This music makes Sylvannas sound like a character you can feel bad for, but when you go back ingame, she's just insane and freaky, like some crazy stalker girlfriend who keeps haunting her dead lover's grave. Sylvannas should've died with Arthas, instead of Tirion and Bolvar doing their bros before hoes thing, but no; she's a mad woman with no purpose now. RIP, good music gone to waste.

I recently started playing WoW again after 4 years break and I have to say that new Cataclysm Silverpine Forest questline is one of the best experiences I've yet had during the "new" after Cataclysm WoW....it had that "old Warcraft magic" that I so loved in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne....and I loved it when this song started playing during the final part of that questline, it fits Sylvanas Windrunner really well =)

But now with the changes that Cataclysm has done, it feels fresh again, though I still play others games too

@TheCatengan Yes she was. High elves were initially part of Alliance and only later they withdrew (a while before Silvermoon was attacked and she was made a banshee). Later, after she created the Forsaken, she was part of the Horde. She also helped a lot in convincing Thrall to let the Blood elves in the Horde.
@TheCatengan (blood elves = corrupted high elves) Silvermoon was apart of the Alliance at one point, And since Sylvanas was ranger general of Silvermoon, yea she was alliance. Arthas turned her into a banshee, Sylvanas broke free of the Lich King's grasp, & helped other scourge break free of him, and formed an army (the first forsaken) she reclamed Lordaeron's capital city, (Undercity) and later joined the Horde. Now she fights the alliance.. which is kinda weird

You shouldn't think this song is just a song about a made up thing from a computer game. There have been real events like the destruction of silvermoon through out history who have laments about them as well. Some nursery rhymes are telling stories of past death. There are everywhere, and before industrilization many of the plays and stories were telling of past sufferings. Pay attention this is real, just in a different way.
I learnd a bit Darnassian for the Cataclysm release (I dressed up as a Night elf) and I most admit I feel a bit Nerdy for acturly understand around 75% of what she sings, even more 'cause Thalassian is a dialect of Darnassian...

Sylvanas is a tragic hero who, despite all the horror she has been through, still shows great love and compassion for her people, both old and new, high elves, blood elves, and forsaken. She goes to the battlefield herself, taking the same risks as her loyal soldiers to give her support and raise great morale. My forsaken is proud to fight and die again for the Dark Lady!
I've listened to this a few times now and it never stops me from hurting. To watch as everything you had built and the place you had grown fall to pieces is awful enough, but to die there, to lose who you were and be raised as a servant to the one you hated the most and destroy it?

@D0L4R3S, it is Thalassian. Thalassian is the language of the high elves, half-elves, half blood-elves, and blood elves — a derivative of the Darnassian language of the night elves.
They don't have a full language, just certain words and lyrics. There is also a random letter generator that plugs letters into player chat, to make it look like the language spoken. Info on wowwiki

LotR did, Avatar did with the Na'vi, entire games have their own languages for their races. Do not just assume that Blizz won't do the same.

@KortofV3 Actually, Night elves were the lower class of elves in their ancient society, High elves were the upperclass and also the direct cause of the first sundering of azeroth. There is a mighty difference between the two
@CombatWombat52 Actualli the Kaldorei were a definition that went for both what you call night and high elves, they were basically both nightelves, but the highborn (highelves) were the nobillity and the users of arcane magics. The first sundering however were due to the war of the ancient started by Deathwing, so he is to blame for both cataclysms.
Classifying the differences between Night Elves, High Elves and Blood Elves as "racial" is mistake number one. There is no evidence in lore that there is more then one race of Elves! "

These renamed themselves to high elves and after the events in warcraft 3 the survivors of the scourge renamed themselves to "blood elves" in remembrance to their fallen.

She's a Blood Elf - she was the captain of a group of scouts or archers or something (I can't well remember) when Arthas attacked Silvermoon, and since Sylvanas refused to surrender Arthas turned her into a banshee to use against her own people (hence the reason she hates Arthas so much, even by Forsaken standards)
Also, they didn't betray the Night Elves, they opened the Burning Legion portals at the request of Queen Azshara, who they were extremely loyal to.
If you were confused by her appearance - the dark skin comes from the fact that she's undead and likely doesn't have any blood, and the makeup is purely decorative - like a Troll's facepaint

@TheHiivasonni Bonus info: they chose "Sin'dorei" (Blood Elves) in honour of their fallen comrades who perished upon Arthas and Kel'thuzad's road trip to Quel'thalas in The Frozen Throne. @TheCatengan Yes she was. High elves were initially part of Alliance and only later they withdrew (a while before Silvermoon was attacked and she was made a banshee). Later, after she created the Forsaken, she was part of the Horde. She also helped a lot in convincing Thrall to let the Blood elves in the Horde.

