  • On what RTE Radio show did your first hear Kate, can I ask you, Karen? John Creedon is always good for plating gems like Kate.

  • I'm blessed to have found such a beautiful voice. Thanks Pandora radio!

  • This is the song that said to me you are a Kate Rusby fan. I have a go at Kates songs on Guitar and I purchased a Ukulele to have a different approach. I aspire to Kates songs and her wonderful chords her Ex John Mc Cusker is a great musicial interpritor and he produces and plays incredible music. I am sure he relates to the great music he had with kate .

I am a Lark fan but any Kate Music is open to debate.

  • Lovely - I so enjoy discovering new talents - first heard on RTE Radio 1 :-)

  • i love her ill fight any one for her -_-

  • I've only recently discovered your tremendous talent thanks it's a dream !!

  • Such a beautiful song.

  • Where are the girls like this in the States??

    She's simply LOVELY!

  • Fuckwit @joyrain1. Like anyone would suck your dick, let alone choke on your teenie tadger. Grow up you dickhead.

  • beautiful. SNM!

  • This is powerful stuff.....more so after watching it 50 times non-stop! I only heard of this girl yesterday, just bought tickets to see her twice this year! It's like finding a missing link in life. I own over 1000 albums of all genres and this has slipped through my very wide net, no longer though..she has been caught!

  • @airsoldieruk she is awsome live!!!

  • My teething 6 month old immediatly stopped crying when I played this. Orajel, chewing on something frozen, binky, NO! Kate Rusby helps soothe a teething baby better than anything!

  • i went to school with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mrdavidpeter01 really what is she like

  • This is going to be played at my uncle's funeral... -RIP uncle Neil xxox

  • @gb5uq i don't think you should be able to comment about someones music like that, she is clearly talented and even though may not like her music, a lot of other people obviously do otherwise she wouldn't be playing at leeds with that many people watching her. Stop criticizing peoples music and start appraising it for what it is.

  • Fairytale sound. She's amazing.

  • Stunning sound and performance.

  • Our girls are away (Mum and Daughter) for a week and I played this to our 19 month son, who as he nodded off said "I lub you" (no spelling mistakes). We always knew he'd break hearts, and he knows how to get a tear from his old man. Thank you x

  • I would marry that woman if she wasn't already taken.

  • Can anything be more beautiful than this? Nice one Kate.

  • @GuitarPlayerGeo Nobody:-)

  • Beautiful Ty x

  • Music GCSE 2010,

  • My grandma passed away yesterday. Who now will sing me lullabies? I'm grandparent-less :( This song helps me to heal. RIP "mamkima"

  • @ObamaSucks12345

I promise, one day, you'll cry your guts out, begging to be loved. When you're older, and your family reject you, you'll howl with sadness. But you'll not find love. If, just for a cheap laugh, you can happily write that post to someone who is painfully grieving, then you're really fucked in the head, and you're going to die alone. And it will be awful. Truly fucking awful. Right now, you have no idea how awful you're future is going to be.

But just you wait and see.

  • @ObamaSucks12345 people like you are the reason why I despair of the world. Crawl back under your rock and never speak your venomous crap to anyone again. You'd be doing the world a favour and at least you would finally be doing something nice.

  • It's simple, true and beautiful, a reminder of what can be achieved only by a guitar and a great singing voice

  • Simply beautiful.

  • Achingly beautiful. If, by some miracle, she gets to Tennessee some, she might as well come here to North Carolina. What a talent . . .

  • Kate is from Barnsley, South Yorkshire not Leeds!

  • get this girl to Tennessee, USA. would love to see/hear her.

  • I love it!! She has such a great soft vice :) And shes sooo pretty too!! That is a song parents should play to get their children to sleep.. It is just amazing and she doesnt sing it at a high pitch either so it doesnt give you a headache :)x

  • SHE SINGS LIKE AN ANGEL TX FOR POSTING ,AL

  • SHE SINGS LIKE AN ANGEL TX FOR POSTING,,,,,,,,,,,,AL

  • No one.

