my father committed suicide on June 15, 2010... Did I forsake and forget him too? I wish he could hear me and know that I'm so sorry for all I did and sorry for all that I 'forgot to say or do'...but it's too late.
how could anyone dislike this, f*ckin a**holes

The choice of song & this performance by these 2 great muscisians was perfect for the horrid situation that still exists in Haiti!
Hank Williams was NOT in anyway whimpy, he was genius.

Dave Matthews has such on-the-spot class, pulling out the high singing voice to match Young, as though to salute saluting a music icon
