  • Who in the right mind would call a zero-contact foul, IN A TIE GAME, 70-feet from the basket with less than a second remaining? It wasn't only bad, it was inexcusable to the point where the official who made the call should have to issue a public apology to Villanova and college basketball fans in general, just like how Terrell Owens apologized to the Philadelphia Eagles.

  • i don't know who the commentator in the middle was, stating that the different stages in the game require different levels of refereeing, but he's an idiot. if there is a foul .1 second into the game or .1 second from the final buzzer, make the call. refereeing isn't about making a game close or thinking that a team doesn't have a shot so a call isn't to be made, it's about being objective and fair

  • Now I agree with what you said but you dont know that the guy in the middle is big mouth Jay Bilas?

  • Okay, dude, what call are you talking about? The one at the end? G-town clearly is trying to bring the ball up the court, and Villanova bodily pushed the guy out of bounds, thereby negating his ability to at least try a buzzer-beater? How's that a bad call? Reality check time. It's the job of the defender not to make any contact with the ball handler at this point in a basketball game. And furthermore, this is the right call. It's the right call at the beginnind and also end of the game.

  • well we all have mistakes.. but this year we have become in the final 4. and george town lost the fist round in the ica or whatever

  • as a nova fan that was sickening. at least were in the final four this year

  • I remember watching this game and that was possibly the worst call I've ever seen to this date. This wasn't the 1st time G'town got away with the bias refs. It also occured when there was goaltending vs WV and the refs don't bother to review it. Anyways, I was very happy when Davidson beat their asses last year when everyone was picking them to go to final 4. I also had that Davidson upset on my bracket :)

  • @JMK213

"This wasn't the 1st time G'town got away with the bias refs."

Literally every single team in the NCAA has on multiple occasions benefitted from bad calls.

  • Worst call ever

  • Anyone know this refs name? Cuz he fucked up big time in a hokie game.

  • That was a horrible call. Why would they call it with 0.1 left?

  • The contact was initiated by the defender and began at arounf the .9 or .8 second mark. The contact totally negated the potential for a long distance shot. Plus, what fucking difference does it make when the foul was committed, are you saying in the middle of the game it'sa foul, but at the end it's not? That's not how sports are supposed to work.

  • that was bull. georgetown gets the luckiest calls ever. rememeber WVU

  • I suppose it could go either way. But considering the contact didn't really make a difference (He wasn't gonna get the shot off anyway) I probably wouldn't call it.

  • stupid referee

  • ima big georgetown fan but when i was watching that i just thought that was a terrible call

  • Jay Bilas is an idiot. If they want refs to not make calls in particular SITUATIONS of a game then make that a rule and remove the refs. Let them them tackle them bitches.

  • im a nova fan and that was the worst day of my college life... i even cried ugh ... oh well this year we have gtown at home ... so hoyas watch out because karma is a bitch. I just hope that the idiot reff of Bob Donato stays home

  • Horrible Call

  • NEVERMIND that is not a foul..i saw another angle. thats a horrible call..

  • that is a foul. you just have to let that one slide considering the situation of the game. It should have went into OT.

  • Do you have a brain? If anyhting its an offensive player control foul he ran into the villanova player

  • YEA GEORGETOWN!!!!!!!!

  • honestly

one of the worst calls ive ever seen in any game regardless of sport

  • I almost cryed when i saw the call the worst ever. i dont think they even touched.

  • nova is awesome! kansas is going down tonight!

  • whoever thinks this is a good call. your blind and an idiot..NOVA SWEEEET 16

  • yea baby kansas is going down

  • fuck the refs.....i luv nova.......they got ripped

  • Nova should have won, the refs stink

  • No, the game shouldve went to OT.

  • this was NOT a foul. However this same type of foul was constantly called against gtown the whole game. Infact if this kind of foul was never called on any team gtown would have be up a few points

  • yea but there was a lot more contact on the ones gtown got called for than this one. and you cant assume that nova wouldnt have scored on those possessions without fouls cuz they didnt get a chance to run their offense

  • crap

  • this was NOT a foul. However this same type of foul was constantly called against gtown the whole game. Infact if this kind of foul was never called on any team gtown would have be up a few points

  • the only reason the ref couldve possibly made this call is if he had money on the game, a hot date at 9:00, or both... i hope he got stood up

  • anyone who says this is a good call is biased piece of shyte

  • that play was a foul. He forced his midsection in an attempt to knock the other team memeber either off balance or out of bounds. It was the right call, I believe.

  • i agree, there was some contact there definitely

  • nice job trying to sound smart ;)

  • I think it's the right call...it was an awful play by the Villanova defender, u just don't get that close at that moment of the game....

  • if i ever fucking see this ref im gonna beat the shit outa him this call made me so fucking mad!

  • Anyone know the name of the ref who called it?

  • sometimes refs get tired during crucicial games.. they don't want it to go overtime.. espcially they're old for chasing young players.. they decided it to end the game that way... what a shame!

  • What a shame when the refs take the game into their own hands. Didn't something like this already happen to Villanova earlier in the season?

  • yeah it happened to them against nc state

  • i remember that. 2 times in 1 season. i hope they qualify for the ncaa tournament.

  • It was a ball call, ill be honest and i'm a hoyas fan, but arent the announcers supposed to be completely unbiased and impartial? listen to these commentators!! "There's no foul there. This is just an awful call!"

  • @TheFeastoftheBigEast Probably true. Guess that speaks volumes to how bad of a call it was.