  • as an absent yorkshire man to listen to a yorkshire voice that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand on end and reminds me of home top lass top voice

  • why she don´t come over for a Europe trip !? *-*

she is so amazing and have the voice for the great concert halls

  • I'm not crying, there's just a speck of dust in my eye, that's all. I'll be fine in a minute.

  • @USERNAMEfieldempty

    Aww

She is pretty wonderful, I saw her for the first time on Saturday in Halifax after weeks of preparation and I was in a better world for a few hours. Kate even brought out her cup of tea on set and sung holding it to keep her warm, it was a cold Halifax night but a warm evening of songs and I loved every second.

I kept thinking how different the result would have been on the silly Euro song event if Kate had turned up representing Barnsley with one of here tunes

  • @USERNAMEfieldempty I know there's a speck of dust in my eye as well... This song is so beautiful man...

  • @felixstoweblue D'y want a tissue, big fella? ;-)

  • superbly beautiful simplicity ♥

  • beautiful voice, beautiful face

  • Oh amazing. Just saw Kate Rusby in Truro tonight - amazing woman, not only is she an amazing singer/songwriter but she's very down to earth and funny. She had a lovely wee story to tell leading up to each song. Into her third song the tears were rolling down !!! then it was more uplifting. Bloody marvellous. Totally enamoured.

  • @TriangleOVflesH

I live in Rotherham, and I had never heard of Kate. I caught a little of one of her songs on a program about the dales and I watch the program to see if the credits mentioned the tracks played and I had a name "Kate Rusby" never heard of her.

I spent all night listening to tracks on You Tube . I bought the album live in leeds. To cut a long story short I am travelling to Halifax for the gig there Saturday, she is brilliant.

  • I've just realised that if she had blue eyes I wouldn't like her voice. Faugh! Go figure! (dunno where that expression came from)

  • If I go to this page every day and say I Loves Kate....would she care?......(No Replies please)

  • this will sound so stupid but i first heard part of this song in my music mock exam :/ nice song though!

  • this might be a stupid question but is this a folk song???

  • @kizywizy4 it's not a stupid question, there's a big grey area. This song was written by Kate Rusby, so it's not traditional folk, but the arrangement and lyrics are meant to resemble a folk song, which I think is very well done

  • @vitaporst

    thanks! :D

  • @kizywizy4 Yes but Yes.

  • @kizywizy4

    I guess so.

  • Were it not for Jam and Jerusalem I would have never heard this BEAUTIFUL voice! Wow, I wish they played her here in New York on Long Island.

  • See all the Kate Rusby Fans in Halifax in May at the Victoria I have my ticket sorted and It will be a small hop from Rotherham to see this wonderful singer. I will call in at Mums in Bradford first to tidy up her garden and plant a few replacement plants that did not make it through the harsh winter then go see my sister her daughter and her granddaughter. We don`t don`t mess about in`t north we get on with it.

  • She is angelic

  • @mikkab She's actually quite devillish my man!

  • My DVD arrived on Wednesday, better quality video, the Leeds Gig. I am just of fan of great music and I did not know of Kate gigging in the pubs of Barnsley between going on world tours.

I think she is amazing and I wish Lullaby had a wider audience. Her band are brilliant musicians also. Put me on the fan list

  • I think Danny watsit is out of touch with Kate Rusby fans, I have been a fan for just one day and told every one about her. My family in Wiltshire are now fans after my notification, everyone who knows her thinks she is great. I have been trying to book tickets to see her show in Halifax but the connection is stuffed at the moment.

  • She is stunningly beautiful in every single sense!

  • I discoverred Kate tonight and I have been amaised at the songs she has given, My DVD of the leeds concert is on its way. I am amaised that I have listened to Kate songs most of the night and they are all wonderful The Yorkshire Couple is a gem.

  • Where is she from?

  • northern monkey.

  • Saw Kate at the Colston Hall in Bristol some time ago now. She's lovely. Now that I'm living back in the north I hope to see her at local venues.

  • His is a wonderfull voice and reels of proper good old English folk. Where have you been Kate the folk world has gained a great deal.