@TheCatengan (blood elves = corrupted high elves) Silvermoon was apart of the Alliance at one point, And since Sylvanas was ranger general of Silvermoon, yea she was alliance. Arthas turned her into a banshee, Sylvanas broke free of the Lich King's grasp, & helped other scourge break free of him, and formed an army (the first forsaken) she reclamed Lordaeron's capital city, (Undercity) and later joined the Horde. Now she fights the alliance.. which is kinda weird

@Saph58 She fights the alliance because the alliance seen the forsaken as a part of the scourge. She was 'forsaken' at death from everything she knew, as were all the members of the forsaken; which is why they took the name.

You shouldn't think this song is just a song about a made up thing from a computer game. There have been real events like the destruction of silvermoon through out history who have laments about them as well. Some nursery rhymes are telling stories of past death. There are everywhere, and before industrilization many of the plays and stories were telling of past sufferings. Pay attention this is real, just in a different way.

This song is so calming!I had a dream seeing her singing but cant get any closer even though i want to touch her.after a few minutes I was able to get closer but what i touched wasnt real then i heard song somewhere else and started following the voice.but where i got was at the real life.awh. :(

Sylvanas is a tragic hero who, despite all the horror she has been through, still shows great love and compassion for her people, both old and new, high elves, blood elves, and forsaken. She goes to the battlefield herself, taking the same risks as her loyal soldiers to give her support and raise great morale. My forsaken is proud to fight and die again for the Dark Lady!

I've listened to this a few times now and it never stops me from hurting. To watch as everything you had built and the place you had grown fall to pieces is awful enough, but to die there, to lose who you were and be raised as a servant to the one you hated the most and destroy it?
That is too much.
Sylvanas may be a scheming bitch, but I still feel for her.

They don't have a full language, just certain words and lyrics. There is also a random letter generator that plugs letters into player chat, to make it look like the language spoken. Info on wowwiki

LotR did, Avatar did with the Na'vi, entire games have their own languages for their races. Do not just assume that Blizz won't do the same.

@CombatWombat52 Actualli the Kaldorei were a definition that went for both what you call night and high elves, they were basically both nightelves, but the highborn (highelves) were the nobillity and the users of arcane magics. The first sundering however were due to the war of the ancient started by Deathwing, so he is to blame for both cataclysms.

The Highborne were night elves that betrayed the rest of their kin during the Sundering. There were a few that rejected the demon taint but were also rejected from night elf society and they lived in the sun, causing their skin to darken to more tan hues. These renamed themselves to high elves and after the events in warcraft 3 the survivors of the scourge renamed themselves to "blood elves" in remembrance to their fallen.

She's a Blood Elf - she was the captain of a group of scouts or archers or something (I can't well remember) when Arthas attacked Silvermoon, and since Sylvanas refused to surrender Arthas turned her into a banshee to use against her own people (hence the reason she hates Arthas so much, even by Forsaken standards)
Also, they didn't betray the Night Elves, they opened the Burning Legion portals at the request of Queen Azshara, who they were extremely loyal to.

If you were confused by her appearance - the dark skin comes from the fact that she's undead and likely doesn't have any blood, and the makeup is purely decorative - like a Troll's facepaint
Easy enough mistake to make if you don't know the lore.

its truely amazing that blizzard can develope games like WoW and Diablo yet pull off something as amazing as the Lament Of The Highborne. character design and plots alone fill the game with entertainment...but to be able to produce music and emotion behind the music and plot together? AFTER the scourge invasion of Quel'thalas, the remaining Quel'dorei renamed themselves Sin'dorei, blood elves. @TheHiivasonni Bonus info: they chose "Sin'dorei" (Blood Elves) in honour of their fallen comrades who perished upon Arthas and Kel'thuzad's road trip to Quel'thalas in The Frozen Throne. This has nothing to do with trolls and Night Elves, the Sin'dorei (formerly known as High Elves) were an entirely different breed of Elves than the more common Night Elves.

high elves decend from-->highborn decend from-->night elves.That's why bloodelfs hate them,because they understand that night elves are among the oldest races and they in fact gave up something that bloodelves long for(immortality).
Bloodelfs are the humans of horde,they hate everybody of their own faction and are selfish at hearth.Taurens are the nighelves of horde,they do not care for war but are tied in it