  • that my friends,is what we call homefield call

  • without being biased, that was a bad play by scottie and then stokes. they both messed up, but that was just a horrible call and the game should have gone to overtime. "THERES NO FOUL THERE. IT'S JUST AN AWFUL CALL."

  • wow. real difficult call to make at the end of the ball game...especially with .1 seconds left. i think at that point you should just let the game go to overtime and see who wins it there.

  • Argue about the merits of the call but their is no doubt it was a stupid play by the villanova kid to try to stop him with his hip and leg. He knows by now that can be called. And since the GT kid stepped on the line it was callable. The Villanova kid is a freaking idiot and should run stairs the rest of the week.

And luke12191...you're a freakin idiot too.

  • fuck u faggot it wasnt a bad play the ref is a piece of shit

  • As a referee with that amount of time ref and a small bump like it was with no time left and the player at his own basket there is no foul to call what so ever. horrible call by a horrible referee who should be looked into for maybe something more than refereeing thisgame. My guess is the guuy had some amount of money on the game because even with natural reactions u still dont ever call a call like that.

  • if one moment somebody is in bounds and the next he is out of bounds, something MUST have happened to cause that change. he had no choice but to make that call. there was contact involved and a foul is a foul with 19 minutes left in the first half or 1 second left in the second half. "My guess is the guuy had some amount of money on the game" -- that quote was just plain stupid

  • die hard nova fan. fuck that bullshit. bullshit. bullshit bullshit.

  • ima gtown fan and #24 did bump him with his knee, but with the intensity of the game the ref should have left that alone and let them play overtime. Thats nothin u call in a physical game.

    go hoyas

  • I agree with the guy before me... the ref would have otherwise had to call the guy out of bounds, and that would have given nova a good shot from a half-court set.

  • girl, actually. haha

  • First off there should have been no call at all on this play. With 0.1 left on the clock no referee is going to call out of bounds or a foul. Second Nova would have no time to get a good shot and especially no time for a half court set u idiot there is less than 1 second on the clock

  • you retard!! how would Nova get a good shot from a half-court set??? there was 0.1 seconds left. you need 0.3 even to do a catch and shoot.

  • I understand why people would say it's a bad call. But you have to understand that if that little nudge caused him to go out of bounds, it had to be called. Bilas saying if you can ignore the foul you can ignore the out of bounds step is dumb. The nudge is a judgment call, the step isn't. If they reviewed that and saw that Wallace stepped out of bounds, the ref would be in even bigger trouble. Then it would have gone Villanova's way. It was tough for the ref but I think it was right call.

  • Worst call ever

  • wow, when i read about this I thought that people were just whining, but that was VERY little contact...

  • Yeah i'm definitely a hoya - but there was almost zero contact there. ridiculous call.

  • Then I saw where he was bumped out of bounds. I didn't catch that part (posted halfway through the video). If they had given Villanova the ball, and the Wildcats would have had a miracle, then Georgetown would have been hosed. It's unfortunate, but something had to be called there. Coltdoggs is right, HORRIBLE defensive strategy.

  • Not a big fan of either team, and I don't believe in favoritism from the refs (there are rare circumstances where that changes, but this isn't one of them), but Villanova got HOSED. Yeah, he bumped him, but when you're that far from the bucket with that little time left, you let the players decide the game. I think Georgetown would have won in OT anyways, but that isn't the point.

  • I read on ESPN that the ref made the call because Wallace was forced out of bounds. Now where was the foul when Reynolds was shoved out of bounds? I am no Nova fan, but the refs in this game, and most Big East games this year has been utter garbage.

  • Worst call I have ever seen. What a joke.

  • And honestly, if there had been no call, would you have even thought twice about it?

  • Jay Bilas is right on this one. There should be no-call here. There would have been NO shot from Wallace anyway. There wasn't enough time. If you are going to call it the both ways, where was the contact on Reynolds? Rivers was bumping him all the way to the basket. You swallow your whistle with that little time left. The NCAA would have been happier if the offical let it go. Because of the call, the NCAA has to deal with this controversy, which is not their favorite thing.

  • why would the nova player even need that kind of pressure there was under 2 seconds when wallace got the ball, was he supposed to hit a 75 foot shot or are you supposed to bump him out of bounds

  • It was the right call. The time on the clock has NO baring on a foul call despite what Jay Bilas thinks. The defender's contact impeaded the Hoya player's movement and forced him to step OOB, there was an advantage gained by the defender (take the time element out of it)...he impeaded the progress of the offensive player...PERIOD.

Stupid D, right call by the official.

  • A few things

1 For full disclosure, I'm a hoya fan

2 Reynolds' shove off at the top of the play is the bigger non-call than the contact Rivers made.

3 Stokes made the mistake of putting the ref in that situation.

4 Once the defender forced Wallace OOB by contact, the ref had no choice but to blow the whistle. OOB is a no judgement call. The ref's rep is on the line with the league when he doesn't call that. So it's either a foul or OOB on Wallace, and OOB would've been the wrong call.

  • Bad call, but Georgetown player shouldn't have even tried to make any type of contact. If he backs off game goes to overtime. Must be smart at all times and not put yourself in any situation where refs can screw you.

  • Wait until March. It will get worse. Georgetown gets away with murder.

  • probably the worst call I have ever seen.

  • Someone wanted to go home early....

  • Wow

  • That was god awful. Another victory handed to Georgetown!