  • Hiya,

am a big folk fan...and totally love Kate Rusby! So, I hope no one minds me doing this, but I'm looking to attract fellow folk lovers to my songs. I'm a gigging artist and I'm being checked out by a label, would love views and comments on my songs. Please check my channel: goodbyname. I've just uploaded my newest song, "It's in the eyes". You may also like "Sleeping on Your throne" and "Just watch me burn". Hope to chat with you all. x

  • beautiful.

  • Two of her songs came up on my Music GCSE Exam. She's wonderful.

  • @nyuuyoku same mate was it this song and Courted a sailor?

  • @JoshMusicChannel Yep! Fell in love with her immediately.

  • she's from penistone in barnsley not from leeds

  • @pimpshizzy I presume the description means she is playing in leeds!

  • for audra x

  • i could practice every day for a hundred years and never sound as good as that.

  • does she have the ridiculous vibrato in every song? please tell me she doesn't do it on purpose. she sounds like the yodelling goat song from "Sound of Music". She has a beautiful singing voice...I want to hear pure sound! not "artistic" vibrato.

  • Lovely :0) :0D

  • BTW have you lot listened to Melody Gardot? Different but almost as good.

  • Oh my. I've fallen in love.

  • Now my all time number 1 song.

  • I had never heard of this lady before I saw the HallMark movie.....November Christmas.....I heard one of her haunting songs in the backgroung.....now I am a fan

  • saw her at jimmys farm this year.. superb....

  • Great voice; I could listen to her reading the shipping forecast!

  • @innyriver agreed, only heard her for the 1st time on Monday (on Radio 2 ssshhhhh, dont tell my kids) absolutely beautiful voice, sounded like a good giggle too.......off to buy some stuff.

  • @MrChez68

HaHa @ radio 2 reference! The first time I ever heard her was also on Radio 2 on Johnnie Walker's 'Drive Time' coming home from work in Bolton, Lancashire, about 4 years ago now and he played 'Fare Thee Well' , just that one hearing got me hooked.

She has an extraordinary voice and, although a Yorkshire lass, it's still a Northern England accent, and therefore will always remind me of home when I finally move away from Blighty across the pond.

    Such a beautiful voice.

  • @innyriver agreed. Heard her for the first time on Monday. Absolutely b-e-a-utiful voice. Off to buy some stuff........

  • @innyriver North and South Utsire.. I hear you brother!

  • Saw Kate last night in Cardiff she was brilliant. I've been waiting an age for her to come to Cardiff but it was well worth the wait. I dont think you are prepared for how wonderful her voice really is. When she started singing I felt quite emotional. A most wonderful concert. She's quite funny also must be great company. These people who poke fun at folk music don't know what they are missing.

  • Kate, you are a goddess. Please come to Atlanta.

  • super!

  • I've been a fan of Kate since I was a kid. So lovely.

  • HMmmm, Kate Rusby is prettier than Eliza Carthy, but Eliza Carthy has bigger tits.

  • I first heard Kate on BBC this morning,I don't know how I had not heard of this girl with a wonderful voice before and what a musician

  • I agree she’s not hot in an X Factor false way a Cheryl Cole plastic doll, she has natural beauty that does not come out of a jar, and she has not sold out to the Simon Cowell circus or any other circus more power to her elbow.

  • Simply lovely

  • she's great.lovely voice...kate,check out my christmas song called 'gypsy christmas'

    hope you like it.cheers

  • very nice presentation

  • Her Wild Goose song was featured on the Hallmark TV show - November Christmas. That's how I found her in the States. Now I have to have all of her recordings. She's wonderful.

  • To treat myself I listen to Kate from November the 5th -through to Christmas something to look forward to - Wishing you all a happy Kate Rusby season

  • Phwooooar in this key, this is simply delightful!!

  • If everyone would listen to her, there wouldn't be war any longer...

