A year an a half ago I got an iPod Touch 3g, they say it is crash proof and nothing bad will ever happen to it, I have crashed it numerous times and had to restore the firmware because it was corrupted. Also, there is no freedom with Apple products, all you can do is use it you can't even modify your OS, with Windows and Linux you can at least modify your OS. I am not getting another iPod again, once mine finally craps out (which could be soon), I am getting something non Apple.

It had a 160gb HD, 2.0 dual core, 2 USB ports, no HDMI port, and office lite. His only reason for buying a mac? "They just work." Yeah, so does my laptop and I didn't spend an extra $300 for it to "work".

- Photoshop on the Mac is just like....cough, cough.... Photoshop on a PC...same with Office, Cinema 4D, etc, etc
- It's actually easy to repair your own PC in less than an hour, parts are easy to get. With a Mac you need to cross fingers that you have an Apple store in town, even then it could take ages before you have it back. Result; no computer, no work gets done, unless you like to buy TWO of those expensive monsters. Oh wait, Macs never fail, right?
- People like to wear different clothes, listen to different music, have different interest, just like to be a unique person. On the PC this goes as far as having a unique desktop or a unique case. Macs on the other hand all look the same, ALL of them. Show your neighbor who just bought a new iMac, your new iMac, and he's not impressed, because they are complete CLONES of one another.
- But in the end you still buy a computer to get your work done. Repairs take longer on the Mac, less software available, hardware, video courses, books, magazines, even less people around you who also have a Mac and who could help you, especially in many countries where the Mac isn't as popular like in the US (almost all counties).
And the list goes on...
Mind you, I like my iPod, would like to have an iPad, but a Mac? No way! lol

@vlptr Huh, my macbook did need a repair a few years ago. I phoned up the support number, Apple sent around a UPS guy to pick it up that evening. I got it back in a few days. There are loads of third party places to get macs repaired. You might want to explain that to ease of PC repair to my friend, after his Dell PC packed only after a year and when he called up for support got advice that he should buy a new Dell.
Lets just do a quick comparison here to prove a point that Macs are overpriced bullshit. (This has less to do with OS X vs. Windows itself. More along the lines of how Apple grossly overcharges for all it's products)

@nudistennobbel Macs have Time Machine, which is absolutely fantastic for getting the files you need recovered. We also have iMovie, iPhoto, and Garageband built in. If you go on Google and search "i want Garageband for Windows", you will tons of music producers who need a Mac because Microsoft cannot do what they're customers want. iMovie is a fantastic video editing software, that is almost at the professional level. Windows doesn't even come with Movie Maker anymore, which wasn't even good.
@Pokeyph It's not about what Windows comes with, it's about what you can put on it. Tell me, is your Mac able to handle DirectX 11? NO! There are tons of programs (and, notably, GAMES) that absolutely don't run on Mac. And seriously, why would I want fucking Garageband anyway? There are more than enough other/better tools out there, you just need an ACTUAL clue what to look for. That's what Macs are for, PCs for people too lazy or stupid to do some thinking on their own.
I don't want to pay $2000 for programs I'm not even going to use. If I want programs, I'll buy third-party programs like Sony Vegas. PCs give you superior hardware and a more flexible operating system.

I agree Mac is 999.99. When you can build a Computer for 800 Dollars a good decent gaming machine. AMD Phenom Six core for 199.99 4 gb ram or more depend on you gamer out there. HD video editing has never been more difficult in my life when using a mac. I can't stand it and it made me hate apple.
Low and behold, Sony Vegas on Windows does beautiful work of HD videos and works so much faster than on a mac. Both iMovie and Final Cut would crash when importing MTS files. Mac was just fucking useless.

Trust me, iMovie sucks, it crashes alot, I know that it may be the latest computer and apple has the ipad and the iphone, but, MY opinion, It works bad for me, We had crashes in our whole entire studio and EVERYTHING stopped working because of APPLE! The windows computer was fine, but apple was fucked-up. Apple is a HUNK-A-JUNK! Trust me, I had to learn the hard way.

for the problem. It happens indeed that iMovie crashes. BUT: that is often causes by the following things:
1. not the latest OS version. (iMovie is officially supported from version 10.6.3.)
2. not enough disk permissions: it's easy to fix it: there's a utility for it.
3. it may be that it didn't work because you didn't know how to make it work.
I had several problems with Apple too, but: it's still worth it.

- it's expensive, REALLY expensive
- upgrading is again....expensive
- PCs use the same CPU, same hard drives, same video cards, same memory chips.
- Way more software for PC, not just games
- Way more upgrading possible for PC
- Get this; you can actually build your own PC...ding, dong

- Photoshop on the Mac is just like....cough, cough.... Photoshop on a PC...same with Office, Cinema 4D, etc, etc
- It's actually easy to repair your own PC in less than an hour, parts are easy to get. With a Mac you need to cross fingers that you have an Apple store in town, even then it could take ages before you have it back. Result; no computer, no work gets done, unless you like to buy TWO of those expensive monsters. Oh wait, Macs never fail, right?

Macs on the other hand all look the same, ALL of them. Show your neighbor who just bought a new iMac, your new iMac, and he's not impressed, because they are complete CLONES of one another.

Repairs take longer on the Mac, less software available, hardware, video courses, books, magazines, even less people around you who also have a Mac and who could help you, especially in many countries where the Mac isn't as popular like in the US (almost all counties).
And the list goes on...
Mind you, I like my iPod, would like to have an iPad, but a Mac? No way! lol

@vlptr Huh, my macbook did need a repair a few years ago. I phoned up the support number, Apple sent around a UPS guy to pick it up that evening. I got it back in a few days. There are loads of third party places to get macs repaired. You might want to explain that to ease of PC repair to my friend, after his Dell PC packed only after a year and when he called up for support got advice that he should buy a new Dell.

@nudistennobbel Macs have Time Machine, which is absolutely fantastic for getting the files you need recovered. We also have iMovie, iPhoto, and Garageband built in. If you go on Google and search "i want Garageband for Windows", you will tons of music producers who need a Mac because Microsoft cannot do what they're customers want. iMovie is a fantastic video editing software, that is almost at the professional level. Windows doesn't even come with Movie Maker anymore, which wasn't even good.

@Pokeyph It's not about what Windows comes with, it's about what you can put on it. Tell me, is your Mac able to handle DirectX 11? NO! There are tons of programs (and, notably, GAMES) that absolutely don't run on Mac. And seriously, why would I want fucking Garageband anyway? There are more than enough other/better tools out there, you just need an ACTUAL clue what to look for. That's what Macs are for, PCs for people too lazy or stupid to do some thinking on their own.

I agree Mac is 999.99. When you can build a Computer for 800 Dollars a good decent gaming machine. AMD Phenom Six core for 199.99 4 gb ram or more depend on you gamer out there. Two Tyra byte hard drive or 1. power supply only cost about 80 dollars. wires 15 dollars case 5-50 i just get a cheap nice only for 10 dollars.

HD video editing has never been more difficult in my life when using a mac. I can't stand it and it made me hate apple.
Low and behold, Sony Vegas on Windows does beautiful work of HD videos and works so much faster than on a mac. Both iMovie and Final Cut would crash when importing MTS files. Mac was just fucking useless.

I have two stupid iPod Touches, I just got a new one for Christmas. And it keeps on fucking up my songs, songs randomly skip parts, and my album covers look fucked up on my iPod but they're fine on iTunes. It's fucking new and it already has a defect!