  • I had to assess this song as part of my music GCSE and searched her up, ahha I got an A :D

  • great music. what style of guitar playing would you call that? it's sort of folksy, sort of celtic, i like it very much

  • @foxswanderings Kate is a traditional English folk singer :)

  • Her voice has amazing vibration (not sure if that's the correct term)

  • @Rein1991 Vibrato :) But you're right, she has great control and makes it sound so easy.

  • she's very yummy

  • Her voice is actually turning a lullaby into my head. When I listen to this song, I remember the charming voice of my great-grandma singing what you call in the Canaries "Arroró". I cannot stop from bursting into floods of tears every time I remember these moments, although I know Kate Rusby can give me a sweet joyful shiver with all of her songs. Rest in peace great-grandma.

  • if you like this have alook at kate hannah dot com, singer songwriter, similar to Damien rice, Sarah McGlachlan etc

  • StubbyTurner707, your dad may be thinking of My Young Man, which I think is about her grandfather...

  • I have been finding it hard to go to sleep recently due to exam stress and stuff... so everynight I play this and by the end of the song I am ready to drift off. I really love this song and it will always have a place in my heart. :') xx

  • Anyone know the song by Kate that talks about William Taylor and betraying a girl then the girls shoots him? I can't find it for the life of me.

  • @xxEdwardTeachxx Might you be thinking of Heidi Talbot's version of Willie Taylor?

  • Love this song. I can't find it on any of her albums. Where can I get a copy? Help!

  • @rpgnostic ''Who will sing me lullabies'' is on Kate's album called ''Little Lights'' Hope you manage to find it Try Amazon

  • @rpgnostic It's on the album ''Little Lights'' This is me - my previous msg was a mistake - I was signed in as my daughter - I didn't realise. Glad you like Kate - I do too I have most of her albums

  • Kate seems better for getting rid of the baggage, the bully boy

  • saw her yesterday at queens theatre was good, my dad took me it was my first concert

  • Me hace llorar de emoción.

  • The song is actually a tribute to the late Davey Steele, singer with the Battlefield Band. Beautiful and haunting.

  • i need an irish girlfriend

  • @TheFairypower10 - You know she's from Yorkshire though?

  • Iontach milis. Maith thu Kate. Don't ever stop singing lullabies.

  • Me tired now :o zzzzzzzzz

  • OMG! I'm 16, took GCSE music and listened to this song during an exam, i thought, she has an amazing voice, she must be hot! But she's not -_- Still great voice though

  • @Dannyz360Gaming Like hell she's not.

  • @Dannyz360Gaming you got to listen to Kate Rusby for your GCSE music exam?!?!?! how times have changed in 5 years, in part of mine I had to do a comparison between Roxanne by The Police and Roxanne in Moulin Rouge, and ramble for ages on the beginings of the blues ¬_¬

  • @Maksimfan

    huh

roxanne wasnt in molin rouge it was whats her name ...help.the woman who was married to tom cruise

and for your info this girl is irish

  • @socratesrocks I meant the song Roxanne, a cover version of the song by The Police, that was performed by the cast of Moulin Rouge.

  • @socratesrocks and which girl are you refering to that is Irish? As Kate Rusby is from Yorkshire.

  • @Maksimfan

    really?

she sounds irish,I know that she did a duet with ronan keating "All over again"

  • @socratesrocks yep :) it states she's from yorkshire on the biography section of her webpage.

  • @Dannyz360Gaming she's not hot ? you need to go to specsavers, but your ears are ok :)

  • @neverbeen2 eh, where are you looking, I'm a hetrosexual female and she looks pretty pretty to me.

  • @geekygirl111 my eyes and ears are working fine thanks, but dannyz360gaming was the one with eye issues :)

  • Great song. What venue is it? City Varieties??

  • AAAAAAAARGH!

Too adorable. I just want to scoop her up and squeeze her and kiss her forehead and tell her it"s OK.

  • That's truly amazing. I remember the first time my English teacher from Massachussets gave me the pleasure to listen carefully to one of her songs(Underneath the stars). I fell in love with her overwhelming voice. It soothed my soul when feeling so sad, when my eyes were clouded with tears.

  • I would kill for a voice like this.
